Oh, y'all know what to do by now...

This is the thread where I say ... Part VIII

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

hi!

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm in san francisco in one week and one day! to scout the joint and see my special californian friends!

huzzah!

Kingfish Beatbox (Kingfish), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

(Luna, sweetie, "VIII" means "8".)

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck, I meant to type 9.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

It's 11:18, and already it's been a longer day than I know what to do with.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

it's 1:20

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

No, it's 11:20.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

it feels like I've been here since about 3 am

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

No, Casuistry, it's 11:21. You liar.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, Ned makes a valid point.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

you're all wrong! it's 1:22, or in the Lunar Numerals: T:WF

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

WE DO NOT RECOGNIZE YOUR HEATHEN PLAINS CLOCK.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

1:23
I got an email last night from an ex who found me through Classmates. She seems to be doing well after going through a couple of very bad relationships and is now living with a cop in Saskatoon. Odd that she would suddenly want to talk after 11 years. Nice to catch up I guess.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

If I was living with a cop in Saskatoon, I'd be thinking about better times too.

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Does Saskatoon lack romance?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

ps, hey Brian (and maybe Chris P too) did you that the Conservative Party nixed Grant Devine's nomination?

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

She sounds happy for the most part. Perhaps that's why she felt it was ok to start to talk to people like me. I hurt her terribly and yet she's still friendly. Very strange.

Grant Devine always made me think of deveined shrimp so I've always imagined him to be smelly.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost:

Ned, it depends on who you ask, Stompin' Tom bemoans being "alone in Saskatoon" in "Prairie Moon" but the Guess Who think it's worth "Running Back To..."

but the Saskatoon Police have, in the last few years, come under numerous scandals over their lack of cultural sensitivity

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, so yesterday Jake (my bass player, Ned's old roommate, etc.) was showing me a link about the Humboldt, Iowa, Polka Fest. It's a long weekend of polka music and includes a polka mass. Jake grew up near there and so we're totally hyped and wanting to go and thinking about becoming a polka band.

I do a google.

AND it turns out that there is a weekend-long Polka Fest feature a polka mass in Humboldt, SASKATCHEWAN! I nearly pee my pants with delight.

So now I have a new dream, one that involves seeing BOTH the Humboldt Polka Fests.

Huck, are you at all down with that scene?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, did you even LISTEN to my album? All the love is in Regina.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

hell yeah!
aside from the very German sounding name Humboldt, what are the odds that there would be TWO Humboldt Polka Fest?

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, did you even LISTEN to my album? All the love is in Regina.

I have heard of these 'lyrics.'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

in a couple of minutes I'm going for training on the new Photocopier!

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm betting the guy is an RCMP officer as she worked for the mounties. She's almost the last person I would have ever expected to end up with a cop but whatever floats her boat is cool with me.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I suppose I should dig up the Right Wing Canada thread, but it's weird how the new Conservatives have kicked out three Saskatchewanis (though Pankiw was actually turfed before the merger), and one of their biggest pains-in-ass is a fourth (Orchard).

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

19:41, I think I will play video games now, see ya.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved what Rick Mercer had to say about Belinda Stronach. The Alliance pushes for this new party then a candidate from Ontario who will get support from Ontario and Quebec comes along and makes it so the west will lose their voice again. What Mercer say to the Conservatives: "don't try stuff"?

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

the new photocopier is going to ruin my life.

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

actual headline on the CP wire:
Celine Dion supports organization for people with intellectual disabilities

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 19 February 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

xp with huck haha

Is that dizzy party still going on? Because I'd be a permanent member, more so right now. I've got that whole laying-down-drunk feeling. I hate that one. If I'm going to feel like I'm drunk, I'd like to at least have that whole fun exuberance of it.

Thanks for telling tales of your ass on that other thread, Chris V. I needed a smile, and ass stories amuse me.

Hi all!

JuliaA (j_bdules), Thursday, 19 February 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I really want a root beer float.

I'll probably play video games soon too.

Oh yeah, 3:43.

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 19 February 2004 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I would kill someone for a root beer float right now.

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 19 February 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick, wait for me to get a float. YUM!

Only 1 hour and 13 minutes left of work today.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 19 February 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes! I get to have a root beer float - and Sarah's buying!

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 19 February 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn it. I mean, great.

Julia, that's what Nick told me the other day. I called him and was complaining about being fuzzy headed and dizzy and he said I should just pretend I'm on drugs at work. That worked for a little while, but let me tell you, work is SUCH a buzzkill.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 19 February 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I am new to this work thing again, and I find that being extremely busy most of the time allows me to not notice what shit it is to have to be here in the first place. I am surprised that I didn't notice this in the past. Perhaps all of my previous jobs have been easier than my skills warrant.

martin m. (mushrush), Thursday, 19 February 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I want a root beer float! I have this mug of tea but wow, I didn't even think about a root beer float.

Also, it's only 2:08, you have nearly 3 hours more. Sorry!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 19 February 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

You play with the idea of time zones, Chris, but here it really is 2:08, and I really do have about four more hours of work. So bah!

martin m. (mushrush), Thursday, 19 February 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey dudes! Sarah and I are about to watch episode 13 of series 1 of The Sopranos - we started with ep. 1 on Saturday and our marathon is almost over. It makes me sad :(

(10.40pm, yo)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 19 February 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

martin, I've found that those jobs which were below my skill level were often the shittiest ones.

