How do you pronounce "grebt" ?

When you see a word printed that has extra letters in it, what pronunciation goes through your mind? Do you always hear each letter? Do words that you use all the time sound correct or do you phonetically think those words too?

Examples:
through
grebt
people

.. just wondering. Because I was thinking I hear "grebt" at "Gret" with an almost silent B. I'm not sure it's even pronouncable, but I can hear it that way. So I wondered if everyone does it the same way or if people do vastly different things...

I heard Tom Ewing say 'grebt" once. He said GREBT with an audible B.

And by the way, I have to stop myself from trying to pronounce it with an almost silent B everytime I'm in a group of people and I want to say "great" ... so thanks, ILX.

I'd pronounce it with an audible B, but with a T similar to 'doubt'

the mispelling was due to someone we know receiving a drunken txt msg from an ex-boyfriend claiming she "gave grebt head"

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 29 February 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, then who is grebt?

Sengai, Sunday, 29 February 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

??? sigh, the B was accidental and should have been an A. this was in the days before predictive text...
