I wear pigtails almost every day to disguise my horrible mop that never seems to be the right length. I am twenty-one. I don't feel old, so I think it's okay.

I wear ponytails in early spring and late fall. It's the most comfortable hairstyle for me at the time. In late spring - early fall, it's either a short hairdo (i.e. the pixie look) or a bun for me. During the winter month(s), I wear my hair down.

It's all about the comfort (avoiding looking completely ridiculous in a "let's slap her before it's too late" manner, though) for me.

I sometimes pull my (fairly short) hair up in teensy little pigtails that poke up from the top of my head like devil's horns. I think I'm the only person who thinks this is cute on me, though I think it's cute in a just-escaped-from-a-mental-institution way, which is tres chic, non?

This thread was started by someone whose handle combines the words "splendid" and "mullet." I realize I'm pointing out the obvious. Someone should make a clever joke out of it though, it seems to me, and I'm fresh out.

My girlfriend looks cute when she puts her hair in pigtails (not that she doesn't look cute already or anything), but her hair is too short for like the Punky Brewster-type pigtails. They're more like ... droopy hair-horns (this is sounding less cute by the minute). I think hair type or face shape has something to do with whether it works or not -- I'm picturing female friends and thinking it would work less well for them. (Or it could be age, she's tied -- at 23 -- for Youngest Person I've Dated.)

it's cool that this thread should come up now. Today my french teacher was wearing pigtails. She looked like a very french, very hot, pippi longstocking.
Allow me to continue to praise her: there's these two total fashion victim girls in my class who are total catty bitches, and they try SO hard and every day the teacher shows up looking perfect and like she didn't even give it a second thought and they just glower with envy. It's beautiful.

I wear my hair in a ponytail almost every day. About a year ago, I had shorter hair and couldn't pull it all back, so I'd pull up bits on both sides into two mini-pigtails and leave the rest of my hair down. I thought it was cute.
