The Bible was actually referred to the Irish Censorship of Publications Board in the '80s on the grounds that it was full of smut and extremely disgusting violence. The referrers were trying to prove a point.

some other guy (that chap who wrote "The Monk", maybe) once said that the Bible includes more smut than "the annals of a whorehouse".
