Hi Luna, welcome back! You might consider starting a new thread, this one's getting a bit unwieldy.

-- Tuomas (tuomas.alh...) (webmail), July 25th, 2004. (later)

Obv. I ain't lady Luna. However Chick Extrordinaire deserves to put her feet up.

Ready, set.....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Sunday, 25 July 2004 17:47 (twenty years ago)

I've been having one of those sundays where you sit inside, meet no one and do nothing, just watch the telly (or post to ILE). This week I've been hanging out with friends and boozing up every night from Tuesday to Saturday, so a change of pace is nice.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 25 July 2004 17:54 (twenty years ago)

Detox is always a worthy idea.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Sunday, 25 July 2004 17:59 (twenty years ago)

For the second day in a row I'm going to spend 8 hours in a library watching the desk by myself with little to do. This should be evident on the Statscock.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:00 (twenty years ago)

You work Sundays? Thought that was the one day librarians could put their feet up and tell the students to bugger off til Monday.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:03 (twenty years ago)

librarians can do that all weekend. not library staff, however.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:09 (twenty years ago)

Seniority again rears its ugly head

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:10 (twenty years ago)

Just make sure you get hired for the right weekday job (I had to work Sundays for a few months at the start and I swiftly tired of that).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:18 (twenty years ago)

I'm actually up for a full-time position at the main library (which will have me working from 3-midnight on most weekdays). I don't mind working Sundays at all. I'd hate to work M-F 9-5.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:24 (twenty years ago)

I like yer basic 9-5 -- actually for me 7-4, plus a lunch hour -- because it leaves my evenings free, I'm usually home by 4:30 pm, and I know I don't take my work home with me -- that said, I fully sympathize with your wanting to work afternoon/evening hours, which I also did at the start, and which many of my coworkers who do work those times do so because it's convenient for them as well. You have to have a pretty good tolerance for it, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:27 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it helps that I'm used to it (did evening hours during college too). I'm a nite owl, I like getting up leisurely and having some time to write and dawdle before going to work. I still get off early enough to hang out with friends at a bar if the mood strikes.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:31 (twenty years ago)

9-4.45, and 4.30 on Friday. It's okay. How is everyone? I'm okay, feel a little strange this evening, I'll explain another time.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 25 July 2004 18:39 (twenty years ago)

Anthony & Ned, what do librarians do on Sundays? Arrange books? Order new ones?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:00 (twenty years ago)

Library assistants, not librarians, my friend. ;-) As the buildings are generally open to the public, assistants are needed to handle things like checking books out and the like.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:02 (twenty years ago)

some libraries are open on sundays. not everything shuts down that day.b

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:03 (twenty years ago)

yeah I don't think grad students would appreciate us taking a day off.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:09 (twenty years ago)

Is this an official thread? Not started by Luna, not numbered...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:35 (twenty years ago)

quick! somebody get a notary public!

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:42 (twenty years ago)

I'm a little intimidated by the thread title; I feel I've got to measure my postings with a little intellectual merit.

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:45 (twenty years ago)

Hi. I'm still in L.A.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 25 July 2004 20:24 (twenty years ago)

I spent the entire day at the Met. Satiated lady right here. (Oh and you're hot, Luna. Uh, I mean, welcome back, Luna!)

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Sunday, 25 July 2004 21:01 (twenty years ago)

So wait a minute. Anthony and Ned vote pro-choice and are against gun-contol laws?

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 26 July 2004 00:55 (twenty years ago)

I believe in the right to die, yes

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 26 July 2004 00:57 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I just read the thread slower. Librarians....

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 26 July 2004 01:04 (twenty years ago)

So whats gonna happen to the LJ tittwas? It will wither and fade.. *sniff*

(Someone probably said this already. I am slow).

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 July 2004 01:11 (twenty years ago)

MTV2 is showing beavis & butthead at 1am on sundays! hooray!

however, due to my editor bitching at me over deadlines, i wound up not doing any overtime tonight, and writing two reviews and a column instead. feh. oh well.

Kingfish von Bandersnatch (Kingfish), Monday, 26 July 2004 04:51 (twenty years ago)

So whats gonna happen to the LJ tittwas? It will wither and fade.. *sniff*

I was wondering about the same... Maybe we could try to keep it alive. I liked the format, it made me put up longer and more contemplative posts.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 26 July 2004 07:28 (twenty years ago)

Hi guys!
Good to see you are back Luna, how was the trip?
Glad things are getting better for you Sam.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 07:32 (twenty years ago)

I saw Bryan on ILE today, I hope he posts here! Hey Bryan, how are you? *big hugs*

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:41 (twenty years ago)

Hi PinXor. I hug you back. I'm generally ok though I really wish I was asleep (it's 5:45 AM CST). I'm very glad to know what you look like now. Don't ask me why but I find it comforting.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:45 (twenty years ago)

