i know, probably! but i promised people i'd go see them dj at tribeca. plus orchard bar is like 5 blocks from my house.

only a few hours to go - the (4) crates are full !

How'd it go? (I was at the misshapes thingy and can verify that whatever else was going down last night was probably more fun)

i was wishing you well from over here in brooklyn -- i made a pact with myself i wasn't gonna go into manhattan on new year's (too many crazy drunks out).

Dave Stelfox spun a great set of dancehall from 10-11
but the bar was pretty quiet until 1am
(saw in 2005 with about 15-20 friends dancing to Prince into Auld Lang Syne)
from 1 on it was fairly rammed (people from Times Square, houseparties & other bars?)
with great dance vibe until about 4:30 when it quietened down
so about 3 & half hours of strong dancefloor action
mostly to hip hop & dancehall

whenever I strayed from hip hop for a few tracks I'd get requests to return
and this limited ability to get too crazy
but was pleased anyway at the positive response to dancehall (new & classics)

didn't play much electrohaus or d&b
but got some good favela funk and UK garage (2 step & speed, not grime) in dere

more conservative than my regular Saturdays, but still lots of fun

in addition to guest DJs, I'm hoping to start theme nights
so genres like UKG and jungle get longer sets

gotta draw more fans of underground musics as regulars
to outweigh groups of people who only want to hear what they know
(mainly 90's hip hop, which I love - though not enough to overplay every week)...

sorry for lack of setlists so far - try and remember what you played (especially what exact sequence) after a 5-6 hr gig!
