For what food have you a craving?

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm thinking about the meatloaf sandwich at Erik's Delicafe, and I'm salivating.

btw, why isn't there a "Food" category here?

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"Cuisine," my dear young man.

Thy Lethal Zen Ned (Ned), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

TS: a hymen doughnut vs a maidenhead cruller

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I craved a "Royal Treat" from Dairy Queen (Peanut Buster Parfait) yesterday but ended up having it this afternoon, so that's sated. I just ate dinner, but I think I could go for some homemade chocolate chip cookies. Hmm. I think overall the word I'd be looking for here is "chocolate". *grin*

Jane Datsun (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

greasy mutha fucking french fries.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Banana cream pie.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

a high-quality $8 humongoloid burger with mushrooms and swiss and the good kinda fries that still have part of the skin on 'em.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

and top it off with a freshly-mixed, comes-in-a-huge-metal-cup vanilla shake.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Jack in the Box tacos, two for a dollar, so greasy and heat-lamped that the bottom part is soggy while the top is still crunchy.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Or, raw oysters.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I could murder a bacon buttie right now. With brown sauce.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:29 (twenty-two years ago)

That 'poooteeen' stuff that Mark C and Kate had at the FAP; thick cut chips with gravy, cheese, and fried onions. MMMMMmmmmm...

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:46 (twenty-two years ago)

crackers & cheese. oh & some crisps, yeah lotsa crisps!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I have ONE more slice of lemon and pinenut! And possibly lemon and poppyseed muffins appearing in the next few days...

I think I have the savoury cravoury at the moment though. Crisps and cheese and onions and burgers and chips...

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

hotdogs - oh yeah i wanna hotdog

james (james), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Camembert sarnies. It's usually pork pies, but I had three little ones last night and for now my pie lust is sated.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Not hungry at the moment, so it's even more of a challenge. Ice cream, certainly - it's impossible not to love the feeling of it sliding down your throat, no matter how full you are.

Ah - of course. What I want is Mr Cam (in Macclesfield St, Chinatown)'s salt and chilli squid. BUT IT'S SHUT DOWN! Waaaaah!!

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I woke up today craving falafel. Ain't nowhere around here that makes 'em, looks like that responsiblity falls upon me.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark, I've found another one that does it just as good, round the corner, so don't fret...

If I had anything else to eat I'd be ill as I stuffed myself on crabstick sandwiches and yogurt with muesli and honey. Just the thought of food is turning my stomach.

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

something that is not diet food. OMG stomach stop growling.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

That 'poooteeen' stuff that Mark C and Kate had at the FAP; thick cut chips with gravy, cheese, and fried onions.

Onions??? Its fries, gravey and cheese curds you culinary freaks! ;) heavens etc.

I'd really like some shepards pie but its too hot out to make, so butter chicken or corn on the cob would be divine right now.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

After finishin' -- slurp! SLURRRPPHH! -- the soup, I'd definitely go for some ice cream now ...Only there's none in my fridge.

*disaPPOINTED!*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark C - try the salt and chilli squid at Harbour City, Gerrard Street or even better than that, SALT AND CHILLI SOFT-SHELLED CRAB.

Another good place is the one on Lisle Street owned by the fishmonger family. Ask at the fish stall, they'll send you over.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Stomach is full with food from lunch, but I am still planning what to have tonight & mmmmmm donuts!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

salt and chilli food is almost as good as house music.

I had a hotdog for lunch with onions and cheese, it was nice but too big really. I blame James.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Come sit by me Ronan, I always blame James!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

And bagels :(

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

slice of wholegrain bread
cheese spread with ham, turkey and gherkin bits, laced with mustard
german salami
segments of medium mature cheddar cheese
slices of cooked pork and leek sausage
playful splash of mushroom ketchup
slice of wholegrain bread

i no longer need a job, now i have the sandwich

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I just realized there's a Mediterranean buffet not too far from here that's got falafel! And baklava!!! (lunch plans: set)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh, sum baklava for me please, i luuurrrvvvveeee the stuff!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

haha playful splash i like that, but i do not like baklava far toooo sweet

james (james), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

A real freakin bagel, ideally a salt bagel with jalapeno cheese that's got a little shredded cheddar mixed in. Oh, and dammit, now I'm wanting bubble tea cause I had it the last time I had a good bagel.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

what is bubble tea

james (james), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Go forth and learn.

Thy Lethal Zen Ned (Ned), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

My local grocers is owned by Iranians, and they always have baklava and other unbelievably sweet and bad for you eastern goodies. They're all yours, Pinkie.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

mmmmm thank munch you, yum, mmmmm

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Pizza for dinner tonight then kids!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I just want a nice cup of tea.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks to this thread, I was such a pregnant woman yesterday... I can't believe how much I ate. I haven't eaten that much in years. I had hashed browns from McDonalds for breakfast, a huge greasy burrito from Qdoba for lunch, peanut butter & jelly sandwich for dinner, then around 9 I pigged out on mint chocolate chip ice cream and dill pickles. I must be having a hormonal thing.

Mandee, Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

The burrito is because you're building up your stores now before you must leave to the land of not-Mexican food.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I had barbecued kebabs and suasages and burgers and CHAMPAGNE last night woo. Felt sick when I got home though.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I want a hostess cupcake.