Haha, comforting in what way dude? (those are certainly not the best pics of me!!) Oh & why the hell are you still up?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:52 (twenty years ago)

oh thank goodness. getting into a tittwis thread before it's so long that it scares me. sometimes these threads feel like long emails from old friends. it's so nice to read, and then i don't post anything, and then it just gets longer and longer, and i feel bad, and then just end up avoiding it.

oh that sounds so pathetic.

hello everyone, in any case. it was so nice to see pink and james this weekend! and the cambridge folk were very nice, and i ran into a guy that lived in east quad at uni with me. weird!

i have a million things i should be doing, but i can't be bothered. sigh.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:52 (twenty years ago)

Hi Colette! wish you could have stuck around on Sat, punting was fun, in the end!!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:54 (twenty years ago)

Comforting in the way you feel when they get a character in a movie based on a character from a book right, and yet you don't look at all like I thought you would. No matter! I'm up because I slept all yesterday afternoon. It's already very light out so getting to sleep is going to be that much more difficult.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:58 (twenty years ago)

Like I said, not the best pick of me, but you get an idea! ;-)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 10:12 (twenty years ago)

Yay pix of Pink! Baby making is not happening right now as she is at her female time.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 26 July 2004 10:51 (twenty years ago)

Good morning all, and how's the DNC messing things up where you are, Chris?

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Monday, 26 July 2004 10:53 (twenty years ago)

*bows* Aww that suxor!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 10:54 (twenty years ago)

No problems in Worcester. As for my wife I'll find out when she gets to work. She works in Newton. Im sure traffic will be hell.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:01 (twenty years ago)

Good morning everyone! Welcome to TITTWIS-land, Jeremy and Colette! It seems as though once you start posting here, you never quite stop.

Pink, it's cool to get a face to associate with the posts! Looks like you guys had a great time. That's more than excellent.

It's good that we seem to be slowly coalescing into one decent-sized whole again, with pretty much every single one of us sorta coming back into the fold. Welcome back, everyone.

Okay, I need to go for now. Have to finish getting ready and then get my you-know-what out the door! Have an excellent day, you guys!

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:02 (twenty years ago)

(Oh oh oh, and good luck with the DNC madness, Chris V!)

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:02 (twenty years ago)

DNC madness really doesn't effect me all that much as I live 30 miles outside of Boston anyways. I don't have to go anywhere near the city, this week. Although my wife does and so do a couple of friends.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:04 (twenty years ago)

It's a madhouse this morning... I left for work 20 minutes early and arrived 10 late. And I live 4 miles away!

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:10 (twenty years ago)

What's the DNC madness?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:11 (twenty years ago)

Democratic National Convention

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:13 (twenty years ago)

My friend works on State Street and he's coming from Haverhill, he's up shits creek all week.

Ah i see!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:14 (twenty years ago)

Um, can I get the Cambridge traffic new too please? ;-)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:17 (twenty years ago)

you know, the thing i like least about mondays is that i get to spend all morning playing on ILX and then have to spend the afternoon in the office where i can't really do that. the contrast makes it worse than the days where i spend all day at office 2.

see you all tomorrow!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 11:19 (twenty years ago)

At this point I'm just staying on the line as a kind of morbid curiosity as to how long she'll talk without a response. She's still talking.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 14:53 (twenty years ago)

Kingfish, I don't suppose you have a PA to sell to go with those speakers?

Nick, that should be good practice for the day when you have to talk to my mom on the phone.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 13 August 2004 15:03 (twenty years ago)

NA, emailed.

sarah, i have a bass head that could work in a pinch.

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Friday, 13 August 2004 15:03 (twenty years ago)

I just took a call from an irate reader wondering why the paper didn't list what time the Olympic opening ceremonies are on TV.
"What's wrong with your paper? The Olympics are the biggest story in four years! This should be on the front page!"
Well, it's not the biggest story of the last four years, and it is on the front page. And the TV listings are in the TV Listings Insert in today's flippin' paper you piece of shit!
"Well thanks for nothing!"
Nothing? I fucking answered your fucking questions! It's not even my job to answer your questions! Fuck you. I know where you live. We have call display, and I can make a trip over to the Circulation dept and arrange for a 12-year-old to be at your door with a flaming bag of poop before 7 tomorrow morning.
DO NOT FUCK WITH ME.

Huck, Friday, 13 August 2004 15:05 (twenty years ago)

Kingfish, you didn't quote me a price. And how would we be able to get them from you? Eh.

I finally got off the phone with that lady by lying and saying I had to get the other line. What a nut.

na (Nick A.), Friday, 13 August 2004 15:06 (twenty years ago)

Nick, you got the same email I did, right? I guess maybe it was after you posted that.

