The Streets, Tortoise, Richie Hawtin, Martini Bros, Superpitcher, T.
Raumschmiere and more, all next to a bunch of bloody great old machine
type things

10 Days Off, 16-26 July - Ghent, Belgium

Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Green Velvet, Richie Hawtin,
Martini Bros, Ricardo Villalobos, label showcases for Kompakt, Playhouse, Poker Flat, spread out over ten days in... uhh... Belgium

Does 10 Days Off occur as part of the Ghent festival? I've been that before and its fucking rocking - I've been considering going along this summer and that lineup would totally swing it for me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to roskilde (http://www.roskilde-festival.dk/index.php?code=1 )

anyone else going?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Jay Kid (Jay K), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:27 (twenty-one years ago)

all that and a bed and en suite bathroom...i'm a happy girl!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

weekend after Glasto->signs point to no.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

The Roskilde line-up is AMAZING! I'll be trying to get a party togethor.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Roskilde also has Bowie, Fiery Furnaces, LFO, Pluramon and, erm, Muse.

Also something called Jaipur Kawa Brass Band, apparently featuring "sparkling winds, a gypsy dancer, a fakir and a magician". If they don't play Glasto I want my money back.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

That Roskilde site makes everything sound SO FUCKING DULL - "reputation as one of the world's most progressive DJ groups", "tasteful garage rock", "guitar driven rock"... WTF?!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

it's scandanavian, matt, what do you expect?

i know that it's a bit mental that it's the weekend after glasto, i had my room in the hostel booked since this time last year, though. so i'd decided on that one first. and i decided 'if i manage to get a ticket, i'll go to glasto, but i'm not going to try very hard'

but, of course, due to the magic that is matt dc, i managed without much effort at all. so i'm thinking that i'll come back from glastonbury, sleep and bathe and then head to copenhagen for a few days before going to roskilde for the weekend. woo!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Oxegen (nee Wittnness) isn't looking too shabby this year.

Ash, Basement Jaxx, Black Eyed Peas, Cartoon, Chemical Brothers, Complete Stone Roses, Darren Emerson, David Bowie, The Delays, Elbow, Electric Six, Erin McKeown, Faithless, Felix Da Housecat, Franz Ferdinand, Future Kings Of Spain, Goldie Looking Chain, HAL, Keane, Kings Of Leon, Massive Attack, Muse, N.E.R.D., Ocean Colour Scene, Orbital, Paddy Casey, Pink, PJ Harvey, Ricky Warwick, Scissor Sisters, Snow Patrol, The Beta Band, The Cure, The Darkness, The Delays, The Divine Comedy, The Killers, The Libertines, The Rapture, The Shins, The Strokes, Tim Deluxe, Wilco, Wu-Tang Clan.

They have some sort of rule that every good band added to the bill has to be matched by a pack of munters.

Plus, you get to live in a field! Or in my house, if you're me!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The Roskilde website promises "Funny and thought-provoking experiences" beside a shot of people in a conga line.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The Cure, The Darkness, The Delays, The Divine Comedy, The Killers, The Libertines, The Rapture, The Shins, The Strokes

They put all the Definite Article bands together on the bill!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

haha one more thing to blame The Cure for!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Felix is doing T In The Park as well (which looks like Roskilde with half the hassle, basically). Come on Felix, do Glasto, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Beach Related Mentalism

I'm really coming round to the idea of going to this.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Oxegen also has a rule that it has to be badly organised and full of muck throwing losers on their annual music trip.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 10 May 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, so the same ten bands are playing every festival in Europe, right?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

It certainly doesn't have to be. But it was one year, and that's what people remember. Cf: twats going on about how it always rains at Glastonbury.

xpost.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

It DOES always rain at Glastonbury though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Twat.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Oxegen is lame Andrew, no matter who's playing it is lame. I will go if I can get in for free, I'm not giving any of my money to MCD, as far as this is possible.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 10 May 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Look gormless. She has no gorm.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 10 May 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Dizzee is certainly playing a lot of festivals isn't he? Please do Glasto, please do Glasto, please do Glasto (repeat ad infinatum)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

*crosses fingers*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

dizzee cancelled on Friday here. I have now been disappointed by him twice. I sometimes regret all the times I defended him on ILM.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 10 May 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i'm doing oxegen, t in the park, and benicassim. was the trinity ball good, ronan?

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

oh it was great! your friends were probably best!

I got home at 5.30 on Saturday afternoon and slept till 12 yesterday. It was kind of insane, as ever. shame you couldn't have made it, I could have done with some slaps in the face to wake me up circa 4 or so. no idea how I actually got to my house!

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Dizzee is a flake, goddamnit. I flew to London last July to catch him with More Fire Crew at Fabric (OK i had other reasons for going but never mind I'm still pissed). Fuckers never showed up so I spent the night listening to Stanton Warriors, sitting behind the speakers and cussin.

And yes Matt DC, '10 Days Off' is part of the Ghent fest. I want to go for part of it, but it's smack in the middle of my SEE ALL OF WESTERN EUROPE IN ONE MONTH extravaganza, so I figure it's either see the Kompakt guys at Total Confusion in Cologne, or skip Cologne entirely and do this.

Dave M. (rotten03), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

BERG SANS NIPPLE