Now.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 21 August 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Still dim sum.
My spicy tuna melt at lunch did hit the spot, though.

ac, Thursday, 21 August 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

then around 9 I pigged out on mint chocolate chip ice cream and dill pickles.

!!!

Leee (Leee), Thursday, 21 August 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

ten months pass...
holygoddammit I really want some Giordano's stuffed pizza NOW. I think they sell personal pies around lunch times so maybe I'll make a trip over there.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i want one, too, if only to see what all the fuss is about.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Philadelphia Cream Cheese

Submitted by Jason Feifer

My father and I used to eat Philadelphia Cream Cheese by the slice. We'd buy one of those bricks of cream cheese, the type wrapped in easily torn and obviously ineffective foil, and dig in with butter knives. Slice, gulp. Slice, gulp. The stuff was so slippery and smooth, so cool as it oozed down my throat, that I sometimes didn't chew. We laughed as we ate, our cream-cheese-covered teeth glowing and bulbous. It wasn't until seventh grade, when I mentioned this to a friend, that I discovered that the world does not eat cream cheese by the slice. In fact, the world thinks that eating cream cheese by the slice is disgusting. Who knew?

Ade (Adrian Langston), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

what the world needs now is MY MOM'S RHUBARB PIE

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Lauren, I recommend having it with spinach (never used to like spinach---in pizza or anywhere else--but it grew on me. perhaps I should bathe more often har har), black olives, and onions.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

but right now I'm craving a slice with sausage.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

POUTINE! (clap clap clap) POUTINE! (clap clap clap) POUTINE (clap clap clap)

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm craving something tomatoey. Pizza might do the trick.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

mince and onions in gravy with mash, I've been craving this for the last two days

chris (chris), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds good, oops. if i order now, can they get it to the tri-state area by lunch?

xpost - we should hit up la foccaceria on first ave sometime, jbr. such good red-sauce italian.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually: nachos. With melted golden cheese. And salsa. And guac. And sour cream. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Good fresh seafood. Preferably shellfish.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Oooh nachos with too much avocado goodness. Chocolate mousse pie.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

goddamn now I'm hungry for that kind of classy little-green-spices-on-it tomato-heavy pizza that I associate with NY.

Clearly I know my food terminology.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

And smoked bluefish cakes! Goddammit. Seven years ago, I broke up with this woman who used to take me to this Boston joint with smoked bluefish cakes on the menu and bottles of sriracha on the table, and I've been missing em ever since.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, I'm talking a "sharing platter" size of nachos now. At Glasto I would have been happy with a small paper plate. The craving is growing exponentially, well, it's not ACTUALLY, but I don't know what another word which means "getting bigger the more I want it", you know what I mean, don't you - it's only mathss.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

hey lauren, have you seen this site?

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

if you can point me to any place in london that has decent nachos, i'll buy you as many platters as you'd like.

xpost

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for linking that - it's great.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

oh god, some nachos with REAL cheese and guac and olives and sour cream does sound incredibly good.

if i order now, can they get it to the tri-state area by lunch?

I don't think so but I know they do have a mail-order service! It's ridiculously expensive since it has to be kept refrigerated/frozen.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

It is great, but I hope it doesn't become one big advertisement for the piPod. Some of us luddites still use the internet to get our pizza information!

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I dig olives, I dig nachos, I'm not sure I ever grokked the olives-on-nachos thing. Maybe I dig the wrong kind of olives?

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 July 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno. But on a related note, have you ever had 7-layer dip?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

1. Review your order from Giordanos Chicago Style Pizza

Item Options Unit
Price Quantity Subtotal
Mail Order Pizza: Spinach Plus 2 Ingredients
1: Black Olives
2: Onions 21.15 1 21.15
Total Purchases 21.15
Shipping 24.25
Tax 1.32
Total for Giordanos Chicago Style Pizza 46.72

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

See, I don't like seven layer dip. It seems a little rude to the individual layers somehow.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

that's a pricey lunch.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-but it's like there's a party in my mouth, and everyone's invited
xpost

sorry, been too long since i've used that (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Lauren, that's for a 12inch, which could last one person 3 lunches easily. Still expensive though.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm having an insane craving for pineapple upside-down cake.

I DONT THINK IVE EVEN HAD PINEAPPLE UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE?!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

It's pretty good stuff!

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmm. That sounds good.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i've been wanting german chocolate cake. like really good german-bakery-style german chocolate cake.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I want some really garlicky seafood pasta. So I think I'll make some.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The remains of the beef fajitas we made the other night. You haven't eaten them, have you, Sarah...?

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

re: pineapple upside-down cake: i've never had one, either, but it's something i'd like to try. i'm sure my gran's better homes and gardens spiral-bound cookbook has a good recipe. i think this was a dessert mentioned frequently in old movies/tv shows (see also: icebox cake).

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd like a pork and apple sausage sarnie

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I craved that awhile ago, and made one myself using a betty crocker or duncan hines box, but it wasn't all that and I still have a lingering craving.

xpost

damn you matt! I'm in one of my EVERYTHING sounds good phases. Matt, I have to thank you because I often make the simple garlicky seafood pasta recipe you posted on some thread.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

It's good. I'm not that big on pineapple, but cooking it with the cinnamon and stuff really tones down the tartness.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like a pork too.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

You're very welcome Oops.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I want some nice garlicky cheese grits.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Thursday, 1 July 2004 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

omg. cheese grits!!
