So I just noticed something very strange in Blockbuster...

While browsing with m'lady, I came upon an interesting looking movie starring Johnny Knoxville called Grand Theft Parsons. I like Johnny, so I checked out the back - wouldn't you know, it's a movie based on the famous story of Gram Parsons' body getting kidnapped by a pal to comply with Gram's wishes of being buried at Joshua Tree! This is surprising because a) I'm a Gram Parsons fan and have never heard of this film, and b) it seems strange that a movie like this could be made at all and fall so far below the radar, not to mention be rent-able at shitty Blockbuster.

Even weirder, it was out, so I couldn't even rent it. Can anyone speculate on this?

i thought this would be about Blockbuster dropping their late fee policy (trying to compete with Netflix?).

It's better than one would expect but has a tendency to drag out every scene to the point of absolute tedium. The finale is almost worth it though, and the cute female love interest (though underused) is nice. The soundtrack is exactly what you would imagine.

Yep, that's pretty strange for a Blockbuster.

Very lukewarm NYT review, which suggests this was actually in theaters last summer. I don't remember hearing a thing about it.

Not from Gram Parsons, anyway. Because he's dead.

Wow, I knew they were planning this movie but I had no idea it came out, bombed and was already released on video.
