So your house is on fire and your only chance of escaping alive is through your bedroom window. What one possession would you grab as you escape? I wouldn't escape without my box of precious memories. What would you guys take?

My son.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

it wouldn't really matter since the fall would kill me.

if i could somehow survive (and assuming my lady was capable of self-preservation), i'd take the dog.

otto, Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd take my dog too but I'm thinking inanimately.

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

first I'd run my spanish spell-checker ;)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, they really are under-pricing pets, aren't they? I mean I'd rather take my cat that I got for free than a $2000 keyboard.
("well it won't bring much cash, but the sentimental value is through the roof")

oops (Oops), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

My purse. (Outside my bedroom window is a five-story drop and I'd need my insurance card to get medical treatment.)

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

1st thing is bf
2nd is cats
(aren't I sweet to put him before them?)

only 1 inanimate thing? uh, my favorite guitar.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, Lukas (my son) would be out of the house already, as he's a much lighter sleeper than me and has a big comfy bush to land on outside his window, so since he's already outside, I'm taking, um, my mandolin...no, wait, my bass...no, wait, my other bass...no, wait, my...*dies*

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 April 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheers Spence. How about fiero? :)

I really must improve.

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Who cares about lame Pontiac wannabe sports cars that aren't made anymore?
(I think he meant it should be fuego, not feugo)

oops (Oops), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

C'mon, Sarah, save the cats. Nick can look after himself. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no poor Nick. :**(

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Poor me. I'm an idiot.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick's the firestarter.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

We all know that you're an idiot Nick ;)

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

But don't worry. I'm the one who can't spell fuego :)

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember one time I was at this high-society function for the US President, and the prez was Djing for some reason, and he started to chant "The roof...the roof...the roof is on fire" and I was all like "Oh shit, the roof is on fire! Fire! FIRE!" and all these old ladies were screaming and...oh wait, that was just the preview I saw for "Head of State" starring Chris Rock. Nevermind.

Feugo sounds like a board game. Like Feud + Stratego.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

"The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire". OMG I remember a few years back I was sitting on a bus with a few friends and this girl, well, woman, was singing "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire. The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire" at the top of her voice She must have been about twenty-five or something. Quite crazy I thought. She was also singing about little budgies falling off walls. It takes all kinds.

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire" in the nutty professor? I don't know why I'm thinking this.

ali (ali), Thursday, 10 April 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

hehehe I actually had to escape from a burning house. I took me. It really does hone your sense of priority (incidentally that trick of crawling to escape the smoke DOESN'T WORK).

Matt (Matt), Friday, 11 April 2003 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd take my wallet, pack of smokes, car keys, spare change, ID badge and shoes and a pair of shorts. All of those are within a scarce few feet of one another, so it should be no sweat. Also, my apartment window is actually the patio door on the basement floor, so I could conceivably take a lot more if the elements permitted. Ha ha.
