so anyway, on various fap threads there has been discussion about seetting up something so people don't miss urgent and key drinking opportunities, so i've knocked up this:

http://www.geocities.com/carsmilesteve/testdiary.html

what do we think? crap? handy? get a life steve?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 25 March 2004 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

obv it's v basic as i am not a HTML wizard, but does it serve a purpose?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 25 March 2004 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought this thread was going to be about drinking a pint of milk.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 25 March 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i think it's a good idea and am desperately trying to resist the urge to experiment with the design as we type

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 25 March 2004 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

please feel free to rip it off and make it good steve ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 25 March 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Looks good, would like to get to one in NYC, is anyone organizing or has an idea

57 7th (calstars), Friday, 26 March 2004 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

San Francissysco?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 26 March 2004 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the combination of "San francisco!" "Sandwiches!" and "gygax!".

Of course, all of this adds weight to the "FAPs are just swingers parties in disguise" rumour.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 26 March 2004 01:51 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, it's a very good idea, but seriously. Do you really want to do that much work, keeping track of it all? Trust me, I've done this myself on another list and gave up after a few weeks.

(Yahoogroups, however, even offered an automatic calendar, as well.)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Great idea Steve!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 26 March 2004 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

right - 17th there will be a pre-wedding Fap announcement v. soon. We have yet to find a location.

26th of April - New York mega-FAP!

chris (chris), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:25 (twenty-two years ago)

i got halfway through a php fap tracker add-on for ile during my 'resting' period but then got told that there was something else already in the works so i stopped.

i'm sure there's an online public calendar app thing available which would be easier than getting steve to update html every three days.

http://www.calendars.net/ for instance and
http://www.icalx.com/ looks interesting - publicly available calendars supporting the open(?) ical format (i also like the name, like a cross between ilx and an aphex twin track title)

andy

koogs (koogs), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I've set one up here

knock yerselves out!

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Well add some bleedin' stuff then Steve! You has to have a password and that evidently.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

this rules, I am playing with all the features now and will start adding FAPS to the calendar

Anyone else can edit the calendar - if you would like to just mail me and I'll give you the username and password. I think if we have around 5 or 6 people looking after it that would be enough. Steering committee to thread.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

This could really do with being linked to on the front page of ILX, possibly. How do people feel about that?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, if we can agree on THE ONE to be used and updated etc. I think that a link to it would be urgent and key.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yes to link from the ILX front page

i like mycalendars so much i'm going to use it for my own life. if only i had one.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Good work Stevem!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't forget this one. FAP - London - 23 April

leigh (leigh), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Latest 'decision' on Brighton was 8 May I think.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

8th may, blimey that's ages!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

May is good though, it might (MIGHT) actually be sunny by then. Also I think April is rapidly approaching critical mass as far as ILX socialising goes.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

We're going to sort out a May date for Club Popular soon too.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Can you add one for the 2nd ATP weekend as well? 2nd-4th April.

jellybean (jellybean), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

You are right I guess Matt, new yoik fappage & all that!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't realise that it linked directly to the thread if you clicked on it! Excellent! RoXor!

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha, this has ruined my day - bookmark http://my.calendars.net/ilxfap/ ok?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to type the www in.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 26 March 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

okay at first I thought this was silly but that calendar really does look cool.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 26 March 2004 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay that totally rocks.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

well done my apprentice ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Once you were the pupil, now you are the master ;)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, i need to do a thread for my party innit, i know there are quite a few people i forgot to send the email to...

watch it DC...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

your powers are weak old man...

meanwhile here's the key to the major categories in case you're too STUPID to figure it out already:

green = normal FAP
dark pink = gig
yellow = club
mauve = birthday
light blue = meal/food-related
red = party
grey = other

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Version 2.0 needs:

Colour coding there to be seen.

Ability to convert to vcal / ical format to subscribe to and thence onto my phone

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

you use the internet on a PC often enough to render phone compatibility kind of pointless surely

what's wrong with the colour coding?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll tell you what it needs - EMOTICONS. image tags may actually be possible...

