Does Asparagus make your pee smell funny?

I mentioned this in passing to a friend of mine today and she thought I was totally bonkers. But it's true innit? Surely I am not the only one?

Seriously though... yes, asparagus can possibly make your pee smell funny... though not with everybody. It does make mine smell more like sulfurous garbage, which is a reason I avoid it, sadly.

There are actually two theories about this: first, that the production of the chemical that makes the funny odor is genetic (and not gender-specific); second, that asparagus makes everybody's pee smell funny, but the dubious ability to smell the weird smell is inherited and not universal. It might also be that asparagus cleans out the dirt in your organs and that is why it smells for some and not for others.
It is used for deslagging or something.

It's been conclusively Proven By Science that asparagus does make your pee smell funny in all cases, but only some people can smell whatever it is (can't remember the chemical).

So they say that when you stop smoking your senses of taste and smell improve. I did not notice that they had until this evening when I realized that asparagus does in fact make my pee smell funny but I've just never been able to smell it until now. This was a revelation.
