Catty (Catty), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I am thinking that my next trainers might go back to classic Britpop style addidas by the way! Do you think this is classic or dud?

I'd probably wear a potato sack.

Sarah is singing the proclaimers, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

my early 90's versus late 90's was radically different, from acid tops and flared trousers to holey pants and Metal tshirts.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i was really hoping to find one of the images of them in the suits, but for some odd reason, there aren't many online. hrm.

Catty (Catty), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Ill-fitting jeans, DMs, a long sleeved Sepultura shirt with a short sleeved Sepultura shirt over the top, with optional padded lumberjack shirt if it gets cold.

Classy.

Wooden (Wooden), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Timex Indiglo! Myself in high school: frighteningly skinny in Corduroy skirt, Chuck Taylor high tops (with tights egads), baby doll t-shirt with Toy Story characters on it, hair in bunches, candy necklace revival. Glitter eye shadow. Revlon "vixen" nail polish (the poor girl's Chanel "Vamp")chain wallet. Dud.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yes the lumberjack shirt, forgot that part.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Urban Decay eyeliner.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I have recourse to the following '90s outfits:

Deee-lite tights, hotpants, clunky black shoes, hooded top with long sleeves, black Reni hat.

Black velvet catsuit, kinky boots.

Ski sweater, black wool A-line skirt, black tights, great big Doc boots. Plus black magic marker for writing things like STITCHES across scar and other Riot Grrrl guff on hands. Hairslides. Or swap tights/Docs for white cable tights and Mary Janes or brothel-creepers.

Long black A-line '70s skirt, crisp white dress shirt, angora sweater-vest, bunches.

Joseph hipsters, Patrick Cox loafers, 'Pulp' promo handbag, child's tee from H&M.

Combat trousers, Ben Sherman checked shirt, white M&S kids' teeshirt, Massey-Ferguson tractor jacket, commando shoes.

Black or pinstripe three-button slimline mod suit.

Cotton housewife dress over dark indigo jeans or combats, black Prada or similar slip-ons.

Sleeveless top, leather skirt, hot pink fishnets, heels.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

A cross between townie non-chic and struggling indie-grunge kid:

Black PVC bomber jacket with dayglo orange lining
Baggy jeans with a cartoon of someone smoking a spliff on the back pocket
Green Day T-shirt
Burgundy DMs with yellow laces

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Floppy hat w/ flower attached to bonce, obv

Sarahahrahr, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I would wear my favourite mufti day outfit - purple Naf Naf sweatshirt, black Adidas joggies, green suede Champion trainers with the tongues hanging out, gold CND earrings - and I would add a puffa jacket, because I never had one of them.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ENRQ (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm, that was 1990 Madchen. Insteady, maybe I should dig out my black A-line miniskirt, black Fred perry shirt and black shelltoes with white stripes and find a picture of Chr1s G3ntry to keep in my purse.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

1990 - my black spandex 29 inch waist jeans, 10 hole black DMs with gold spraycan effect, black/purple tie-dye shirt or white long-sleeved Inspirals t-shirt, black biker jacket.

1991-95 - the same DMs, black or blue 501s, band t-shirt (selected from, among others, Suede, Madder Rose, Silverfish, Stereolab, Senseless Things, The Damned), chunky yet indie sweater optional for winter.

Later than that counts as the Modern Epoch, so it doesn't count.
