hstencil, Friday, 6 June 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

HOLIDAY! CELEBRATE! < /drunken sobbing adam sandler>

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Hooray!! Hadn't you better make sure he's really gone???

jel -- (jel), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

He's definitely gone. In fact, he was only in the office about 5 minutes this morning at around 11am. He came in, sat down by my desk, gave me a few easy last-minute errands to run, and then said, 'Please don't call me unless it's important.'

And it's Friday! Oh my god, I might die of bliss.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

My boss left today for 2.5 weeks. I like him, so I'm not celebrating. I basically take over his responsibilities while he's gone, so extra work too.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm... I like my boss too... far away from me! Ha ha. We get along fine some days. But also some days he lectures me for a really long time about nothing just to show that he knows more about real estate than I do. And some days he yells at me.

AND after he hangs up the phone with ANY woman he either calls her a Bitch or a STUpid Bitch or a Cunt depending on his mood. Though, if yer lucky, sometimes he'll call guys SONs of bitches. And he's always looking over my shoulder.

But I'm sure I've complained about him enough on here.

I don't have to take up all of his responsibilities as he has a Buyer's Agent now too, but it can get ugly when a closing falls through when he's away, even if we couldn't have prevented it. So, crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi. I get to leave work at 4:00 today, I was just informed, and that's in about 15 minutes. ROck.

NA. (Nick A.), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I'm jealous. But it's not like I'm working that hard!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

My boss is great, really. I really like him personally and I have pretty endless respect for his abilities, and he treats me extremely well. I can't think of a bad word to say about him. Basically, I'll miss him while he's away, and I can't remember ever thinking that of a boss before! However, I am looking for promotion late this year, so the chance to act as a more senior person for a couple of weeks has its advantages. There are some big things going on at present, so I won't be short of chances to shine or fuck up.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

today 'work' consisted of showing up at 9:45 or so and then driving to a Korean supermarket where we hung out until noon, when we went to a Korean restaurant and ate a massive amount of inexpensive food which was very very good.

At the supermarket I got this Korean nu-metal album by 'Seo Tai Ji' which is fucking brilliant and way better than any American nu-metal I've ever heard. I also got a big bottle of Srirachi hot sauce, a bottle of seasoned soy sauce, a big jug of cheapo regular soy sauce, a box of Shin Ramyun and I had this juice drink which contained actual whole seedless grapes in it.

Also they had cans of "COCK BANANA" but I didn't buy that.

Millar (Millar), Friday, 6 June 2003 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, it's very important that everyone have a collection of sauces, particularly hot sauces.

Yay! It's the weekend! Bye.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 6 June 2003 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

By some bizarre coincidence, my boss went on holiday yesterday too. Which means I also have a holiday! Woohoo!

caitlin (caitlin), Saturday, 7 June 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

This morning I bought some flowers for my desk at work. I loaded fresh batteries into my Discman. I'm now at my desk listening to the KRS Mollie's Mix I just got Saturday. The sun is streaming in through my blinds. My flowers are beautiful. I've got a stack of cds here. Ooh la la.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 9 June 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

My boss wants me to have an entire website ready for him by tomorrow afternoon. He's a cock banana. And he never goes on vacation.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 9 June 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm... Cock banana... I should start using that. Fun to say. Just rolls off the tongue. Caaaahhhkk Bunaanaa. Yes, nice.

Good luck on the site, Chris.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

My boss is leaving tomorrow. I like him. He protects me from a pretty good portion of b.s. that comes from the sales department. He's like a big umbrella covering me and the other department managers from the shit showers. I'll be dodging poopdrops for a week now.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 9 June 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Hullo.

So, this morning we awoke to no hot water. So I had a very refreshing sponge bath (ie: washcloth bath). Half of which took place in the bathtub and the other half standing in front of the sink. Then I put on lots of peppermint lotion to convince myself I was thouroughly clean (I had band practice last night in a very hot little stinky practice space).

