maybe u should tell that to your laughing vagina (HI DERE), Monday, 13 April 2009 19:37 (sixteen years ago)

I think the character of Ethan is getting cut because the show cast 3 Brendan's and not a single Dylan. The intro of Liam finally brings in a bad boy and it seems like the audiences are enjoying Navid and Dixon more than Ethan (who was a bad boy for 1 episode). He's a good actor, but I think the show needs some more excitement and everyone was too goody goody.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 19:39 (sixteen years ago)

it just serves to alienate u tho dan - people get mad u get mad its an ugly cycle that doesnt really benefit anyone except maybe those who are now barred from wasting their lives on a plain text message board

i'm going to start sb'ing ppl who imply that life after ilx is somehow like that val kilmer movie where the blind guy gets an operation and can see. like i'm sure ethan is doing a lot of great stuff with the time he used to spend posting here (and that's no slam on him).

call all destroyer, Monday, 13 April 2009 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

guys right now ethan is probably drinking beers at a bbq or hanging with some hot chicks or mastering some shaolin puppetry technique while this is being argued. i think he's doing just fine imo (still missed of course.)

That was the one detail that always got me.

•--• --- --- •--• (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 13 April 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)

I think it's the stupidest of decisions to not bring Ethan back into season 2. The first season has only just really took off and there already talking of taking away one of the originals its ridiculous. On top of that Ethan is an extremely valuable character to the show, he is interesting and has so many more stories to tell that we haven't even seen the very best from him yet, amongst that i want to carry on watching how his character really progresses he is one of the best characters on the show, Ethan has such a long way to go yet. We still ahven't seen the best from him.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)

No big deal, I thought Ethan took up too much of the series anyway and wasn't that good of a character other than looking super hot.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 19:54 (sixteen years ago)

Ethan was portrayed as a "brooding villain", "cold and evil" and "creepy" and after as a "swell, neighborly guy". Mapother felt that he was not evil and that Ethan had his reasons for acting the way that he did.

fucken cumlord (omar little), Monday, 13 April 2009 19:56 (sixteen years ago)

Ethan should thank g-d he's leaving. If tonight's episode is any indication he's lucky. Why do all the women have to be crazy hysterics? It's worse than any daytime soap.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 19:57 (sixteen years ago)

I feel that they should keep Ethan on. I mean i know at times he is boring but he is hott as hellen keller! However i do trust the GG alum lady, bcuz GG was my favorite show! I miss those Gilmore Girls.
But they should definitely keep Ethan and maybe dirty him up a bit.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 20:00 (sixteen years ago)

sideburns???

c?rvel (ice cr?m), Monday, 13 April 2009 20:02 (sixteen years ago)

Ethan was boring too goodie, goodie. I think they should keep the "adult" people though. I enjoy seeing them dealing with the things they did as young adults as adults talking to young adults!

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 20:02 (sixteen years ago)

Tombot was biting my style, only being nice about it. I've always been a hardline "don't fuck with me"-type asshole when it comes to me operating as a mod; it was like that back in the Calum heyday and it's like that now.

You've been a mod that long, Dan?

!!!

Veteran of the Psychic Wars (Abbott), Monday, 13 April 2009 20:06 (sixteen years ago)

Ethan's character got old quit so no big deal there - my guess is a send off to the military so they can have him guest spot randomly if need be.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 20:06 (sixteen years ago)

I'm sure by now Ethan could get unbanned by now if he asked the mods to do that, just like I did. It's not like his behaviour really warrants a permanent ban, and I'm sure the mods agree with this. If he doesn't want to ask to get unbanned, that's his choice, though I do find it a bit sad. He was often an asshole, but just as often a good poster, so I do hope he isn't gone permanently.

Tuomas, Monday, 13 April 2009 20:06 (sixteen years ago)

Oh wow this is a blow. Ethan is one of the more likeable characters IMO.

I think Ethan has become a victim of the shaky start - he should have been more of the stereotypical TV/movie bad boy jock but he was more rounded right from the start. They should have definitely left room for growth.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Monday, 13 April 2009 20:08 (sixteen years ago)

I Miss Ethan

Ethan has been left to Helen's parent for three weeks. We planned to bring him back this weekend but now it looks unlikely because Helen felt she might get a cold.

Helen needs time to practice the exercise routine at home with full concentration. It would not happen if Ethan was around. He would approach her and try to hold her legs or do something distracting while Helen was dancing, or Helen would be interrupted by Ethan's bio-clock when she was reading the training materials. Either way Ethan would impede Helen's preparation to the Jazzercise workshop.

Last week we didn't go back to visit Ethan for two reasons: I was too tired and needed some rests after daily long-distance driving since the beginning of October; and Ethan would become fussier if we went to play with him for two days and then left him behind again.

The plan for this weekend was to drop Helen at her parents' house today on my way to Tainan to deliver a policy to my client, then she will go to Kaohsung tomorrow to attend a friend's wedding reception, and come back to Jhunan on Sunday with Ethan. But because of Helen's concern of passing the cold to Ethan and her pregnant friend, I will visit Ethan alone tonight and return to Jhunan by myself.

Rest in peace, Ethan. You were a well-known figure out here in the faire circuit of Southern California. I unfortunately never had the fortune to meet you, but I've heard your recordings. Many of my friends who had befriended you had wondered where you'd gone off to. I've just written them to let them know.

Again, rest in peace. You brought the magic of the hurdy gurdy to many Californians who had otherwise never heard of such an instrument.

Posted by El Gaitero Vato on November 7, 2004 12:17 AM

Dr. Phil, Tuesday, 14 April 2009 01:56 (sixteen years ago)

Ethan was my first hurdy gurdy teacher...I loved him
for his attention to detail, his supportiveness, and
his patience. He was very quiet, introspective, and
self-contained, and yet his presence was vibrant and
strong. We exchanged emails occasionally afterwards
and once I sent him a photo of an instrument he was having
built for him in Europe. He couldn't believe I was there,
had found the luthier he had commissioned, and had forwarded
him a progress report (it was in the days before internet
photos were the norm). We laughed over his surprise
many times after that.

I miss Ethan: each time I pick up my instrument I hear
him instructing me, telling me to rosin and tune, and
not be discouraged.

I cannot believe Ethan is no longer with us. He has left a legacy, however, that will survive for the ages. His music expanded my mind; I listened to it for hours in my Rocky Mountain cabin as I sought a more transcendent connection with the real and eternal.

Ethan was like a son to me __ the kind of son you have great expectations for and who nonetheless surpasses them in everything he does: his sensitivity, his concern for others, his extraordinary work ethic, his utter inability to offend, and above all his personal and professional judgment. He filled a real gap in my life that grows wider and emptier by the day.
