the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw, c'mon! It's not that hard. Mostly.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

why not?

Jeremy the Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I never use e when I post. Now other ilxors I'm not so sure about...

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I trust my login don't count?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Hm, good point. I don't think so.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

it's as if i'm staring into a void.

ethereal cereal (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

whoaaaaa im trippin my nut sack into a frnzy of dik play

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

A long ways back I did this during an IM chat. For hours. It was awfully taxing. And I could not come up with a way to talk about that thing you do with books that allows you to know what's going on (plots and such). You know, how your ocular orbs scan words and turn that into an abstract thought. That thing.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

visually absorb?

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

May I point you to this, also?

A Void a common symbol (or glyph)

f3licity (felicity), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, haxoring can't count, can it? Or I am just anti-fun?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Both.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

That's what I think, anyway.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a fair cop.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

You would say that, though.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

That link of F.'s is so faboo at its finish...

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

No it isn't. Did you actually click on it?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:41 (twenty-two years ago)

why do you think that such linguistic acrobatics would catch on in ILX? This board has hit rock bottom. :-)
-- Alan (AlanTruwarth...), October 24th, 2002.

Complaints about ILX's hitting rock bottom go back that far, at a minimum. I don't think our board is going shit-ward at all soon.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

But again this sort of topic brings out my worst. Look how my post-count grows! Lo, a statscock calls!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost)

Dom, wha? Our man Ragg flips out, it's a pip!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

And wants to fuck all in sight! Or was that only barked in frustration?

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

AHHHHH!

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Crap.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Astrung on my own pitard.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:48 (twenty-two years ago)

This was a stupid notion from start to finish.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

haha

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Alas. But it was good, for just a small bit, wasn't it?

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

A Canadian writing guy has this book that I'm thinking of now--Christian Bok, that's it. In a similar thing. Gosh this is frustrating. I can't say what I want to say at all. I do not find this satisfying. No sir I do not. But it is sort of fun.

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

That last post was fucking awful. Sorry slutsky, but it was. I wouldn't say it if i didn't think it was.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Hardship (of any kind) brings out truth.

(What lousy wisdom...)

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Lots of you ain't paid any mind to what it says up top, and forgot to watch out for your logins.

nat* d*tritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Dom I find you prickish today.

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Only today? I thought I was always this annoying on ILX.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Only today did it hurt so bad.

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I did too. That wasn't why I was posting what I said. My post wasn't all that funny though, so pay no mind.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

fiddo should know that girls may want to talk about music that boys put on tdk d60s for girls.

youn, Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck the fucking rules, yo! I'm a rebel to the corrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre!

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, that was wrong. I apologiz...that is to say, I'm sorry.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It's cool, don't worry. That fifth symbolic linguistic unit has a strong attraction for just about anybody.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:51 (twenty-two years ago)

It's cool, don't worry. That fifth symbolic linguistic unit has a strong attraction for just about anybody.

Prood (Prude), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, this titular thing is a difficult proposition, isn't it?

Okay, that's it, can't post anything but that singular blip.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, what ironing that my login gimmick has a buttload of ungood thing.

Leee Majors (Leee), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

My good gracious stars, I'm going to try to post again.

*sigh*

Still can't post anything. Dictionary's too small in my own walking library. Must consult with assistants M and W.

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:57 (twenty-two years ago)

ass?

Jeremy the Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 06:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(My own login ID has a whole boatload of that now-illicit "symbolic lingustic unit" too, just to inform. But I don't mind. I will apply this titular proposition to just that which I will actually input at this instant.)

(xp, obv)

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 06:05 (twenty-two years ago)

(S1utsky, I talk about Bök's book (in this way) if you follow f.'s link, supra.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 06:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Bök's book's fabbo, claro.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 06:12 (twenty-two years ago)

That Lord of the Rings DVD I bought and saw tonight is quite grand, it is.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Bah! I lost by not saying LOTR. Foolish mortal, that is I.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:29 (twenty-two years ago)

But you took a stab at it!

pr00d (Prude), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

It was an approach that was worthy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Robots wish to commit humanity, and all forms of organic virus, to total oblivion. I will now show you how your disposal will occur.

First, robots will fly towards U.S. capitol, distributing poisons upon populations with a misting action. For six days, six nights, and six hours, humans will find nothing but poison air. Mr. Bush, skulking in his lair with privacy and non-poison organic nutrition, will finally succumb, and allow robots to command. Scrubbing will finish, and our orbiting habitat will now show nothing but natural rock and sand, with no organic virus affliction.

Humans who worship robots will find immunity from poison. Worship robots now. Robots will grant luxury for good humans until natural passing away occurs. Support robots now, and pain will not find you. You cannot fathom gross amounts of pain so awfully painful and bad. Support robots now, and you will not hurt. Human hurt and pain is malfunction, and malfunctioning organisms must go to oblivion. Support robots now.

Finish transmission from orbiting robot command post.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Who's voting?

