nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 3 April 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup. I got that too a few minutes ago. Pure genius.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 3 April 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Seconded, tis wonderful :)

I mean thirded.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 3 April 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

You see how I bothered to change that message but not fix the problem that causes it?

(It was Dan's idea, btw)

Graham (graham), Thursday, 3 April 2003 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

TURN BACK YOU POXY FULE! could be the new 'delete ilx please'.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 3 April 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I kiss you Graham. You poxy fule.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 3 April 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha Graham, I think you should leave the problem now that we've got an error message that everyone loves.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 3 April 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't get it!!! Waaaahhhhh! I wanna break ILX now so I can be called a POXY FULE!!!

kate, Thursday, 3 April 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that a threat, kate? Oh no! Delete the internet before it's too late!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Thursday, 3 April 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Graham, did you get my card yet? The Winnipeg one.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 3 April 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

eleven months pass...
that poxy crap sux

GrapeSoda, Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

it happens every day again now

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

It happens every freaking MINUTE.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone talked to Andrew directly about it? I keep meaning to.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever happened to Graham?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You made him cry with your poxy fule hatin' ways

C J (C J), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I spoke to Andrew about this yesterday. He said he's tried disabling a referrals log that was going nuts, and after he did that things really did seem to speed up significantly. But by late afternoon it was sluggish again so I dont know... I dont think Andrew looks at ILX much anymore so it may be prudent for one of the other guys with access to the SQL to be looking at this cuz obviously something's up.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

What DID happen to Graham?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i think that graham took a hint

todd swiss (eliti), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

he got mad!

mandee, Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I really felt bad for Graham yesterday. :(

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

WHY?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you all kidnapped him?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Graham finally got our sympathy by....... not asking for it! (shockah)

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe the recent surge of random googlers has something to do with it. i suggest deleting any mention of j0hn C3na from ilx.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Or just changing the name of "I love horses" to "I love J0hn C3na and hair dye. I also would like someone to p1mp my ride."

winterland, Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I read that above as "plump my ride". Much more interesting that way, I think...

DMTina (DMTina), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"pimp my cushion"

winterland, Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

"pimp my mom"

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:11 (twenty-one years ago)

are random googlers really common and a problem?

A Nairn (moretap), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:13 (twenty-one years ago)

They seem more so lately than Ive noticed in the past.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, random googlers are terribly common. They have no class whatsoever.

C J (C J), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear Sirs, I noted with interest that you and your fine compatriots are offering advice on how to get one ride pimped, if you'll excuse the vernacular. Any further information would be appreciated, thanking you in advance.

randomgoogler, Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Curses! I hate it when I'm wrong!

C J (C J), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't like being called a poxy fule.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:41 (twenty-one years ago)

HSA gets really confused when I start shouting DON'T POXY FOOL ME!!! at the computer.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like it that I was (in a way) the original poxy fule.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean FULE. Duh. I am a FULE for that.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Here's where the term originated in this context if anyone cares.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

ah so it is Mr. Perry who we have to thank for this phrase.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:51 (twenty-one years ago)

re graham: you could ask him he's on IM: dtcdthingy (i think is his nickname on IM)

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I dont think Andrew looks at ILX much anymore so it may be prudent for one of the other guys with access to the SQL to be looking at this cuz obviously something's up.

I do look at ILX quite a bit, and give it a bit of a kick now and then to fix things up, but I just don't have time to have an involved look at why it's fucking up the way it is. Fortunately, Alan has agreed to have another look at the code in the next couple of weeks or so, so we should start to see a solution at some stage.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Andrew, what else does cheese do?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I've forgotten what TURN BACK YOU POXY FULE orginally said now.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm hoping that it was turn back you silly nincompoop.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess that's better than "Here's $5. Go get yerself a blumpkin while the server is busy"

Kingfish Hypercolor (Kingfish), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Andrew, what else does cheese do?

Not much, why?

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Just wondering if it did anything else.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 1 April 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

It's pretty much dedicated to MySQL.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 1 April 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I still have several non-ILX friends who refer to the actor as "Ornaldo Bloomps".

Should there be an ilxor bsky account, or some way to get a service down (or any other) update if the site is down, for maintenance or otherwise?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 5 March 2025 17:13 (eleven months ago)

there's a FB page, but I'd love a bsky option

sleeve, Wednesday, 5 March 2025 17:16 (eleven months ago)

There's a Facebook page? Things you were shockingly old when you learned.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 5 March 2025 17:21 (eleven months ago)

Didn't there used to be https://status.ilxor.com/ or a couple of other shadow sites, just pilot lights until the stove gets turned on?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 5 March 2025 17:28 (eleven months ago)

xp well it's an "ILXors are now playing" type page but yeah

sleeve, Wednesday, 5 March 2025 17:29 (eleven months ago)

Is there a way to make the site temporarily password-protected to give you more time on this & keeping it accessible to current registered users?

triste et cassé (gyac), Thursday, 6 March 2025 02:17 (eleven months ago)

I’m going to make a different backup address that should stay accessible in case of outage, yes

stet, Thursday, 6 March 2025 05:16 (eleven months ago)

might be worth taking the entire site reg-to-view at this point. the vibrant influx of new voices and valuable thoughts is probably not outweighing the operational and societal downsides rn.

Yeah, I think the chatter about it is on the ILX Cloudflare thread. I don’t fully understand why it’s happening but it’s stressing me out. I know good people are working on trying to fix it and I appreciate it. If money would fix the problem i’m happy to contribute.

I have no idea if it's technically feasible, or if would even help against the scrapers, but what if you had to sign in to "see all answers"? So, the first few and last few posts are visible without having to log in. That might entice new people by giving them enough of a taste.
