This Is the Thread Where I Say part 17: Intelligence Is The Best Revenge

luna (luna.c), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:54 (twenty years ago)

YAY! I was listening to "Punk Rock Girl" this morning and I realized that it's the BEST SONG EVER IN THE HISTORY OF EVER.

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:55 (twenty years ago)

EAT FUDGE BANANA SWIRL!

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 14:56 (twenty years ago)

Mm, when these threads start afresh it's like opening up a brand new diary or notepad full of virgin white paper. I always leave the first page blank though so maybe I shouldn't post until a scroll's worth of screen has been filled...

Archel (Archel), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:59 (twenty years ago)

WE'LL TRAVEL 'ROUND THE WORLD

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:59 (twenty years ago)

I saw the Punk Rock Girl from the video about a month or so ago. That was...weird.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:00 (twenty years ago)

Care to elaborate?

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 15:02 (twenty years ago)

the girl, who plays the Punk Rock Girl, I saw her at a Battles show. She sorta looked the same, sans mohawk.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:03 (twenty years ago)

Someone on this thread has a hot ass. Let's guess who.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:03 (twenty years ago)

I've only ever seen the PRG video on Beavis & Butthead. "Uhh...what IS this?"

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:07 (twenty years ago)

http://www.vel.delfa.net:8104/africa/images/gallery2/donkey.jpg
"Would it kill you to get me a drink of water?"

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 15:08 (twenty years ago)

It's Huck!

luna (luna.c), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:08 (twenty years ago)

Actually, I have a hard ass, having just scored my first verterbrate-on-vertebrate kill. I'm like, a mouse assassin. It's a job, don't take it personally.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 15:14 (twenty years ago)

I was listening to Big Lizard in My Backyard the other day. A perfect album, I think.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:15 (twenty years ago)

I downloaded Punk Rock Girl and Instant Club Hit this morning. I also want to find Bitchin' Camaro. Do they have a greatest hits album?

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:16 (twenty years ago)

rodney anonymous was in love with one of my friends. he would leave her messages all the time in his horrible nasal boston accent: "hi, [name withheld], it's raaaahdney. cahl me."

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:17 (twenty years ago)

heh. they also played a TMBG vid on VH1 Classic's Alternative show last night.

i really need to start taping it.

also, i just made another $41 bucks from selling film books! the sale continues!

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:18 (twenty years ago)

they were from Philly, not Boston!

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:19 (twenty years ago)

well, he was living in boston at the time and sure sounded like it.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:20 (twenty years ago)

Nick, What made you think of this thread title? That Elle magazine I was reading this weekend?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:20 (twenty years ago)

I've only ever seen the PRG video on Beavis & Butthead. "Uhh...what IS this?"

"A *real* punk rock girl would kick this guy's ass."

Harold Media (kenan), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:20 (twenty years ago)

Sarah! It's from "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen, which, as I said above, I was listening to this morning!

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:21 (twenty years ago)

I was in the Hamptons this past weekend. I did not see P. Diddy. I am disappointed.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:24 (twenty years ago)

You should ask for your money back.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Did Lizzie run over you with her SUV at least?

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:29 (twenty years ago)

Most importantly though, did you get a sunburn on your ass?

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 15:30 (twenty years ago)

http://members.aol.com/JacMan/puffmase.gif

No, she didn't run me over. I never left the house anyways. I thought maybe P. Didds would cruise by on his yacht or something with mad dancing bitches on the bow and some cristal.

And no, not on the ass but on my bacl.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:31 (twenty years ago)

back

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:32 (twenty years ago)

"Bacl" sounds like slang. Like schizzle my nizzle, but different. We should totally start saying it.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Okay.

God I hate children. Well, I don't, but the one who's been in our office all day today (who I complained about on the other thread) has been really making me Barry today. I gave her a simple job to do (on her request) and when I went back for it, she'd abandoned it on the floor and said "I gave up". Little fucking bitch (and I don't care if I should be more understanding, I need to vent at her selfish, self-obsessed, attention-seeking EVILTUDE. Aaaargh.

