Stumbling across incriminating things on the Internet

So I got nostalgic for the Dysfunctional Family Circus, mostly because I stumbled across a website with the phrase "he's tripping his nutsack in a frenzy of dikplay" and was almost reduced to helpless tears of laughter. (For those who don't know, the DFC took captionless Family Circus panels and invited readers to submit captions for them. The editors selected the ones they thought were funny. After Bil Keane politely threatened the webmaster with a copyright infringement and defamation lawsuit, it was halted.) I remembered killing a lot of time on that site, but couldn't remember how much.

At least, not until I did this search.

I still think everything I wrote was funny and I'm perversely proud of the panel where I got four captions accepted (#442), but DAMN. There was a lot of time that I wasted on this site.

I'm afraid to look at Google's Usenet archive. As much time as I spent on AMA, I wasted even MORE time on the Doctor Who and comics newsgroups. And it's all preserved for anyone bored enough to see. *sigh*

What's your favorite/most embarrassing evidence of Internet procrastination? (ILXOR doesn't count.)

my blog. It's knuckle-eatingly poor, but that's my writing for you. Hopefully I'll improve.

I once looked up my first webpage on web.archive.org. Thank heaven I am the only person who knows the address.

A few things that I've said on rec.games.computer.ultima.dragons.

My feeble attempt to flirt with Andrew Plotkin on rec.games.int-fiction.

The "Internet Pornographer" thing that used to be in my .sig.

This weird conversation that I had with this guy on the sugar list. Luckly, it was all done in email.

I haven't thought of dysfunctional family circus in years! So that's what happened to it...somehow I'm not surprised that Dang was such an enthusiastic contributor.

I'm deeply embarassed by just about everything I wrote on alt.music.alternative. I looked at it awhile back and I was just so damn flip and snotty. Even for me!

I didn't know DFC was still online somewhere! I'll have to dig into those old ones sometime (I only got into it near when he stopped doing them).

Tragedy followed after Bil's misguided attempt to answer the question, "How do they cram all of that graham into Golden Grahams?"

Dang Perry is a genius.

Oh, Dan! You were (name removed to deter googlers)! I knew you reminded me of somebody, and now I know who. I always liked you there.

mostly because I stumbled across a website with the phrase "he's tripping his nutsack in a frenzy of dikplay"

the website to which you refer is one I spent far too much time at, regrettably. If it wasn't such a hassle I would get my entire contribution wiped away for eternity..

Aww. Thanks, Christine!

I wrote the drug rant for the Church of the Subgenius way back when. It's online now. It's stupid. Oh well.

NIcole: I really liked "Great," sighed Thel. "He's hypnotizing the kids again. I just wish he could make them do something besides 'Angsty Chicken'."

They're all good -- I forgot how much I used to lurve Dysfunctional Family Circus. Bil Keane was bound to shut it down eventually though...