So here I am at work. My Discman stopped functioning yesterday afternoon, but thankfully Nick has one that is the twin to mine and I've got it going. Listening to Mirah.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Can you describe this sponge bath and lotioning thing at greater length, Sarah?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi, Martin. Thanks for stoppin' by again.

I went out to the picnic bench, but it was all bugified. Just finished my lunch, but I stil have some time left. So I'm reading and listening to Helium - The Magic City.
And now, I think I'll have a peppermint patty.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is becoming somewhat of a monologue, oh well.

I'm leaving for home soon in case the repair guy comes by to light our pilot light. Come on baby, light my fire. And get me out of work early. Boo yah! And, since my boss isn't here, it was painless asking (telling) the buyers agent I would be leaving. Good times.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

cahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhk banana. Boston style.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, going home early was just lovely yesterday. Today hasn't been half bad either. I'm listening to the Throwing Muses.

I just got back from a trip to the bank to deposit MORE money into my boss's checking account. That's close to $10,000 I've deposited into his account for him in less than a week. Holy Guacamole. That's over a third of what I make in an entire year.
But, uh, who cares cause I'm going on vacation Saturday! Yeah, that's the ticket!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm the boss of me now, and I never leave.

hstencil, Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

What do you do, hstencil?

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I realize that's a very open-ended question. :)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It's Thursday - only two days left. Then I get some time off!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 12 June 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to be a little boy, so old in my shoes. What I choose is my choice. What's a boy supposed to do? The killer in me is the killer in you, my Love. Send this smile over to you.

Sarah Mclusky (coco), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 June 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

So, today's the last day of my mini-vacation before the weekend and then my real vacation. I might actually have to do a little work today. Blah. But it's Friday! woo hoo!

This morning I listened to Blood Brothers on the way to work. Yep, that'll wake you up alright.

But now it's Pixies Purple tape, so I'm a little more chill.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 13 June 2003 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got 2 weeks from monday without my boss & next week I will be the only one in my dept! Not sure what fun i'll be getting up to yet!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 13 June 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I highly recommend listening to music, if you don't do that already.

Sarah MCLUsky (coco), Friday, 13 June 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I have the advantage of listening to the radio & post non-stop to ilx, so I'mnot sure what is gonna change! Probably take longer lunch hours (not that I usually take them at all!) so that i can meet my boy for lunch. Got a bloody exam on thursday tho. :-(

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 13 June 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Exam in what?

You could eat at your desk.

Sarah Mclusky (coco), Friday, 13 June 2003 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

My boss is out today and the only project he left for me to do is one I've already finished. I have so much paid free time I'm not sure what to do with it. I have a bunch of road maps I need to return to the bookstore, I could do that. There are also some books I'd like to buy - I'd really like to find something that is a good history noir/guide to Texas, not a tourist guidebook but something along the lines of the books Mike Davis has written about Los Angeles. Do these exist for any other US cities/states/regions? Advice pls.

I'd also like to eat lunch by the lake but it is raining :(

chester (synkro), Friday, 13 June 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Chester, Do you dress 'goth casual' for work? hee hee

Only 3 hours left of this nonsense and it's the weekend and vacation time and blah ti blah.

I just went to lunch with my friend/bassist and we listened to Led Zep, Ozzy, and new Radiohead all really loud in the car.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 13 June 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

my boss just left early. too bad i have three others to report to. there is a baby being passed around, next cube over.
clash-muses-slowdive on the headphones.

kephm, Friday, 13 June 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Passed around in the football sense or just an underhand chuck?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 13 June 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

haha Sarah yes Fridays are goth casual days! I get to wear a 3/4-sleeve softball jersey with my ususal black eyeliner.

I think instead of taking a long lunch I am going to dick about on the interweb for a few more hours and then go home; I'm halfway there by the time I get to the bookstore anyway. I feel like I should celebrate, some wine in the afternoon maybe but there'd be no one around to drink with. I wish I could convince myself that drinking by myself would be "celebrating" but I just can't.