We have a Marshall guitar amp head we're going to try out as a PA.

I want that new space. I'm in love with it.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:20 (twenty years ago)

Ass and booze?

Huck, Friday, 13 August 2004 17:48 (twenty years ago)

Booty shaking and fruity drinks. I promised Sarah.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:48 (twenty years ago)

mmmm shiny ass

oh, and yes, fruity drinks.

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Friday, 13 August 2004 17:51 (twenty years ago)

Fruity asses and shakey drinks for me please!

Er...

Huck, Friday, 13 August 2004 18:00 (twenty years ago)

Awesome. Thanks, luna.

Can I get some fries?
With that shake shake booty
If looks could kill you would be an uzi

I want Mexican food now.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 13 August 2004 19:09 (twenty years ago)

Yay! Many congrats to you, Chris P!! :)

Archel, I trust you know that the screams you hear are the ones coming from 3,000-plus miles. I'd thought I'd seen a news item on a DD news page alluding to this but alas, it was late at night and I was bleary-eyed. But OH MY GOD, THE PICTURES ARE ONLINE! I guess you know what I'll be staring at the rest of the evening....

(Thank you ever so. Oh thank you thank you thank you.)

Huck, the way you handled that call was AWESOME.

And I could do with some unplugging. Esp after the horribly dark week I had. Anyone wanting more specs can just go to my little journal thingy.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 14 August 2004 02:06 (twenty years ago)

okay, time for you all to peruse my moving sale thing...

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:14 (twenty years ago)

After being on vacation for a week, I can NOT deal with having to return to my fabric-walled cubicle tomorrow morning. Seriously, I could start to cry just thinking about it.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:24 (twenty years ago)

i was in the similar position on thursday.

fortunately, i had the luxury of knowing that i will be quitting in about two weeks.

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:29 (twenty years ago)

I have a roommate! A little brown roommate who's been eating my toilet paper!
My bathroom is now a lair of death, and I await much gruesomeness and liberal-upbringing-inspired gnashing of teeth.
My place is clean though, and I don't have a lot of food or anything around, so I don't know why the mouse wouldn't just stay in the basement where the stoners are. They probably even have Doritos.
Fucking hell. I'll probably move again.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 03:02 (twenty years ago)

you live with poop?

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 16 August 2004 03:02 (twenty years ago)

At least you didn't make some sort of ethnic joke, which I realize in hindsight, I may have set up.
Where's all you twee kitties now that I need them?

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 04:03 (twenty years ago)

oh Huck, please don't buy into the hstencil-is-a-racist myth.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 16 August 2004 04:04 (twenty years ago)

I wasn't buying into anything (though you are from Kentucky) (I kid), just pointing out that if someone, ANYone, had wanted to...

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 04:15 (twenty years ago)

I'd lend you my cat, but I'm not actually sure that she's a mouser.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:38 (twenty years ago)

Huck, did you send the poo to the caomplainer? Please say you did.

I feel I should report in, though I don't have much to say. I miss my gf (who doesn't have a computer at her mum's place in the Berkshires) though I'm discovering, oddly enough, that I gtet more done around the house when she's not there. Presumably I get distracted by her cuteness :)

Work isn't bad at the moment - I seem to be getting a few responsible things to do, which I need at this stage in my career. So I'm fairly happy right now, which is about as un-newsworthy as it gets. But hello y'all!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 16 August 2004 11:22 (twenty years ago)

Hi Mark!

I really enjoy doing housework and general pottering when Matt's not there, but not when he is... I don't know why except maybe a) it feels like I might be squandering quality couple time and b) I get a niggle of resentment that I'm doing chores while he's not (which is absurd as he does at least as much around the house as I do).

Urrgh, must get back to work as have many DVDs to catalogue and label and write exciting blurbs for...

Hope you're all well this fine (?) Monday.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 16 August 2004 11:40 (twenty years ago)

Well, I'm off to work! Work, of all things!

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:53 (twenty years ago)

Woo. Don't overdo it Chris!

Archel (Archel), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:55 (twenty years ago)

I have heard of this 'work'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:55 (twenty years ago)

I know what you mean, Archel. Though last night, I compromised by only washing my laundry. So I was doing chores, but they only really helped me (um, except for all those damn towels I washed - grrr! j/k) so I didn't feel any resentment.

I'm listening to the Shins (Chutes..). I'm still in denial that it's Monday morning and I'm at work.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:59 (twenty years ago)

OH, I'm SOOO sorry I didn't help you do chores yesterday, Sarah, after loading two carloads of band equipment and then carrying the heaviest things up FOUR FLIGHTS OF STAIRS to our fucking awesome new practice space and then practicing for two hours. LA DI DA.

