I Love Books Linked On Guardian Online-Scary Or Cool?

And by extension, ILX, cuz one of the links goes to Ilxor.com. Eyeball Kicks pointed it out on the thread that is written about. The thread in question has been wildly popular by ILB standards and it is a hoot. I started noticing a ton of unfamiliar names posting to it as of the 28th of Feb, so i'm guessing it was linked elsewhere on the web. These same unfamiliar posters have only posted there and nowhere else on the board. So, should i be scared? I kinda like the way that ILB has been growing month by month, but in a manageable way. Jessa's link on her Bookslut site gave the board a nice kick in the butt early on. Also early on, I would do a little cheerleading and post on all the threads to keep things moving. But i don't have to do that anymore. Things move briskly now. I know that ILX has been written up in the past and i'm wondering if there was any noticeable effect. I've been enjoying the slow and steady accumulation of posters and it's a really cool, mellow place to be. Um, am i worrying about nothing? Thanks.

Oooh...just read I luv books thread. Felt odd; reading something with ILE stylee URl, and ILE stylee formatting but not knowing the names of posters; kind of Twilight Zone effect of weirdness.

Also, like finding out that have neighbours living in the attic who you didn't even know you were there. Maybe it's just me...

You should check out I Love Cricket for the complete shadow-world effect. Okay, maybe it's just cool. Guardian readers are cranky and brainy, right? they would fit right in.

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, that's written by the Guardian journalist that came to the Dean FAP. He so knows where we live.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, the Harrow, but only on tuesdays.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I know that there were some ILXers on an I Love Film thread who were really against the idea of linking ILF to other film websites and boards. And I understand the parochialism cuz it's nice to think of ILX as a respite from the real world. So, i guess i am of two minds.

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

You should write a letter to Sean Dodson asking him to cease and desist from his unauthorised links to ILX.

So, on top of the Time Out story, we are fast becoming the source for the London dominated UK meejar scene. We should demand royalties. Or at least a FAP allowance from the Graun.

On a related note, I got 15 quid from the Sun today for a letter published a few weeks back. My bad?

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Was it in the sex advice section?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes; I had a romp with my soon-to-be mother and sister-in-law and now she's pregnant and I'd told my girlfriend I was infertile.

Deidre Sanders (daveb), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's time to revive all threads ever about the Guardian, just to make any newcomers feel at home.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I've just started doing that...

I stopped short of WHO THE FUCK READS THE GUARDIAN??? though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe this one?

Are all Guardian Readers Tofu-eating Cockheads?

winterland, Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

That was started by G. Instigator that ILB thread. Oh, sweet ironing.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Time Out story?

Sun letter?

We are all prostitutes.

scott if you're lucky that thread will become the ILB version of the "Jay Z/Nas throwdown" thread.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

In some ways, I'm quite relieved that ILE is in a fairly presentable state at the moment, rather than one of its periodic bouts of mentalism. That would be like inviting a load of guests into your house only for them to find your living room covered in shit.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

What you have to bear in mind is that it's in the Online section, which no one reads.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

... except geeks and menkos.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

ie. they probably read ILX already.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

As opposed to the legit. ones? (Can someone please direct me to them?)

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

ILB is great - it's like ILM circa 2000-01. Except in a couple of days time when it will become ILM circa 2004 only with more bourgeois lefties and questions about Zadie Smith and Donna Tartt.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, those Donna Tartt and Zadie Smith googlers totally ruined ILM.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

WOT UP BRETT EASTON U GOT A GIRL HOLLA

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)