Viva La Sam (thatgirl), Thursday, 19 February 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Does that include teaching?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 20 February 2004 01:06 (twenty-one years ago)

No. not at all. ths job is shitty b/c of the way our country works and how we treat the most helpless members of society.

It's never, ever boring and if anything overwhelms me and my skill set.

Viva La Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 20 February 2004 01:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Fair enough.

If I were in charge, our most helpless members of society would have all the Taco Bell they could want!

This is, of course, why I'm not in charge.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 20 February 2004 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, I'm terribly sorry you've discovered that.

I suppose it'd be nice to live in innocence and with idealistic views, but unfortunately one cannot expect to do that AND function in this world of ours.

Root beer sounds good. So does listening to some Minor Thirds stuff, but at the moment I'd rather listen to something more shimmery. More dancey. I'm just going through a "I want to have fun" period right now. It's working ever so slightly.

I feel so alien walking into this sort of thread again. Have been mucho busy over the course of the past several days. Am totally worn out. But I'm still awake because... ?

(It's currently 12:23 a.m. locally.)

Hope those of you who've noticed a lack of updates on my little LJ thing will see that I've started updating again. And thus concludes the "shameless promotion" portion of tonight's TITTWIS post. :)

Huge hugs to everyone.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:24 (twenty-one years ago)

(Many additional notes, including:

I've decided to get back to a nickname I loved. I'm hoping to eventually settle on one nickname and keep it for a good, long while, but as for now my nickname, like my life, will remain in flux.

[Well, I didn't say I'd list ALL the notes here, hm? *wink*])

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Dee methinks you are keeping a delicious secret young lady! Nice to see you here. *hugs*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 February 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you been boning, Dee?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 20 February 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn crazy Canadiens!

Chris V (Chris V), Friday, 20 February 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Update: we did indeed have root beer floats last night. And since Breyers Ice Cream was buy one, get one free, I bought chocolate ice cream too.

Our cat keeps doing this thing where she goes in the corner between the wall and the couch, stretches out with her claws in the couch like she's scratching it, then meows plaintively like she's stuck, even though she's perfectly capable of getting out. She seriously does this about 3 or 4 times in a row.

I have made a resolution to go do something today so I don't get lethargic and depressed like I did yesterday.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 20 February 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

One of those fuxing days where everybody else is hindering my work! If you do your job properly, I can do mine, do you see? aaarrrggghhhh!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

omg I am SO bored.

Can I wrong some rights and give y'all something to fix?

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm about to find out what my latest pseudonym is.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

second assignment figure out what's wrong with my power cord so my laptop doesn't die. :(

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Go for it Mark!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Y'all go take the quiz about me at my site:

www.askforjanice.com

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Why the question mark with Mark Farner, Huck?

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

So that readers wouldn't confuse Mark Farner? with Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 March 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Or the Butthole Surfers' (female) dog.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, I did your quiz, I got 60.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

and also because I just cut and pasted the list from an email I sent to the editor I'm using an alias for and forgot to delete that one question mark.

xpost

I read that in Spin like ten years ago, and that's probably the one fact I remember from my high school years best.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

almost passing pink! ;)

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Damnit!! In my defence I mis-read a question as 'most liked local band' when it should have been 'most hated'! Ah well!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm seriously fed the fuck up over here. When the shit did I become the Customer Service representative for this fucking place? Why the hell am I receiving all the bitchy complaints from readers when I can do JACK SHIT about anything? I want to punch someone's lights out, specifically, the fux0r whose REAL JOB it is to handle this bullshit. I do NOT like to get this fed up this early in the day.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Jeanne, I read yr Su!c!de Goils article (because the tour might be coming here and Luna sent me the link) and it was really good. You writes good.
I also sent the link to a friend/promoter who might be booking them and he really liked it too.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, pink, yeah that had some trick answers.

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Jeanne, ya want us to come over and lay the smack down?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna's your gal for smackdowns Jeanne!

And I guessed the 'Giant' one too! But hey, the will was there right?!!! :-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

So far Markelby is at the top of the class above Kephm and Pink with a score of 70

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That question I messed up was prob worth 20 points, so let's be honest about this, I win!! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, i think they're all worth 10.

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I got "Giant" wrong. I just thought of the shape of your specs and went for "Breakfast at Tiffanys".

(but 70, suckahs ;))

(p.s. I used to have one of these, but it no longer exists. One of the questionsd was "how many boys have I kissed: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or more?" The first person to get the correct answer was the TENTY-SEVENTH person to try. Can you guess what it was?)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

4?

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

tenty?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

the tattoo one threw me

kephm, Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what these hockey guys I used to hang out with called a teammate who would always get an erection after showering with the team (and would hopelessly try to cover it with his towel). (x-post)

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah i got the tat one wrong too!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

then it is a good test. ex-cellent.

Ask For Janice (thatgirl), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

(the correct answer is 0, btw)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

oooooooh. Damned little elf man.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

So i didn't realise you'd got a different tat then Sam!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I got 80 on Sam's quiz, but I dunno, the fact that the scores were public made me feel really nervous. Like what if I got a bunch wrong, or something? How awful would I look?

Still, I might make one of my own that's completely impossible.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 11 March 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

just outta curiosity, who big are we gonna let this thread get?