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:04 (twenty years ago)

I moved stuff too, you big dumbo. I'm gonna punch you in the esophagus later.

Love, me

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:06 (twenty years ago)

Who's Afraid of Guitar Wolf?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:11 (twenty years ago)

Of course I did, Markelby. You don't think I'm just some Walter Mitty/John Hinckley type who merely daydreams of enacting elaborate revenge fantasies, do you?

In other news, I drew first blood in the war on mice. I've never killed a vertebrate before, and in this part of the world, that makes you a sissy. So I'm not a sissy anymore. I'm a stone-cold, hard-ass killer.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 13:19 (twenty years ago)

ANyways, this was a pretty awesome weekend, what with my sister visiting, the CHICAGO SURPRISE TEENYFAP on Friday with lots of beer and hanging out on a rooftop right next to the El track, seeing a band whose members wore W. Bush, Rumsfield, Cheney, Powell, and Rice masks and whose lyrics were made up of Dubya speeches, eating at Chipotle (my fast-food guilty pleasure) on Saturday, going to see Tyrades, the Ponys, and Erase Errata at the Empty Bottle, and the abovementioned practice space nonsense. Now my body feels like I was pounded with one of those meat tenderizing hammers for a couple of hours.

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:20 (twenty years ago)

hello everyone, did you all have a nice weekend? sounds like you chicago folks had a great time! mine was kind of exhausting, full of unnecessary drama. but dancing and lots of good food and dressing up and swimming on tv are all good things.

2xpost

colette (a2lette), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:21 (twenty years ago)

I'd lend you my cat, but I'm not actually sure that she's a mouser.

Cas' cat, for reference. Good with maps. Scared of the basement.

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:34 (twenty years ago)

In non-rodenticidal news, I saw loads of really good music this weekend. Incl, probably my favourite live band, the Sadies. Maybe I need to see more live bands.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 13:39 (twenty years ago)

Hey, colette. Dancing sounds fun. What kind of dancing? Club dancing?

Nick, being pounded with a meat tenderizer sounds nice. I bet that's something on the menu at those fancy shmancy spas. I'm sore too, but I still made myself walk from the el station to work this morning. I'm hardcore!

Huck, I'm curious as to how you went about killing this mouse, but at the same time I really don't want to know. I guess that would be a morbid curiousity, huh? If a mouse got in our house, I'd probably scream a lot and call the landlord, but then I'd just learn to live with it.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:40 (twenty years ago)

Sarah, you don't want to know. Suffice it to say that so-called humane traps aren't at all.

I did call the landlord, and he brought over a bunch of "humane" traps on his way out of town on holidays. I know that mice are small and don't need big holes, but there are still big fat fuckin' holes in my floors from where he took out the radiators and put in electric baseboard heaters last fall. So it's his fault. Cuz he's a cunt.
Seriously, it takes him like 3 months to do any repairs, and then he blames his handyman, and then his own house gets written up in the newspapers Homes Section, and I'm like, "Hey bitch, my rent paid for those renovations. I can have a 12-year-old with a flaming bag of poo at your front doorstep by dawn!" (my new answer to everything) (plus I sorta hung out with the head of circ this weekend, so maybe my fantasies will come true)

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 13:48 (twenty years ago)

Do you have an army of 12-year-olds at your disposal, Huck, or just one who does a lot of runnin'?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:52 (twenty years ago)

I work for a newspaper, but not in the delivery/circulation dept, but I could just go over there and ask them to do me a favour. I never really thought about it until last week, but like, fuck, those guys over there could probably stage a pretty awesome coup, just within the city, but who would suspect?

Ooooh, I think I have the premise for my Great Canadian Novel.
Or a Jack Kirby comic.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 13:57 (twenty years ago)

sarah, there was some cheezy dancing at a bar my friend had hired for her birthday (i remember singing along to 'livin on a prayer'), and then we went to a dirty generic indie club night thing. the music was pretty bad, actually. but still an ok weekend.

huck, i'm just imagining an army of kids shouting 'i want my two dollars!' riding their bmx bikes behind you everywhere you go...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:12 (twenty years ago)

I went swimming this weekend at the place I'm housesitting. It's got a high fence, and I was all by myself, so I thought 'hmm, ok...' and went sunbathing.

I GOT A SUNBURN ON MY BUTT.

I am going to hide under my bed forever.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:34 (twenty years ago)

Luna, we want pictures!

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 14:42 (twenty years ago)

Ouch, luna!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:43 (twenty years ago)

I will not make a "hot ass" joke.
I will not make a "hot ass" joke.
I will not make a "hot ass" joke.
I will not make a "hot ass" joke.
I will not make a "hot ass" joke.
I will not make a "hot ass" joke.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:47 (twenty years ago)

Luna has a hot ass!

xpost!

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 14:50 (twenty years ago)
