So.......what are you doing tonight?

Do you post here often?

Really though, what are your plans?

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Nothing much, though a good friend is coming in for a week's visit. I think tonight he just wants to rest up, he's attending a wedding tomorrow.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:14 (twenty-three years ago)

hopefully reading and guitar practice

ron (ron), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Fuck. All.

And this makes me sad. As I've said before, Saturday night = duddest of dud because I have to work my hardest on Sunday at rehearsal, so that rules out any mad debauchery. So I invariably end up at home, playing on the internet, googling pictures of dirty boys.

If someone can come up with something else I could be doing instead, I'd love to hear about it. (So long as it's nothing too suspiciously much like working... or writing that bloody article I'm supposed to be writing for the past 3 months...)

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Uh try to watch Chinatown. Cook dinner (Japanese!). The usual *shit*.

nathalie (nathalie), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I was thinking of getting my haircut, it's getting kind of uneven and messy, but the weather is pretty cold and also I resent having to spend money on something which is not essential. Tonight I'm going to see John Digweed whom I'm no fan of but I want my friend to have a good night.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:17 (twenty-three years ago)

So I invariably end up at home, playing on the internet, googling pictures of dirty boys.
Well, delete a few words and you could have more fun!

nathalie (nathalie), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Probably go to Art-o-matic.

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

How would I have fun googling dirty boys? I suppose I could become an internet dating addict like my mad and now departed housemate. Hrmmm. Help me write my online personal ad...

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I am going to the pub with my parents in a strange place on an A road in Gloucester!

Sara(h), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it near that massive horse thing?

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Failed former trustafarian indie pop star wannabe seeks dirty dronerock boy for fun and dirt in Hoxton and Queens. Must have dirty hair, big nose, a bigger collection of Velvet Underground and/or Spacemen 3 rarities than me and NOT be in a band that SUXORS. Resemblance to Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club a definite plus.

Yeah, they'll just come rolling in...

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:22 (twenty-three years ago)

an olde friende is coming down from Boston and we will probably eat ethiopian food in adam's morgan in dc.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha Ronan I can't even point to a map to tell you where I am in the country right now!! I haven't seen any giant horses sadly, but it's nice to see hills as yr driving along, rather than big red busxx0rs.

Sara(h), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:24 (twenty-three years ago)

That horse is classic. I think there's a few so fingers crossed, hehe.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:25 (twenty-three years ago)

My wife is having a girls night out so I'm staying in, making sure the nipper doesn't escape. No doubt i'll end up either here or watching I love 1876 on BBC 2.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I suppose I am going to the flatwarming party of a person who knows I don't like them.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to Computer Blue.

Dickon Edwards (Dickon Edwards), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Cool! Drink all their bouze. HAVE NO SHAME!!!

If I were in London tonight, I would probably be going to the pub, or drinking hot port with some chumz. I might try to con a hot port from my parents.

WHO ELSE ON THIS BITCH LIKES HOT PORT???

Sara(h), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Roller skating!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't drink port at all. Sicked up on Port/Cold Duck mixture way too many times while at art school, and now even the smell of port makes me vomit-prone. Mmmm. I have ingredients for White Russians in my house. Anyone want to come round for a drink?

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

mmmmm, hot port. I certainly like cold port, with cheese and crackers. already had some today, in fact.

this evening: might cook dinner, go see a film, etc.

DV (dirtyvicar), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Mmmm, white russians- I haven't had one since college.

I'm picking a friend up at Seatac airport late tonight.... before then, I'll probably just be playing with my puppy or reading or ILXing.

lyra (lyra), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Didn't I say I was going to see a film last weekend? And then never did... and I just spent my whole day's budget buying batteries for my effects pedals. Poo! Dirty Dronerock Dilemmas and how to solve them: do you buy BATTERIES for your pedals, or do you go out DRINKING? I bought batteries, so clearly I'm not a good Dirty Dronerocker. Sigh.

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Hot port! And cloves and slice of lemong. And a wee bit of sugar. My friend Joss told me about hot ports. And I love them! DV if you had not run away to the Lebanon when I visited Dublin you could have had hot ports with me and Andrew (ok he did not partake of the hot port).

