Recommend me a good video game for PS2

(sigh) I'm always reluctant to buy video games. I can be rather self righteous when Wifey wastes two hours on the Playstation. I haven't actually enjoyed a video game in years. Not to sound nerdy, but usually, I'd rather read.

Bought ATV Off Road Fury II on a whim - it was $10. It's boring. All it does is make me wish I was riding a real ATV.

I've heard Burnout 3 is good - is it? I like games where cars get raced / destroyed. Oh and I like boxing games.

The only reason I ever liked GTA was riding around smashing shit. I never did the missions, but, due to the lady's obsession, I can practically recite the entire script.

I am probably the only person in America under 30 who is DREADING the release of San Andreas.

Not that I even have the time to waste, but...what's good?

Burnout 3 is a MUST if you like destroying cars. It has an entire mode devoted to that!

what kinda games do you want? hack & slash? RPG? puzzle-solving? driving/racing?

i recommend Dynasty Warriors 3 or 4 if you want a great hack-em-up in Feudal China.

Dark Cloud 2 is a fun cell-shaded actiony-RPG.

i like driving / racing and fighting games, mostly. No endless and tedious adventure games (and i include GTA in that category). Basically, I want the 'game' to end when I shut the machine off. But ideally I'd just like to fuck some shit up.

go for one of the Dynasty Warriors(or Samurai Warriors), then.

also, one of the Def Jam Vendetta games would be fine, too.

I've heard the Vendetta games are good, actually...but I also heard they're not exactly user friendly - a 'gamer' friend of mine said he couldn't figure out how to do anything. That doesn't bode well for me, still missing the relative minimalism (read: idiot proof) of Mega Man as I am.

If the release date of Gran Turismo 4 gets pushed back yet again, I'm gonna crack some skulls.

Damn, GT4 still hasn't come out? I thought that was scheduled for like a year and a half ago!

I know, right. Now they say mid-December, which is only sensible because if they wait til after Xmas they'll lose a fair bit of sales. Still not holding my breath though.

They've taken the online play out of it, too.

Pro evolution soccer 3 (4 when it comes out)
Virtua Tennis 2 (a great social lubricant)
Need 4 speed underground (underground 2 feat. Kelly Brook is out soon)
both of the above unreleased games will be in the shops before chrismas.
