Oh that wacky guy

NORFOLK, Va. - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Friday he
believes God has told him President Bush will be re-elected in a
"blowout" in November. "The Lord has just blessed him," Robertson said of Bush. "I mean, he could make terrible mistakes and comes out of it. It doesn't make any difference what he does, good or bad, God picks him up because he's a man of prayer and God's blessing him."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Robertson has God confused with the Bildenberg (sp???) Group again.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it would be a great, great day for all of mankind if someone hit Pat Robertson in the head with the business end of a ball pine hammer.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

ball-peen

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

this is kinda old news - did we ever have a thread over what andy rooney said?

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

whoops, spelling mishap. Ball pine sounds like an exotic tree.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

or what lonely lumberjacks do in winter

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

BA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

this is kinda old news - did we ever have a thread over what andy rooney said?

I don't remember a thread about Rooney specificially, but it was definitely mentioned on the big Mel Gibson's a nut thread.

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

here

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

is anyone surprised by this?

and alex, i'd prefer the nail-gun treatment to the ball-peen hammer treatment for mr. robertson.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah well, it deserves its own thread of opprobrium.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like people are just DARING Americans to not vote for Bush at this point..

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

"jesus thinks you're a jerk" lyrics. almost as timely today as it was in 1988.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Robertson said of Bush. "I mean, he could make terrible mistakes and comes out of it.

ha ha ha "could"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Also: do they not learn them thurr students no grammars in theology school?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

grammar is the handiwork of satan

i bet that Jesus will caress pat's prostate with His foot when pat meets up with Him.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely there has got to be some dirt on this guy. I watch the 700 Club, and they raise ridiculous amounts of money. There must be some sleazy bullshit going on in his outfit, because the man is clearly an opportunist and phony. I mean, I saw more spirituality in the televangelists who were brought down in the 80s than I do in this guy.

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus' mind is clearly elsewhere.

How blessed are those who slouch in alleyways with navel-exposing T-shirts, for they shall see God, with bonus tracks on a Rhino reissue.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

ah yes, the Beat-on-the-Bratitudes, the most uplifting part of the New Testament

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Kerry, well there was the whole thing about Robertson fibbing about his military record back when he ran for president.

hstencil, Friday, 27 February 2004 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

RAMONES 3:16!

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Wasn't Pat Robertson's wife pregnant when she married him.? I don't know how big that is on the "dirt" scale, but it is a bit hypocritical of him. Premarital sex OH NO!!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

H-O-L-Y, everyone's accusing thy!

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Does Pat Robertson need dirt? I mean, seriously, I doubt Bush will want to be seen next to him, much less touch him.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

we're a happy Trinity, we're a happy Trinity -- Dad, the Holy Spirit, and Me

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

When I get to hell and see Pat Robertson being molested by a demon in priest garb, it will be a GREAT day.

except for the "me dying and going to hell" part that is.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I would think you anti-Bush folks would appreciates Robertson's efforts in nourishing a sense of complacency and "don't worry about getting out to vote - it'll be a blowout" back-firing campaign laziness in his target demographic.

Stuart (Stuart), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, we DO, Stuart. We do.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Robertson and the Bush administration have mutual friends in the neo-conservatives, it seems. Robertson has people like Michael Ledeen on his show.

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Whatever happened to Ralph Reed anyway?

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

The YAFfers can tell ya.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

ralph reed's the head of the georgia gop, and bigwig in southern strategy generally. they're looking at picking up five seats in the senate this fall, with the eventual goal of filibuster proof congress. after 2002 i wouldn't put it past him either.

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

he's not affiliated directly (ie. any more directly than the president) with the christian right anymore, though i'm sure he's kept their numbers in his rolodex.

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ralph reed worked on saxby chambliss's campaign, yes?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, look at that YAF list! It's Tammy "I'm not a right-winger" Bruce!

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

If only Robert Tilton were still in business to tell us what God is really thinking: "koda bosanda kurabunda da basoya laba ka laba ka... Satan, get out of that woman's colon!"

Nemo (JND), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

H-O-L-Y, everyone's accusing thy!

HAhahahahahahahahahaha

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Although...

I would think you anti-Bush folks would appreciates Robertson's efforts in nourishing a sense of complacency and "don't worry about getting out to vote - it'll be a blowout" back-firing campaign laziness in his target demographic.

