More boring news for Londoners (FAP Friday 19th November - Pineapple, Kentish Town)

Since I haven't been to London in ages and I have holiday to use up, I think I may well come down for a little visit on the weekend of the 19th/20th/21st November.

So, you know, just let me know if anything is going and n shit innit.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Judging by the thread title I thought this was going to be about the congestion charge or something.

Wooden (Wooden), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally FAP! I have holidays to use up, maybe I'll go too so you have someone to FAP with, even if it is someone that can never even be arsed to go into Glasgow to have a pint with you.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it was going to be about bendy buses or the tube...

I'm the worst FAPper ever, but I'm sure things'll get arranged!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I make this more exciting, somehow?

I WILL BRING PRESENTS FOR EVERYONE!!!*

* Presents not guaranteed.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

(please excuse my abysmal sentence construction up there, by the way. Ally C, can I derail your thread to ask if you are going to the pub tonight?)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

You will have to find a pub to watch the Old Firm game in that weekend.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

will be very ice to see you again allycook

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

The John Bock show at the ICA is doubleplusgood if you like crawling around hay lofts and along high plywood corridors. (And art.)

Momus (Momus), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Almost my favourite pastime.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it a pre-birthday celebration Ally?

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, it KINDA IS!

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm, I probably SHOULD have titled this differently. Oh well.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 7 October 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't worry Ally. What'll happen is: nearer the time, approximately 40 other FAPs interspersed with visits to modern-style "clubs" will be organised, and the resultant migraine-inducing confusion will be sufficient to ensure that everyone turns up to all of them for fear they miss something out. Thus ensuring a convivial and cosmopolitan social aura!!

I will come if you promise to let me have a River City plot update.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 7 October 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

He's right, y'know.

I'm pretty sure I can come to this. Tuesday or Wednesday would be preferable to the Thursday from my point of view as I have to go to France the next day and would rather not be knackered and hungover.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 October 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello OTM. It makes me think that we could have been freidns if it wasn't for all the... unpleasantness.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 7 October 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

you don't HAVE to get hungover y'know Matt...

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Thursday, 7 October 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes but I WANT to.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 October 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I will make one of my 'special efforts' to meet Ally C, early doors. I would like to see his legendary football skills. Is this the weekend Exeter play Burton?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 7 October 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I fully expect to, somehow, contrive to never meet Peter. It's been too long, now. If I do, I expect there to be fanfares of some kind.

Oh, and Matt - uh, what are you talking about?

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 7 October 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I am talking NONSENSE is what I am talking. I looked at my calendar and somehow thought we were talking about October.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 October 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

OK good. Revise your position.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 7 October 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

My revised position is that any of those three days are good but a Friday or Saturday would be the bestest for obvious reasons.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 October 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

What? Because people are more likely to be busy with other things and not turn up, leaving Ally C all to you?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 October 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Jealousy will get you nowhere, Nick.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 7 October 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I prefer midweek FAPs. But I am just the FAPtrarian.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 7 October 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but what about crossrail or crosslink or crosscomuters or railrage or whatever they're calling that new tube? Huh?

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:25 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, I will now certainly be in London when I said I would probably be in London.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 11 October 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I preferred that trembling state of affairs when you were merely probably going to be in London.

I'm not serious. Where are you staying?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 11 October 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I have, as yet, no idea.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 11 October 2004 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
OK. I will be in London on Friday. So will Phil! I think.

Let me know what y'all are doing. Or, if you know you don't like me or think I am crushingly boring, don't.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 14 November 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

fridays, I get up at noon, go to a lecture, at two, start drinking, at half past three, and be very drunk, by seven, and keep drinking, until closing, and embarrass myself, in front of people I respect.

maybe I should come to london, for a change.

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 14 November 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Dr C has a gig on Friday, and I am tempted by that. An Ally C FAP would be strong competition, though.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 14 November 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

yes yes i'll be there on friday too. saturday is akufen and andrew weatherall. i think miss kittin too. not sure.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 14 November 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

A FAP is mandatory then, with two star guests in town.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 14 November 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Why not a FAP at the gig?

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 14 November 2004 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Bull & Gate FAP seems like the best option... I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make this as the whole weekend is kind of up in the air at the moment but hopefully I'll see Ally and Phil at some point during their stay.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 14 November 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

what gig is this?

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 14 November 2004 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Dr. C bringing the rock

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 14 November 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday FAP is U&K, indeed.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 14 November 2004 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Ally, I might possibly go to London for a knees up but I'll have to see how I am as I have the cold. Haven't been to London for years. Couldn't make it on Saturday, which is a pity. Was hoping to witness the return of the Mack. How did it go?

KeithW (kmw), Sunday, 14 November 2004 23:39 (twenty-one years ago)

It was great! Packed. Please come to London. It will make evrything fall into place.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I would have come last night, had I known it was on. Possibly.

I am not going to be able to afford London this year, unless me and the mister go between Christmas and New Year when we are both off work.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool, I will try.