Oh god Kephm, every day around here is baby day; the only people in my wing of the building who don't have kids are me, a 30-something gay man and an 18-year old temp. I brought Slowdive too but so far they've lost out to St. Etienne remixes. Not in the goth casual spirit, I know.

chester (synkro), Friday, 13 June 2003 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

What? Some interaction on my thread? Great!

No one passes around babies in my office, but I can hear when they're arround by all the "ooh"s and "aaahhh"s. But there is a golden retriever in the office EVERY DAY named Bailey. Agents are always throwing her a ball and chasing her down the hallway. One day I should bring in my cat so they can play together. hmmm... Yeah, that would never happen. I would definitely get fired.

I LOVE slowdive, but today has not been a slowdive day for me. It's been a loud music day - Giddy Motors, for instance. 2 hours of work left!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 13 June 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

this baby is sooo quiet. baby quaterbacks* are talking of "Jamboree" is this some sort of baby drum circle?

*Raggett never fails to crack me up.

kephm, Friday, 13 June 2003 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

McLusky-whats your band like? i remember you mentioned a pixies cover.

kephm, Friday, 13 June 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

*Raggett never fails to crack me up.

*bows*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 13 June 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Jamboree or something like that is a store for baby stuffs.

My band is (watch out for plug that follows) Times Ten. I tend to just tell people we play rock music. But most people say it's punk. The songs are short and we play very loud for a three piece. Thanks for askin'.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 13 June 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

That's it, I'm out, going home. Today's list of accomplishments:

*) Decided I liked the dubby Casino Classics remix of "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" better than the original

*) Located the greatest concentration of big fuckin saguraro cactuses in AZ to visit on my road trip this fall

*) Wrote 4 emails

*) Got into a coconut fight with Momus

*) Smelled some babies

And I got paid to do it!

Bye, have a nice weekend all, & thanks for letting me hijack your thread Sarah!

chester (synkro), Friday, 13 June 2003 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm glad you hijacked the thread, chester. I was getting lonely!

Alright, I'm off now too! Don't have too much fun without me!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 13 June 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, I'm back.

Did I miss anything major?
Is the indie guys with trucker hats thread worth reading? I've got 260 unread posts on that one!
What's the best thread I missed?

Cape May was cold cold cold. I got a sore throat. But I snuggled under the blankets a lot with my sisters and little (well, teenage) cousins and got fed lots of yummy food. And I bought candy. Yum. Ok, your turn.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Thursday, 19 June 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Good to have you back! Glad you had a good time. I really wouldnt bother with that trucker thread unless you've got a spare afternoon!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 19 June 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks, Pinkpanther.

B-but surely other posters missed me too, huh?
Hello-o-o-?!? Echo-echo-o-o-?

Sarah Mclusky (coco), Friday, 15 August 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, I'm an ordinary staffer in the software house of a big university, with 8,000 staff. Today my boss and his boss and his boss and his boss were all on leave. Had I had any issues that required reference to anyone else, it was the provost (i.e. the boss) next in line.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 15 August 2003 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
This is the thread where I occasionally talk to myself about how nice it is when my boss goes on vacation.

But also I thought it would be fun to talk about resignation letters. I plan to wait until the beginning of December to give notice. The day before xmas break would be my last. But anyone have any pointers on how to word a resignation letter so as to at least try to make things end as smoothly as possible (and still get a good recommendation)? I need something to fantasize about.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

It's very cold out today. I'm wearing clothes I'd imagine Heidi would wear in the mountains. Which somehow reminds me that I still haven't had my coffee...

My boss finally called in yesterday at a quarter til 5. Good thing I was still here. Anyway, I updated him on all the files and he didn't gripe at me once, so all is well. ANd it's FRIDAY!?!

This is not my office, but I can pretend:

This is one of those threads where I talk to myself.

Anyway, my boss is not on vacation, but somehow I haven't heard from him ALL DAY! And I only have 5 and a half days of work left now!

Somebody warm up the jukebox.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)