I disagree this will really back-fire that much. One thing you have to admit.. The Christian Right are very well organized voters. the "God Will Re-Elect" line is probably just a call for *ahem* God's sheep to do His work for him on election day, etc. etc.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(and of course, I'm not talking about all Christians here, just that particular segment who have a more obsequious "following" personality)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Robertson is rallying his flock because he likes Bush's homophobia.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

One of my favorite birthdays ever was when Michael Huffington (husband or former(?) of Arianna Huffington), who once paid big bucks to run a very Christian Republican campaign to dethrone Diane Feinstein as California senator 10 years ago (and failed by a slim margin), came out on my birthday. The more hilarious part of the headline (being paraphrased of course), was the subsequent subtext..

Michael Huffington says he is homosexual

and sources also say he might be a Democrat

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha that reminds me of a funny headline from a newspaper in my old hometown of Woodstock IL:

"Japanese veterans protest Enola homosexual exhibit"

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not too sure it really will backfire either, I just hate to see people making public assurances of things that depend on the audience staying motivated.

Stuart (Stuart), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

is pat robertson's penis fancy?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

If Robertson repeats this statement shortly before the election, however, I think there will be a definite degree of backfiring... People generally don't like being told that their will has no effect... whether they are Christian or not (excepting Pat's followers). Perhaps in the best interest of the anti-Bush, Robertson will repeat this statement near election day.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

eisbar, I really hope that's a reference to something i don't get, otherwise I'm taking MC Skat Kat's advice, and having you take two steps forward while I take two steps back.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I predict that a hurricane will destroy Pat Robertson

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

now jack was nimble and jack was quick
but it was skat kat that made jack trip
i burned him on the butt with a flic of my bic
and then i cold ran away with the candle stick

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Pat Robertson shot himself in the head. Maybe that was Rush Limbaugh. Or maybe it was just a fantasy.

ball pein, actually.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 27 February 2004 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha blount are you on the wrong thread?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 27 February 2004 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

http://unexaminethis.lunarpages.com/676/archives/pix/rickman-metatron-2-web.jpg
"So...you see, if Bush loses the election, that means God is not infallible and thus existence dissappears."

So says the Metatron.

BUSH 2004

Because the existence of the universe depends on it.

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Beware of false prophets, etc..

although calling Robertson a prophet seems way too generous.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

"It doesn't make any difference what he does, good or bad, God picks him up because he's a man of prayer and God's blessing him."

This is why religion bloooooows

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

So have those Supreme Court members who voted against sodomy banning laws been cast into the hellfires yet?

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't worry, judging religion by a Pat Robertson quote is like judging food by a cold French fry in a warm ashtray.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

If G-d says Bush will win, then why vote? Everyone should just stay home this November.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

God is a complete gobshite.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, maybe I'm on to something here. If everyone who plans to vote for Bush listens to Pat Robertson, then they'll know that there's no need to bother voting, because G-d is going to take care of everything. Therefore, everyone who would vote for Bush will stay home, and Kerry will win in a landslide.
SPREAD THE WORD OF PAT ROBERTSON!!

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Stuart mentioned that possibility earlier, cursing the possibility that Bush could lose because of this.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Wishful thinking, but if you watch the 700 Club, you know that there will be plenty of 'homosexual updates' to terrorize the faithful into voting for Bush.

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

robertson is made of strong stuff to spout all the bullshit he spouts and not end up in the dustbin like father coughlin

or maybe he just hasn't crossed the wrong administration yet

amateur!st (amateurist), Friday, 27 February 2004 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

or perhaps, unlike Father Coughlin, he owns his own network.

hstencil, Friday, 27 February 2004 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

rick santorum has been hangin' with pat on the 700 club, bashing the homos.

why does pennsylvania tolerate this man?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 28 February 2004 06:14 (twenty-two years ago)

fart in santorum's face and call it a party

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 28 February 2004 06:52 (twenty-two years ago)

to think, santorum beat a genuinely GOOD guy (harris wolford) in 1994. i mean, i know that pa b/w philly & pittsburgh allegedly = alabama -- but you could also say that about NY state b/w nyc & buffalo; or oregon outside of portland. and neither of those states have frothing loonies in the senate (no hillary jokes, please)!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 28 February 2004 06:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought coughlin had his own radio station for a while

amateur!st (amateurist), Saturday, 28 February 2004 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)
