This is the thread where we ask for help in finding lost threads

Don't know if this has already been done, but I've had trouble searching for some threads - I can't recall keywords or thread titles.

The one I'm looking for just now is the one regarding the correct etiquette used on passing someone you know coming in the opposite direction. Ignore them until they have almost passed and then give a surprised hello, or start acknowledging them from a distance?

This thread had me literally crying with laughter and I'm desperate for that boost again today.

I wrote one on that subject once
it was not all that funny so you may be thinking of another one. Try using my name.

I started a thread, I think within the last year and a half, and the thread title was something like "Recommend movies that will help me understand my own culture." I'm not having any luck using the search function or trying obvious categories. Let's see, I guess I could try searching on some of the movies I remember being recommended.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 14:34 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if that was one of the lost threads?

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 14:38 (twenty years ago)

i want to find the thread that contains a picture of Captian America punching somebody's lights out with the word WANK as a sound effect thingy.

Sailor Kitten (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

I found mine:

Recommend important ("important"), mainstream, English-language, films from 1990 to the present

Everybody always wants the comic book character threads.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

For g-kit, from ILX's premier board ILC.

Umm, that one thread where everyone was making puns from the names of post-structuralist philosophers? Probably like 2002 old, lots of Momus -- only pun I half-remember is something like "we will never get Derrida it now."

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

Nevermind, got it.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 16:21 (nineteen years ago)

How come, when you search for stuff, you can't sort it by date?

might be on 77 or MRF, but it's the thread with the ultra-brilliant line about the slow devolution of posters from earnest ILM reporter to crankier subboarder to in-joke spouter to drastic misspeller to sock puppet user that I'm finding more and more accurate these days

there is a thread discussing the loudest bands of all time, in particular a Mojo article that went in depth about concert volumes (MBV was at the top, I think? there were also some references to MC Hammer spawning noise ordinances that pretty much killed the idea of going over a certain db range within city limits...)

I can't find it, or the Mojo article. li'l help?

unorthodox economic revenge (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 5 October 2011 15:30 (fourteen years ago)

Can someone remind me what the thread with all the modernist, geometric-abstraction book covers from the 70s was called. Or At least some other archive of modernist book design. Thanks.

They're not all book covers, but maybe this one?