I will need to rouse the robots to make an appearance.

KeithW (kmw), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Robots are U&K. That is still going then?

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:28 (twenty-one years ago)

The Pinefox and I are going to see Terry Eagleton, Frank Kermode, Andrew O'Hagan, Zadie Smith and James Wood on that night. :(

Are you still planning on being in town for the whole weekend?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 15 November 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

we might make a quick fap on Friday but are away the rest of the weekend (and getting an 8am ferry, so late night is not an option) :o(

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 15 November 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

ally and phil, you're coming with me to my friends' thing at fabric on friday night.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 15 November 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

(We like it when she demands)

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 15 November 2004 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

And yes, I will be around until Monday. Possibly going to see Go! Team on Saturday night, but I'll be seeing them in Glasgow so not urgent if anything else is happening.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 15 November 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

(that's what i said!)

koogs (koogs), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i have purchsed a melton mowbray pork pie from borough market, which i will consume before coming up to this 'pineapple' establishment. food before booze is a rule that i simply cannot break, and a large pork pie seems like a wise option.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

MMm pie. Starry, come to pub and I will feed you the slice of banana nut bread that is in my desk drawer.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It's actually Leverton Street according to Streetmap.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Lixi, I did say it was a FAP and Ally was in town and I thought you said you were going to text him and get in touch, but that might not have been clear. Just come along and you can laugh at my booze-free state.

Liz, you = CHAMP.

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I knew cake bait would work.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Mike, that second (third) exclamation mark was the work of a geuiunniesses.
-- the dreamfox

i read this and thought 'oh now you're just being ridiculous' but then i read mike's post and i did giggle

i also feel bad for not letting alix know what a pineapple is

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Come to the pub, straightlord.

now THAT'S funny

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Why can't I find a suitable picture of Jason Lee anywhere on the interweb?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

weirdly i thought you were talking about the 'third banana' of Kevin Smith movie fame

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

omg mattDC and I had a moment of brain mergage

ken c (ken c), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

this shared brain ain't big enough for the both of us

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 19 November 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I have now recovered from the horror and should be leaving work about 6ish so SEE YOU ALL LATER!

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 19 November 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Stuff it I am leaving now! Bawhahaa.

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 19 November 2004 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to this FAP and it was good but I went home before Dr C's rock valhalla and I wonder how it went.

Revelation of the evening: Koogy has blue eyes. I don't know why that surprises me.

Highlight of the evening: old fella playing air guitar to Queen.

When you come out of Kentish Town tube station, there's this kind of VOID, a black hole, a nothingness. I think it's the effects of a railway bridge. Anyway, it's this kind of VOID that freaks me out about London. I suppose they have them everywhere, but it doesn't seem to matter anywhere else.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Saturday, 20 November 2004 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I woke up in Dalston on Friday morning with no idea how I got there and a house full of strange Spaniards. I think the idea was that we couldn't get to the Spanish Bar so if we just brought enough Spaniards along, then it would be like the Spanish Bar in Emsk's living room. So I had a roaring hangover yesterday and couldn't move and ended up locked in Emsk's house while she went to get a Visa for Pakistan and ended up not going anywhere yesterday because I couldn't get out of the front door.

But I don't feel bad about not going to other people's FAPs/gigs/parties/etc. any more because other people never come to mine. Except for the couple of people that did, and they are excepted from my "humph".

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Saturday, 20 November 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Peter,

I just sent Ally a text to confirm that he is a robot. That should cheer him up.

KeithW (kmw), Saturday, 20 November 2004 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Keith.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Saturday, 20 November 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

aw, can't we keep 'em?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

They do add so much glamour to the London social scene, previously figureheaded by Gareth and his 57 varites of brown.

Ol' prune face (Mark C), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

(I have pix from the Greenwich meet-up two days later - I could upload them tomorrow).

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I withdraw my offer.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, now we finally have the answer to "What's brown in Kentish Town?" GARETH!!!

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

he was in Manchester tho

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm confused.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth was not in kentish town, on friday.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I was brown, on Sunday. Stevie said I was 'Garethian', or something.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it was Reithian - you kept our Birtism in check.

I was going to post pix (I didn't strop out of doing so at Ally's portrait of a hamfaced atrocity above) but the PC was playing silly buggers last night and it was late and I needed my bed.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Now, then.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Tomorrow, perhaps.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

It is tomorrow, people.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 25 November 2004 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

THE tomorrow, people?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Thursday, 25 November 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that Greenwich market? You might have seen my sister, she has a stall there.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't look good, even in a flurry.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 25 November 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

You'd look good, in a MacFlurry

Mooro (Mooro), Thursday, 25 November 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Crunchie.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 26 November 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

you look like you're at school, in the first one.

I like the brown jumper, with the blue t-shirt and your face.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 26 November 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

These are true. The second one, I look OK.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 26 November 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I looked at the first one in a funny way, where I saw the top of your hair as the top of your head, as if you had a very big forehead and a really straight fringe. Does that make sense? I like the second one.
