when all is said and done, we will know for sure which sport has the more powerful names. It may not seem so now, but when this task is complete, those who have taken part in it will feel euphoria, followed bu a three day glow of accomplishment
And yes i am aware that the spelling is all wrong.

My team Bristol Rovers' top scorer so far this season is named Junior Agogo.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:11 (twenty years ago)

Chesterfield offloaded him about three seasons ago, he scored three goals in first five games and then disappeared (well, went off to Barnet, same thing I suppose) we got him off Sheff Weds iirc

two of my all time favorites from the college ranks in the '80's:

basketball, houston baptist (they've dropped hoops now)- annoset lavodrama

football, michigan state- napoleon outlaw

Ah, yes, Napoleon Outlaw. The great state of Tennessee has given us two more great collegians:

Basketball -- Baskerville Holmes, guard, Memphis State;

Football -- Donte Pimpleton, quarterback, Tennessee State.

Both had game to go with the name, too. Holmes was a straight-up shooter, unafraid to knock one in off the glass from anywhere on the court. Pimpleton was a run-n-shoot scrambler in the mold of Vick. I don't think either of them made it to the big leagues.

two sets of basketball playing brothers- majestic mapp and his brother scientific mapp. xree (pronounced x-ray) hipp and his brother i.m. hipp.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:45 (twenty years ago)

excuse me, upon further investigation i.m. hipp was not xree's brother (i thought it was weird i'd never heard of him having a brother with a much cooler name) and he didn't play basketball. he played in the nfl in the '50's.