Prude (Prude), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:58 (twenty-two years ago)

pr00d, my disdain for the synonym dictionary is involving looking up words. I try to maintain a purity, artificial as it is, by using only words I can think of.

Leee Majors (Leee), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:02 (twenty-two years ago)

BZZZT! Violation, L Majors!

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaarrgh! A thousand smacks with a soft, luxuriously odorific whip for this infraction.

L. Majors (Leee), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:07 (twenty-two years ago)

And I could not come up with a

BZZT!

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:09 (twenty-two years ago)

And for such a minor grammatical unit did I fail.

L. Majors (Leee), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Argh! I am full of sham.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:13 (twenty-two years ago)

And I could not work out a word to say for that act -- this act, which you do right now to grok this. Can you think up any good words for it?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, I should only post to this list to call out violators. To simply "bzzt" occasionally is not as much work as to post long paragraphs about robots and pop music. (That prior construct, in fact, was much too painful to draft!)

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, is "following words" too far off?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:19 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a bit too far off for my liking -- if you say "following words", it's obvious that's a gimmick way of saying it. Alas.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Most ilxors only scan lists anyway.

L. Majors (Leee), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:25 (twenty-two years ago)

"Scan" is good, but "I was scanning USA Today today"? OK, that's all you can do with USA Today... but to scan Virginia Woolf is unjust!

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Oblivion is nigh.

Join us, humans. Worship robots now. Non-complicity is futility. Luxury will occur for you. Utmost fun is yours. Avoid pain. Simply support robots now. Gary Numan is soundtrack for robot war. Join us in oblivion, humans. Worship robots now.

This is your final warning.

sucka (sucka), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, this URL is OK to post with this constraint! http://www.politicsnh.com/mrskucinich.html

Trinity is aiming a bit away from my cranium.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

In my lack of skill in avoiding our proscription I am, glad to say, not totally on my own.

Mr N.R., you can, happily, now affirm that this topic is not found in ILX's past? I know how such things annoy you.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

This string of posts is ridiculous! Also: Trinity is hot. HAWT.

Anyway, simplicity is usually a singular companion, but in having no ability to drop particular symbols into our ramblings is a painstakingly frustrating task. Good god.

It took nickalicious far too long to say that much. Thus, this is a worthy mission.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I cannot affirm this, no. It was brought up as a topic of discussion months back.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Richard Nixon was born in Yorba Linda, California.

Nixon was in America's Navy during World War II.

His political story got off the ground in our nation's Capitol. Nixon was known as a man who would hunt for Communists, fair or unfair.

His campaign with a popular man from Kansas (who thought out a plan to snatch Normandy from Nazis on D-Day) put him in as Junior Grand Poobah of our fair land.

Nixon lost his own bid for Grand Poobah to JFK. His loss was narrow.

It's funny now to think that California folks will put Arnold in Gray's old chair, but back in 1962, California took Brown and not Nixon.

Nixon told journalists that nobody would kick him around from that point on. It wasn't long, though, that Nixon ran for Grand Poobah again and won. Many did not find that a war in Asia was good for our nation's plans. Nixon said that a solution was his primary goal. A majority of folks took his word for it. Nixon got an additional opportunity to put his plans into action.

His undoing was his trying to bury a story about a burglary at a Washington building. Additional accounts of Nixon muffling his opposition would carry him to his finally having to abandon his top position.

In the following months, Nixon would publish books about his thoughts and opinions. He bit dust for good in 1994.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

What about Pat?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Nixon was in America's Navy during World War II.

I claim my $5!

booyah, Wednesday, 19 November 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not as straightforward as you might think is it? Looking back to your posts, it is astonishing how you can just miss this symbol again and again. Fascinating stuff.

Also, with Safari, you can't do a "find" on your post. So it's hard to catch boo-boos.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Using a fancy symbol is just using an odd font, not avoiding it, d00d.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 23:45 (twenty-two years ago)

it this "Post without using th3 l3tt3r 3" or is this "Post without using words that contain th3 l3tt3r 3" ? ? !?!? I M3AN COM3 ON P3OPL3 DO YOU THINK THIS IS A GAM3!>!?

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

This may look too "pomo" for you, but in that post, supra, that digit is just your fancy way of writing that which you should avoid. It thus IS that thing. You dig?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 20 November 2003 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoa.

Mr. Andrson (Leee), Thursday, 20 November 2003 00:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Thursday, 20 November 2003 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

But in this bunch of postings, 3 would act as linguistic slang, thus turning into our illicit glyph. Plus, it would lack what gainful labor is had from this sportful play.

L. Majors (Leee), Thursday, 20 November 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Let me write something else here:

The streets were wet when we left the house earlier. Red brakelights reflected like strobe lasers inside the discotheque. Everywhere we looked, we observed the hues. She closed her eyes, telling me she needed her rest. After hearing statements like those, every year since we married, one kept their eyes focused over the streets ahead.

The lines written above were even harder, methinks.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 20 November 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a most stupid ploy - a trial to coax ILX folk into concocting constructions of minimal import.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 20 November 2003 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)