Thanks for listening. Peas out.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:57 (twenty years ago)

Just remembered that a good many of the paper delivery technicians are retirees. So maybe my insurrection will have to be over before 4 p.m., or whenever the Liver & Onions Blue Plate at Denny's starts.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 16:13 (twenty years ago)

(NA: "Death Rides a Pale Cow" is the comp yr looking for.)

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 16 August 2004 16:15 (twenty years ago)

I know the question was asked on the last thread, but:

I had the best weekend in months. One of my oldest and best friends gets married next month, and this was his stag weekend. Started Friday after work - the upstairs room of a pub, complete with pool tables, booked for the evening, which was great. Then all day Saturday at the best man's home, including playing a game of Triv with questions written by me to suit that kind of group - so that was really very difficult questions on art, literature, comics, music, movies and TV. Even with this bunch of people it took quite a long time to finish - it stayed very close. And we watched Match Of The Day, the classic football show back after the TV rights were with another channel for three years, which made me very happy. I saw some people I don't see nearly often enough and had a great time. I left on Saturday night, as I can't take too many risks, what with having missed so much work time that my job could be in danger, but I'd imagine they were all pretty tired on Sunday anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 16 August 2004 16:21 (twenty years ago)

I'm glad you had a good time, Martin. You deserve it.

Huck, Monday, 16 August 2004 16:27 (twenty years ago)

Rock on, Martin.

say, does anybody want some MST3K tapes?

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Monday, 16 August 2004 19:01 (twenty years ago)

So I made it to LA, and on the first day I was here the Lyndon LaRouche supporters on Larchmont took a dollar from the wallet sitting in front of me at the Farmer's Market and said that this was my 'expected contribution.' Later, I was walking up by Paramount and Desilu trying to get a feel for the neighborhood and some asshole in a Maserati pulled out of the lot and almost ran me down. I gave him the finger, and a little Mexican guy to my left told me that it was Bronson Pinchot. I dunno if I believe him.

Anyway, I've got a nice apartment, no fridge or bed, and jacksh!t to do until my car arrives via transport in a day or two. I'm at the Wilshire library, trying to find a cheap mattress (hard as crap!) and used fridge (harder!) and checking in to realize that I don't recognize a single thread around these parts. Nevertheless, I'm here and bored and will drop my phone number to anybody who's in the area and sends me an email.

This place is incredibly overwhelming.

x j e r e m y i n l a x (x Jeremy), Monday, 16 August 2004 19:54 (twenty years ago)

Did you check craigslist?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 16 August 2004 20:02 (twenty years ago)

Also, I just emailed you.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 16 August 2004 20:03 (twenty years ago)

Are they official tapes or just ones recorded off the tv?

Well, that job thing was fun.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 16 August 2004 20:06 (twenty years ago)

I went to LAKESIDE AMUSEMENT PARK this weekend

I got ROLLERCOASTER HAIR which is always good.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 16 August 2004 20:07 (twenty years ago)

thats when the rollercoaster photos come in handy.

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Monday, 16 August 2004 20:08 (twenty years ago)

Cas., isn't it like 2:45 where you are? What kind of job gets you home at 2:45, and are they hiring?

na (Nick A.), Monday, 16 August 2004 20:16 (twenty years ago)

A part-time job.

And, no.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 16 August 2004 22:51 (twenty years ago)

alright! juts spent the majority of the last 4.5 hours going thru my books to sell! and i'm not even finished!

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 04:15 (twenty years ago)

Does it matter at all that I don't WANT to dress like Minnie Pearl?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 04:18 (twenty years ago)

it might...

