I would like it if we all stared playing a MUD and helped each other out and got LEVEL UPS and had a clan and stuff.

How would people feel about this idea? Don't be mean, it's Christmas.

That's what gave me the idea!

Surely MUDs are old hats and we should enter a MMORPG

I'm a MOO guy, myself.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 25 December 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

MMORPGs are for chumps.

If ILXors played Gunbound I would be v. happy.

(Although I worship at the altar of the RPG, I think MMORPGs are for heretics.)

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 25 December 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Gunbound! I can't run it on this machine, though. Also oh, is that my ass? again? Oh, thanks for handing it here, cheers.

Dude, how are mmorpgs not the future? As soon as they catch up even like *halfway* to rpgs they'll be so much closer to actual free-choice roleplaying.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Saturday, 25 December 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I still miss aardwolf. I think I'm over it but I'm not, really.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Saturday, 25 December 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

MOO is a better acronym than MUDOO! OOMUD would have been cool though.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 25 December 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

mmrpgs are a fucking joke. like the last 5 final fantasy games.

twenty-one years pass...

“No stratergy” that’s right!

There’s a hole in my knowledge. Coming from an online childhood home, logged many hours of Tradewars and was an avid consumer of ANSI movies created in TheDraw…

Was super into Rogue-like style gaming— long before that type of game even had a name— I’ve probably played as much ADOM as Tetris in my life (that is, a hell of a lot)…

But I suppose that moving out for college and being computer-free for many years, I completely missed MUDs, even though they seem like they could’ve basically shackled me to a computer through my late teens and 20s. (Never played an MMPORG and was never interested).

Any MUD experiences? My gamer older brother was into them— he is now in his 50s and is still super active in the DayZ community
