Lurkers are so cool. I lurked for weeks but I never got to post in a lurker thread :(

Can't I just post in that thread one time? Just ONE TIME??? I'd be curious to know the average time someone lurks before they end up posting. I think for me it was only a few weeks or maybe a month. And then I just slipped in without much fanfare. No Introduce Yourself or anything.

I lurked, on and off, for about a year, before posting - then I jumped-in whole hog and actually made it to something like #30 on the frequent posting board - and then I promptly dropped back to being fairly quiet again.

I lurked for a week or so, and thoroughly enjoyed everything I read. I was immediately impressed by how friendly ILX seemed to be, and whilst being somewhat in awe of yr mighty intellect I was frequently rendered helpless with laughter at the sharp wit. I really enjoy the banter.

When I decided to take the plunge and join in, I opened up that virtual bar and invited you all in to have a drink and say hello. It was fun.

I miss that place, I wonder what happened to it?

I lurked for a while on Greenspun, mainly reading the michael jackson threads as there was this nutty 14 year old called autumn, that used to threaten my boy as he dissed mj, that was very amusing. I didnt really post for a while, but then i jumped in & nobody really noticed at all. I still panic sometimes when i've posted something though in case everyone thinks i'm a complete idiot!!

Hmmm. I've been surreptitiously checking the board now and then over the past year. Nichole G. told me to have a look, as she's one of my best friends IRL. What actually constitutes lurking? Is it based on some nebulous ratio e.g. frequency of visits / infrequency of posts? If, indeed, that's what a ratio is. I don't really know what a ratio is.