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

He wants to put it onto his phone BECAUSE HE CAN! Surely you understand pointless techno-fetishism?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i can't believe i am more of a rockist than Boyler!

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not a rockist! I'm not! Well, a bit. But not much.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 26 March 2004 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

it does not need emoticons, it need to be simple and clean like ilx, innit.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 26 March 2004 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

cheers steve c, cheers steve m. great idea.

now what it needs is a nice big link to it as part of the ilx header or footer bar. and better location details in the entries 8)

andy

koogs (koogs), Friday, 26 March 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ilx needs emoticons

(*runs from released hounds*)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

nyc -- FAC (fancy a coffee) for japanese opening day games?

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 26 March 2004 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

If I'd been colour coding, I'd do it by location, I think - one colour for London, one for NYC, etc. Nonetheless, great stuff and we do need a front page link.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
So, er, how do I add an event to Stevem's diary thingum?

Not sure it warrants its own thread, but I'm having a house party (well, my flatmates and I are having a house party) on 1st May - this Saturday, folks - at my house in Bethnal Green, all welcome.

As seems to be de rigeur right now, it's a "bring five records, pick a raffle ticket and you'll probably get to play three of them when your number comes up" type affair.

Mail offlist for directions etc - dead easy, 4 mins walk from BG tube.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 26 April 2004 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you got a big house, Charlie? You might get 30 ILXers coming.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 26 April 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you got a big house, Charlie? You might get 30 ILXers coming.

It's a three-story victorian terraced townhouse - pretty much opposite this pub:

http://www.artnet.com/Magazine/reviews/robinson/Images/robinson5-12-20.jpg

There are bloody tons of people coming already, the more the merrier sez I. We take no responsibility whatsoever for lost/broken/nicked music however, so maybe burn two CDs with the same five tracks on each for ease of mixing so there's less to lose.

So anyway...how do I get this onto the diary thing? I invoke Mannion!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I could go along to this. Oi Charlie did you get my email in the end or is it all gefakt?!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 08:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Gawd Charlie this is the same day as the tennis/sitting in Highbury Fields drinking in the sun marathon = any ILE people arriving will be fullon inxtoxiweb mentalists.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i think this sounds fun. i'll go.

also, the calendar thing is fantastic. but it's hard to find this thread sometimes...could it be a link somewhere more obvious?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

And the ones who have played tennis will quite probably smell.

Rotten.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

That's okay, less competition for all us foxy young things who will only be stinking of bouze.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

The Diary really needs a link from the front page, btw.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

louisville on the 18th

anthony, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

The links on it go to separate threads: perhaps if you're hosting something, you should make a specific thread for the event. This is also a good idea anyways as A) more people will see it and B) it will piss off the Americans.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

is there a separate thread yet? that way we can all figure out what we're bringing

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

and, in a related question, should i have a birthday FAP in late may?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

That depends.

When's your birthday?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

25th.

is there something big conflicting with that? (other than my boss getting married?)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

No I just thought it might be bad to have a birthday FAP in late May if your birthday was in, say, February.

The answer to the question "should I have a FAP?" is always yes. I can say this in all confidence, knowing that Barry "The Hatchet" Cassandra is far, far away.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Crumbs, so a new thread for my little soiree then, comin' right up.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

There's something fairly big going on the weekend immediately before that although I doubt that means we can't FAP. But then the weekend after is also fine with me. As for that matter is the Tuesday.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd personally prefer that weekend.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

haha:

Gawd Charlie this is the same day as the tennis/sitting in Highbury Fields drinking in the sun marathon = any ILE people arriving will be fullon inxtoxiweb mentalists.
-- Matt DC

i think this sounds fun. i'll go.
-- colette

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim H is droll, on this thread.

the beebfox, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

e-mail me if you want 'calendar privileges' - am happy to give them to whoever can be bothered to add stuff to it, esp. when i am away and can't access a computer (erm...)
