S/D: Loud Noises

Search: the chainsaw-like noise my Melita Mill & Brew makes when grinding coffee beans.

Destroy: people who speak in a loud, monotonous drill-sergeant bark ALL THE TIME

(ps-- the search function brought this piece of hilariousness up)

All coffee maker noises are k-classic, especially when accompanied by the smells of freshly ground/brewing coffee.

An old roommate one mine once had a coffee maker that made humpback whale sounds when it brewed. The coffee maker was promptly dubbed "CthulhuMaker" and it made some wonderfully harsh coffee.

one year passes...
We've got this letter-folder at work that's huge and mechanical and when you run a bunch of paper through it it goes CHUNKACHUNKACHUNKACHUNKACHUNKACHUNKACHUNKA! It's great! I want to loop it and play music over it.

One of my first jobs was in a pharmacy, and the printer that printed out the prescriptions made this strange atonal whining noise that made me think of Sonic Youth songs. So that was kinda cool.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 30 April 2005 12:28 (twenty years ago)

so i went to go look at this apartment for rent by the airport earlier,

I guess this seems as an appropriate a forum as any to share this anecdote, which I was reminded of when I saw the "teenagers on the bus" thing upthread:
Yesterday, I ended up on the 3:15 bus home from work, so at the stop in front of a high school I suddenly found myself surrounded by roughly thirty boisterous teenagers ready to get the weekend started. After several minutes of shouting, their voices lowered enough for me to hone in on the conversation between the boy next to me and the girl across the aisle:
Boy: What did you have for lunch?
Girl: Uh....oh, swordfish.
Boy: What?
Girl: Swordfish.
Boy: But...what IS it, then?
Girl: It's....swordfish?
Boy: But if it's only sorta fish, what's the rest of it?
So, Search: High school kids being cute, even if it's kind of creepy that their schools apparently offer swordfish in their cafeterias.
Destroy: The terrible TVs on the buses that blare commercials for Total cereal while I'm trying to read.