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 04:19 (twenty years ago)

To whom?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 04:21 (twenty years ago)

Minnie Pearl fetishists? they exist, you know

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 04:22 (twenty years ago)

There are some things I'd rather not contemplate.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 04:23 (twenty years ago)

Still, I love her. I'm making a big dinner for maw and paw on Sunday, as Saturday's their anniversary.
Also, talked my kid bro, who's in NYC (there's a thread) and he's coming home soon, so I'll have a friend in town! But he wants to move to Vancouver maybe. Where my lousy sister lives. He'll be sorry.

Huck, Friday, 3 September 2004 00:36 (twenty years ago)

Oh, well maybe I'll catch the beginning, then. But no, we don't go on until around 10:30 or so my time. And we weren't planning on playing that. Unless it gets requested.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 3 September 2004 00:54 (twenty years ago)

I have a shiny new gmail account. will i get some invites?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 07:10 (twenty years ago)

3 DAYS AND I'M STILL NOT DONE SHIPPING EVERYTHING

FUCK THIS I'M GUNNA BURN THIS PILE

I LEAVE IN LESS THAN 10 HOURS

HOPE TA GOD

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Friday, 3 September 2004 07:19 (twenty years ago)

Oh good luck Mr Kingfish dude!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 07:32 (twenty years ago)

Good luck moving KF!

I feel like crap this morning. I did the thing, the leaving the board thing, and it was ok. Decision validated though when someone said 'oh but you're so good at looking after the door'. Which is exactly why it's time to move on - is there any point being a company director when your main input is selling tickets to the middle classes? No, that is NOT where I see my future lying somehow.

Was woken up by Matt coming in about 1am. £220 had gone missing from his account, it showed up as being withdrawn last night but he only took out £10. He's going to see his bank this morning, and hopefully it's just their error, but it's possible his card might have been cloned :(

Rent due and we can't pay it :(

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 September 2004 07:59 (twenty years ago)

Aww archel that's awful. I can lend you some cash if you need it.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:01 (twenty years ago)

Sorry if that post offended you, I just meant that, well you know what i mean. I haven't got much, but if I can help you out, oh you know what i mean.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:02 (twenty years ago)

Aw, thank you Pink you're such a peach! I think we will be ok, we have a credit card with probably enough. It's just a bit scary.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:05 (twenty years ago)

Well like i said, i haven't got much, but i might be able to help you if you need it hon! Hope all works out for you! *hugs*

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:10 (twenty years ago)

Matt just phoned. The card *was* cloned - they withdrew another £130 this morning as soon as his pay went in. It's all cancelled now of course so at least we've found out sooner rather than later. And we will get the whole £350 back eventually. But it's a fucking horrible feeling, that someone can do that so easily.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:26 (twenty years ago)

OMG that's horrible! glad it's all sorted though. get thee to a pub to have a big glass of wine. or failing that, get yourself a big bar of chocolate.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:27 (twenty years ago)

Mmm chocolate. Good idea!

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:34 (twenty years ago)

I'm thinking I might have a housewarming party around halloween so we can have a spooky theme! what do you guys think?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:56 (twenty years ago)

omg! How weird! I just found a Milky Way in my pigeon hole! (No rude jokes please...)

Secret admirer? Psychic friend who knew I was thinking about chocolate? Amazing telekinesis by Pinxor from Cambridge?

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:56 (twenty years ago)

Ahem, well I thought you might appreciate it! ;-)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 08:59 (twenty years ago)

Well, the chocolate is still a mystery, 4 hours later. Everyone I work with denies all knowledge. And yet... it must be someone who knows my name.

Or, a case of mistaken hole...

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:24 (twenty years ago)

ahem!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:30 (twenty years ago)

Sorry about the card troubles, Archel.

For once in my life, I DON'T want chocolate right now. I feel sick. I thought about staying home, but I'm managing ok at my desk, eating a fresh tomato with salt and working vvveeeeerrrrrryyyyyy ssssllllooowwwwlllllyyyy.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:32 (twenty years ago)

"Hi boss, sorry I'm late this morning. I got caught up in a vendetta. I was taking the law into my own hands and I missed the bus. Won't happen again."