Kate, hot ports are very different to cold ports (ahem). port/cold duck = ???

I would come for booze but I am in Gloucester. Drinking BODDINGTONS t'cream of Manchester.

Sara(h), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:45 (twenty-three years ago)

i would like to come visit for a drink but it is too far plus i just woke up

ron (ron), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Cold Duck is like champagne, but red. And very sweet and fruity. Mix this with port, and you have a very sweet but killer alcoholic fizzy drink. That and Bully Hill wine were the only things I survived on for the first semester of art school. In the second, I discovered SCOTCH.

Aaaah, I'm so sad. No one will come round for a drink. How far away could you possibly be? The left coast is no excuse...!

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh just the same thing I do every night....try and take over the world...

Michael Bourke, Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:49 (twenty-three years ago)

HEY I know what I might be doing tonight: do you chaps have these "whacky" AIM chats on Sat night? I want in on the er... fun!

Kate you should bring yr white russian ingredients here...

I have just found out that my parents have a VAT of scotch. I am flabbergasted. I shall stick to my donated Boddingtons and chocolate biscuits for now. Aaah my lovely parents house.

Sara(h), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Like the sound of that Cold Duck, Kate. I shall prolly be going out for a meal with my girlfriend (possibly at Jamals) and then going to see Donnie Darko at the Phoenix cinema in Jericho.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

i recently learned that a first class ticket to london is 13,000 US. how can this possibly be?? it's very depressing. a couple of years ago i flew to germany and it nearly KILLED me. mostly because i'm fairly tall, so i just don't fit in those seats, so cramming in there for 14 hours and not being able to sleep... so i thought, "oh, next time i'll just cough up the extra two or three hundred dollars for first class" HA i think i just need to get a seat with nothing in front of me, like the first row or next to an exit or something.

it's fun being on the computer at the same time as y'all, i'm usually at work

ron (ron), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

starry what is yr aim name

ron (ron), Saturday, 9 November 2002 16:59 (twenty-three years ago)

er, "starryversus". I haf only evah talked to RickyT on it so I might get confused!

Sara(h), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to someone's apartment for dinner. Partially to sell some jewelry to his mom (at her request)- so I may even make some money tonight!

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

i was going to go to the end for bangalter and falcon, but i have to be at work at 6am tomorrow (i am being overtime whore - doing it today too) so i shall most likely finish my iain sinclair book and go to sleep early...

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:07 (twenty-three years ago)

what kind of jewelry do you make, kim? do you do metal work??

ron (ron), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:07 (twenty-three years ago)

she uses wesley crusher's bodyparts

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:11 (twenty-three years ago)

party at voinhas house wich i was going to play but now im probably just gonna drink cos i was kicked outta the band and a friend said he could get me a bottle of pitú

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Donnie Darko, then 60s girl group night in Manchester... FAP?

Graham (graham), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:28 (twenty-three years ago)

ron, a little bit. If it can be bent with pliers that is - I'm not sure I should be trusted with a torch. Beads are much safer!

No Wesley Crusher - tho I did make a Spiderman necklace once.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I am not doing anything. I never do anything. There's nothing to do. Mmm Jamal's. I miss Jamal's. I miss living somewhere interesting. I shd move back but I am now incapable of living without internet access whenever I want it so sharing a house with strangers is too scary. I should have stayed in touch with Oxford's geek communities so I could worm my way into a houseshare with other people who feel the same and are actually clueful enough to network the entire house. Except the geek houses I've been in all have such small rooms that I couldn't fit my CD collection into them and I'd have to leave all my vinyl and my record deck at home and that would upset me.

Still, I probably live closer to a big pointless horse than anyone else, and it's the oldest one in the country at that. (I don't know how far Portland is from Osmington, I'm guessing it's just slightly further, but it's only a couple of centuries old anyway, so I still win. Er. Except on every other count, of course.)

