I actually have recently stopped marking my place in books, cuz I realized one night that, in the struggle-to-find-where-you-left-off, you get a nice little refresher, k-like when a TV show starts out and it gives you the "what-happened-last-week" blurb, but with words on paper. So I'm gonna say CLASSIC LIKE CAVEMENSESES WAS JURASSIC.

nickalicious i think you've nailed it. If you can't remember what page you were on then you WEREN'T PAYING ATTENTION IN THE FIRST PLACE: it's time for a new book.

haha, I just remembered when my wife, very early in our relationship, was surprised that I put down a book at night without using a bookmark. As it happened, I was able to say that it was a nice easy number to remember that night, 729. She looked puzzled. "It's three to the power of six," I said, a key moment in my grasping that most people didn't see numbers the way I did.

I use a marker nowadays, since I started reading on trains.

Ever heard of using a long piece of string to mark your place? Works wonders. If you are really absentminded, tie one end to the spine of your book, the other to your finger. The lack of feeling should remind you that the string is there for some reason.

When I was younger, I used the Martin method, able to remember that it was page 220 that I was on because, well, come on, it's 220! You know, like the overseas electricity. (Or even, 220, because it's 220 and who could confuse that with another number?)

Now I'm more into the Nickalicious method. Except inasmuch as I don't seem to read much anymore.