Huck, Friday, 3 September 2004 13:40 (twenty years ago)

Morning sunshine!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:52 (twenty years ago)

Hi Huck, can you vendett against the assholes who stole Matt's money please k thx bye.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:54 (twenty years ago)

Okay.
Now that I've taken out the non-profit org. in the office building next to my apt. who hired a tree removal for 7 a.m.! (which is when the noise bylaw lifts, and I was already up, but FUCK!)

Huck, Friday, 3 September 2004 13:57 (twenty years ago)

My back feels a little better than it has this morning, so I'm in a slightly better mood than I have been this week. Or something.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:56 (twenty years ago)

Meanwhile, good morning (afternoon/evening) all you lovely people...

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:57 (twenty years ago)

What about me?

Huck, Friday, 3 September 2004 14:58 (twenty years ago)

Hi. I get off work at 4 today for the long weekend, wa-hay. But Sarah is sick and we'll be sleeping on an air mattress all weekend because Sarah's dad is going to be staying with us. Oh well. Oh and Sarah's birthday is on Monday and I still have a hell of a lot of shopping to do and I don't know when I'm going to do it.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:59 (twenty years ago)

Oh. Yeah, um... hi Huck.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:00 (twenty years ago)

I'm in a stink-raisin' mood today.

Huck Mann, Bylaw Avenger, Friday, 3 September 2004 15:01 (twenty years ago)

Hi, everyone. Glad your back is a bit better, luna. I need a back massage. NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:09 (twenty years ago)

It may only be 9 am, but I could go for a burger right now.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:11 (twenty years ago)

WWWHHHAAAATTTTT???

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:12 (twenty years ago)

(awww, y'all are so cute)

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:13 (twenty years ago)

I don't so much want a hamburger, but I think I'll have some tea.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:20 (twenty years ago)

I am really fed up with people who constantly moan about the relationship they were just in. I know it hurts, I know your will to live has been sucked out through your earholes, I know that you're sad and you feel the world is ending; HOWEVER: we've all been there, it sucks, and it will hurt less as time passes. Can we please NOT GO INTO IT EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY PLEASE? K THX BYE.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Hey, I just made some tea!

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:26 (twenty years ago)

Best xpost ev-- well, best in a long while, anyways.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:28 (twenty years ago)

We had a really nice show last night. Now I don't feel like getting up and going to work. Bah.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:30 (twenty years ago)

Ok ok I give in, I'll make tea instead.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:30 (twenty years ago)

I might have a cheeseburger for lunch.

Huck, Friday, 3 September 2004 15:37 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go get a grilled cheese and french fries for lunch.

I think I'm getting Sarah's cold. My eyes are itchy and I keep sneezing. I thought I cut it off last night with a pre-emptive hot toddy, but apparently it didn't take.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:40 (twenty years ago)

T-minus 5 minutes to lunchtime! I've got my cryptic crossword ready to go!

Huck, Friday, 3 September 2004 15:53 (twenty years ago)

You are the original wild man, Huck.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:55 (twenty years ago)

Don't feel too bad, Archel, I can't pay my rent, either.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:56 (twenty years ago)

Did I mention that I do the cryptic NAKED, with a girls water polo team?

Huck, Friday, 3 September 2004 15:57 (twenty years ago)

We paid rent the other night and I just crossed my fingers that my direct deposit paycheck would come before they got around to cashing it. You know, the usual.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:58 (twenty years ago)

Well, since the rent came out of my account, and I still haven't deposited the check you wrote me for your half of the rent, I think you're probably in the clear.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:01 (twenty years ago)

Did I mention that I do the cryptic NAKED, with a girls water polo team?

In or out of the water?

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:11 (twenty years ago)

Sometimes people take things WAY TOO SERIOUSLY.

YOU MUST CHILL.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:38 (twenty years ago)