Rebecca (reb), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:57 (twenty-three years ago)

reading sun ra's biog, ILX and playing recs.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 9 November 2002 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

a big pointless horse

I really really hope this isn't a typo.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Well hey Rebecca in the long-term I am thinking of a remove from London, if I go to Oxford let's get a house (except you are better at being a geek then me, my main geek skill = the perennial FORTH/ACID axiom).

Sara(h), Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Resemblance to Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club a definite plus.

Kate, you should date Dave Raposa!

I will be going out and doing something tonight, but nothing definite yet.

Nicole (Nicole), Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:15 (twenty-three years ago)

SCHEMING on making some scrilla after raping myself in the house of retro this week. (those tears for ray's jazz shop dried up quick)

SWEARING at my boneheaded football "team"

later i will be WATCHING 5 all evening OBVIOUSLY DUR

bob zemko (bob), Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Hrmmm. But does he HAVE A BIG ASS??!?!?

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I will be sitting at home being ILL and resenting it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Seeing "Donnie Darko" with someone who has posted on ILE precisely once.

This time last Saturday I was rollerskating, though!

Mark C (Mark C), Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Sigh. I just searched IL* for the picture thread, and I can say with all good authority that David Raposa looks nothing LIKE Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club. Don't get my hopes all up and everything like that, poo.

kate, Saturday, 9 November 2002 18:31 (twenty-three years ago)

just keep checking the score on the internet access on your mobile phone, that'll go down a treat.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

awwww, i'd like to go on a date. i'll pick you up @ 8, dinner/movie type thing.

ai lien (kold_krush), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:23 (twenty years ago)

ok but only if you like football

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

or england. one of the two will do

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

Last time I did that he walked away! There was a stand-off during which I continued to lie on the grass in the sun and he stood by a bin and waited for me. Bless his fun-hatin' heart.

I hope he doesn't read this.
(crosspost)

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

actually, you don't even have to like england or football, as long as you enjoy shouting the word "ENGLAND" in various rhythmic and melodic ways, you're totally my girl.

xpost

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:27 (twenty years ago)

I am going to see Born To Fight, a Thai martial arts movie at the UGC Trocadero as part of my birthday celebrations. All are invited.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

ok

ai lien (kold_krush), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

i'll be eating a egg curry that housemate's gonna make. then i might go for a drink or watch a dvd.

i won't be watching as it's rubbish.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

i'm so looking forward to shouting!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

See Downtown Brooklyn thread for details.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

I'm watching the football. And my flatmate's coming back after a fortnight away so maybe a last-orders trip to my local.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

what laurel said, if i'm still feeling up for it by tonight.

renegade bus (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 14:33 (twenty years ago)

Hm, it's a very beautiful evening here but I have absolutely nothing to do - husband on sleep-in at work, local friends either a) left the country for two years today or b) will want to bend my ear about friend who's left the country or c) have recently moved/are travelling, and my sister seems to be incommunicado... bah.

Clearly, I'm going to borrow this new Roman Holiday DVD from work and get drunk.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm taking two children to two different soccer practices, then maybe having beers with other local playwrights in another meeting of THE HELLFIRE CLUB

The Obligatory Sourpuss (Begs2Differ), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:16 (twenty years ago)

Clearly, I'm going to borrow this new Roman Holiday DVD from work and get drunk.

Sounds like fun.

The idiocy of drunken England fans braying "INGALAND" ad infinitum at my local has led me to reconsider my public support for England. FWIW, I loathe "USA! USA!" and "Allez, les Bleus!" just as much.

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

Begs2Differ, Fay ce que vouldras.

It does actually doesn't it. It's an Italian edition, so I might even watch it with the Italian audio, just to ratchet up the excitement.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Catching up on all the work I didn't do today because I was helping out accounts. Sigh.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Archel, it's the adolescent in me that always gets teary eyed listening to Gregory Peck's sharp footfalls as he's leaving the hall where the interview takes place.

ken, don't they yell "Forza Italia"?

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

M. White, now that I've googled your motto, I'm not sure whether to say "thanks, I think I will" or "well, um, why you gotta be so snarky about it, this is a thread about what we're doing tonight" or "you sure know a whole lot of fancy languages!"

