Bad day

So I'm gonna whine again, I've just had to say goodbye to the love of my life and I've no idea when I'll see him again. I love him so much that this is almost physically painful. We find out today if he's going to jail, he could get 6 months and if he gets a jail term he won’t be home tonight. He did wrong, he deserves to be punished but he's not a danger to anyone, he isn't violent, there is no need for him to go to jail - I reckon he's going to be made an example of though. I had to listen to him say goodbye to his kids and it's possibly the most heartbreaking thing I have ever heard. I've had to pretend to be strong for him, I'm in work but I'd rather be at home bawling my eyes out. Today is gonna be the longest day of my life, so I apologise in advance if I’m a bit nippy today. I realise many of you have been through a lot worse so if you feel the need to gimme some perspective on this one please do.

Hope it works out ok. Look after yourself and hope you manage to cope as well as possible.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 14 November 2002 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Ronan, thanks to those of you who've replied offline too. I know this is probably starting to get old, and ILX should be for fun & laughter so I promise this is the last "oh poor me,gimme sympathy" type posting.

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 14 November 2002 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

It's ok. Everyone has fucked up shit happen to them at one time or another. It's good to have a place to vent, whinge, and complain.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 14 November 2002 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly has he done?

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Thursday, 14 November 2002 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

My boyfs secret identity (Rule of 3)

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 14 November 2002 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope you are ok Plinky.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 14 November 2002 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Good luck Plinky. I've never been through anything like this, so I've no idea what it's like, so there's no advice I can offer you. I just hope it all turns out ok for you.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Thursday, 14 November 2002 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, I'm surprised, I thought everyone would be so against him. He's a good man, he's not a racist, he just got mixed up with those scumbags at a bad time in his life an they dropped him in it up to his neck, now he's been made an example of.
You know what the worst thing about all this is? The number of people who think we are something to do with the BNP that and keep coming up and congratulating him or making wink wink nudge nudge racist comments - it's disgusting

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 14 November 2002 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I changed "we ae" to "he is" in that last post because all this happened before I met him and I don't wan anyone here thinking I've anything to do with it. People have assumed I'm something to do with it though, you'd be shocked at the number of closet racists there are in this world.

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 14 November 2002 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Being pro-you doesn't exclude being against him, Plinkyy. You know the full facts and we don't: certainly I think that somebody who did the things he's been convicted of doing deserves punishment. But you've done nothing wrong and I think most people here can sympathise on that basis.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 14 November 2002 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Tom. You will notice I've not said at any point he shouldnt be punished, I find what he did disgusting and abhorent. I just think that the people suffering at the moment are me and his children and we didn't do anthing wrong. I'm not a judge so I'm not qualified to speak on sentencing but I'd have thought community service which helps undo some of the harm he caused would've been more appropriate, he's a first offender, he's changed his ways, he's not a danger to anyone so why lock him up? He's being used as a deterent for others.

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 14 November 2002 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

My sympathies, Plinky. I largely agree with Tom, but your last point is sound. Talking in abstract terms, if I were the judge I'd want evidence that community service righting some wrongs would be feasible - I mean, you'd want to know that he wasn't a vicious racist before, say, assigning him to help in youth groups in a black area. But if you can be convinced of that, and given there is no evidence of his being a direct danger, a custodial sentence might be unnecessary.

I am sorry you and the children are suffering, but having family should not prevent apt punishment.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 14 November 2002 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i am so sorry plinky, this is awful for you and my heart goes out to you. i think you are very brave and strong for sticking it through all this, hang in there!
and vent all you want, it helps to get it out.
:-)

donna (donna), Thursday, 14 November 2002 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

how many children does he have?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 14 November 2002 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

He has 2 little girls, 7 & 8.

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 14 November 2002 22:34 (twenty-two years ago)

He did not think he was doing anthing illegal, he was told it'd been put out all over England (which it has) and it was checked by 3 barristers, he loves his children and there is no way he'd have put them through all this heartache, he's lost his job now so he cant provide for them when he gets out and that's his biggest worry.

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 14 November 2002 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

he was a member of the 8|\|4 though, right?

but not any longer.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 14 November 2002 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

"Being pro-you doesn't exclude being against him, Plinky"

Yes. I wouldn't like to think that my support of Plinky implies a support of her boyfriend. His actions were disgraceful, and I think his punishment was more or less fair. But I feel really sorry for Plinky and the kids, being punished for something they haven't done (then again, the judge who passed sentence cannot avoid this, he/she has to hold Plinky's boyf responsible for his actions)

Having said this, I accept that there is every possibility that he has turned over a new leaf. He should be punished, but there are loads of things I've done and said that I regret (nothing like this, obv), so I think that a man deserves a chance to prove he has changed.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Thursday, 14 November 2002 23:16 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Just wanted to say that one year on my boyf's still a changed man, we've been through a lot but we're still together and very very happy. He's still trying to rebuild his life and he still has problems but the point I wanted to make is this - as far as I am aware he hasn't been near or contacted or even thought about the you know what Party in that year. His attitudes have changed, he is exploring different cultures and people, he's opened his mind to the rest of the world and it's a great thing to watch happen. I'd like to think it's all down to me but I know that he was already questioning things when I met him and he had already started to change, had he never been caught things would prolly be different too. What we all went through was hell and although many people disagree I still believe the punishment was unfair, but he has turned his life around so at least something positive has come from all this ;0)

Plinky (Plinky), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow plinky, i often wonder how you are & how things are going. I am glad to see everything is working out so well for you. :-)

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't Mark ruining the point of her changing moniker in the first place? ;)

BTW good to hear Plink, best to you both.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

So Plinkyy is xXx, but for some reason we're supposed to view Plinkyy as a different persona? Seems a bit deceitful, but I am v dumb and maybe just don't understand.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

plinkyy isn't xXx!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

No, Mark, the change came so the t@bloids wouldn't hassle us.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)
