LA FAP Saturday June 12 -- who is in?

Right -- Vahid, Jsoulja and I are planning on being at the Streets/Dizzee show this Saturday. Regardless of whether you're attending or not -- I know Spencer is skipping it -- would y'all like to meet up pre-show for a FAP/maybe dinner as well? Right now our collective plan was to hit Amoeba beforehand, then FAP, then the show, so somewhere between Amoeba and the Wiltern would be the best gathering spot. Elvis Telecom has said he could be persuaded, and could bring along a special guest who'll be in town!

What time is this show?

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

9 pm. $24 at the box office, which is cheaper than had been feared!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I was mainly skipping it because I've seen them both already, but if I could get floor tickets at that price I might be down...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

*checks* Here's the Ticketmaster link, and yep, general admission floor tickets at $24 still available.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I might be interested in dinner, as I'll be in that area for a friend's gallery opening.

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool deal.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i think we were planning on seeing the stepford wives that night but we could certainly stop in for the drinking/amoebaing portion!

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds like a plan! :-) Also, I figure not too many have met Vahid yet -- I think who have did back in November at Voigt/Mayer -- but he's a swell guy and a half, so do show up!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be working right downtown until about 6pm. I was gonna stay an extra day, but I blew all my money this last weekend (!), so I will just be getting the latest flight back that evening. I will be there for friday night (when work is paying), but I probably won't get in until 7 or 8. I would love to make this, but it looks kinda difficult. I'll check the flights anyway.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Rah! Especially since it sounds like you won't be too far off -- swing by for a quick drink even!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha! Okay, I just found out that they might not need me in LA. But maybe they will. I'm still really enjoying this job, but stuff like this drives me nuts. Anyway, count me out for the time being. :(

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

ill be in s.f. doods.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ill be in ATASCADERO :( :( :( :(

chaki_burger (chaki), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 07:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, you and your musicianly ways.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be in Groton, CT, darn. I'm in NYC right now. Hi, Mary! I'm around the corner, I'll call you later today. I'm in and out of town (NYC, that is) for the next 3 weeks.

So, did anyone go to the free Scissor Sisters show at Spaceland last night? Does anybody in LA care?

Arthur (Arthur), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

There was talk about it on an ILM thread, I think Spencer and Thea were going.

HAMBURGER NEURON GROUP (ex machina), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Semirevive. Any further concrete thoughts on when/where on Saturday, folks?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 June 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Have fun -- I wish I could meet you all; I'll be in Las Vegas for the weekend. But can I recommend El Cholo as the spot to meet before the show? On Western, just a little further down around 11th... best Mexican food in L.A... great Margaritas...
anyways, have a blast...

Neb Reyob (Ben Boyer), Friday, 11 June 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I think we were thinking about this place recently -- and it might not be a bad idea! What do others think?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 June 2004 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

All right, time to be a bit arbitrary -- El Cholo on Western at 6 pm or so? It's a few blocks south of the Wiltern and seems like it could work just fine.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

(At this point I know Elvis T., JBR, myself, Vahid and Jsoulja are in -- anyone else, speak up!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

el cholo is definitely the best mexican restaurant in koreatown.

there are some other great places down towards rampart.

if they have they still have the tamale trios, order them for me!

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

We will honor your request. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

it looks like these days they only have the green corn one, but it's really good:

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Rampart where The Shield is set? I am sad I cannot make this. :(

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

How dare you not get work assignments that fit specifically with our schedule!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I tried, believe me.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

tres tacos al carbon, get ready. here comes vahid.

vahid (vahid), Saturday, 12 June 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Rockness. The 6 pm time is as noted arbitrary -- maybe 7 would be better, to allow for other plans beforehand, Amoeba or otherwise? I just figure a couple of hours for drinks and chat followed by going to the Wiltern directly would be easier for us -- anyway, Vahid, check your e-mail and give me a call!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 12 June 2004 01:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Arthur! I'm so bummed I missed you, but you will be back, after traipsing around Venezuala, right? Hope to see you soon.

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 12 June 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Argentina, I thought Arthur was going to -- but maybe he's going elsewhere!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 12 June 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

el cholo is definitely the best mexican restaurant in koreatown.

But you would be incorrect because Guelaguetza is the best Mexican (Oaxacan specifically) restaurant in Koreatown. This is an objective and provable fact.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Saturday, 12 June 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Will you all pay a pilgrimage to a certain house in Hollywood Hills for me?

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 12 June 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

We can nod in its general direction at least.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 12 June 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, reservation made for 7 pm at El Cholo tonight in my name. Rock etc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 12 June 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry I missed this everyone! I was very busy this weekend with some projects. As usual, I'll be at the next FAP!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 14 June 2004 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

the best mexican restaurant in koreatown.

as i noted at the fap, "the best mexican restaurant in koreatown" is a mountain goats song waiting to be written.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Hail salsa.