The Obligatory Sourpuss (Begs2Differ), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

Just showin' off, Begs. Not being snarky, really. I once had an interest in the Brotherhood of St. Francis of Wycombe.

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I recently read a very interesting book about the Hellfire clubs. Do What Thou Wilst and all that.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

Girl's out of town tonight, so after I send some care packages down to Baton Rouge I'm a free man. Maybe I'll go see an artsy movie by myself, or perhaps finally get back to the gym.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:33 (twenty years ago)

http://members.aol.com/whoclix/hellfire.gif

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

ugh, my plan for the evening is to go to the bookstore and work on the office budget while listening to music thru headphones. i don't have a proper place at my house for doing that kind of thing.

ai lien (kold_krush), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

haha, I know about the Hellfire Club only from "The Uncanny X-Men" comick book. THAT'S MY EXPENSIVE IVY LEAGUE EDUCATION RIGHT THERE MOM!

Jordan, maybe you should come to the Hellfire Club meeting! 7 p.m. at the Mercury Lounge next to the Bartell Theater! (NB: I will be late and/or not there.)

The Obligatory Sourpuss (Begs2Differ), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

I will probably watch the football match.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:35 (twenty years ago)

Haha, maybe! Is it actually a playwright's group?

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:36 (twenty years ago)

yeah! except for when actors come over, that's always uncomfortable.

The Obligatory Sourpuss (Begs2Differ), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:39 (twenty years ago)

I an stuck at work so can't go watch Born To Fight as planned; will just have to be the football tonight, then (if I manage to get home in time for it! angry emoticons etc).

spontine (cis), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

So what is/are the Hellfire Club(s)?

I was supposed to meet a friend tonight, but she cancelled. Also, right now I'm supposed to make up my study plan for this semester, but the effort of actually coming up with one feels almost impossible - which is a bad thing, since the lectures start next week - so I'm wasting my time on the Internet.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

Tuomas, if you get on a plane and fly here to Madison, Wisconsin, USA, I will buy you a pint of beer. Shoot for 7.30 CST.

The Obligatory Sourpuss (Begs2Differ), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

How can I say no?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

He tolerated me watching minutes 92-94 of the footie. I am glad I didn't try to watch it earlier :(

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 8 September 2005 08:41 (twenty years ago)

i'm going to a quiz night in the uni tav.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 8 September 2005 08:42 (twenty years ago)

I ate an entire quiche by myself and then lay on the sofa and cried raucously at Gregory Peck's wobbling adam's apple. Perfect.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 8 September 2005 08:44 (twenty years ago)

I watched some film called "Dave" which turned out to be totally corny and stupid. And cried because I missed my laptop.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Thursday, 8 September 2005 08:48 (twenty years ago)

aha, is that why i saw the gorgeous Ms Weaver on TV last night?

band practice tonight. i get to use my Jag for the first time in like 5 months. i know it's sad, but i can't wait!

AND i stopped to look for new bike long shorts on the way (didn't find any). am at home waiting for imaginary new prospective housemate called colin to show up at 7.30, but he's imaginary. i was gonna go see dark water at the prince charles but i was under the impression it was japanese and it isn't, so i am STAYING IN! and there is NO ONE ELSE HERE! it's amazing. and i had spaghetti hoops on toast for my tea.

CMB, Friday, 9 September 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

me and my friend walked down the street to this 'downtempo' night at a fancy restaurant. really, nothing goes on in our neighborhood, this was big news. we drank $2.50 whiskeys and listened to decent music and realized that the bartender had played a few weeks previous at a festival, spinning outhud and tejeda and fun stuff like that.

drank three fast and smoked and then said bye. The fractured night was a revelation. who knew it happend in our neighborhood?

jergins (jergins), Friday, 9 September 2005 07:46 (twenty years ago)

> i left work at 6.15!! this is almost unheard of. i got home and it was still light!

last night was the first time since winter that i left work in the dark. got home, ate, fixed some code, broke some other code and then fell asleep reading opengl stencil buffer tutorials. oh, the excitement.

i keep meaning to look up local batwalks but i don't think there are any close.
