Three days, super-cheap entry! Next-gen systems, and rooms full of them! Videogame tournaments! A hugenormous basement for cards and wargames and shit! Hopefully-less-annoying-than-they-seem-online British ilxors!

Oh, go on...

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 17 February 2005 17:23 (twenty years ago)

Yes, yes I do. But I can't.

Hang on, when you say next-gen, what do you mean?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 17 February 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

I'm not actually entirely sure what I meant by that or where I got it from, to be honest. Plausibly I made it up. There will be NEW SHIT, anyway! I'm assuming a reasonably sizable chunk of the amount of neatstuff at e3?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

I might be in Washington state in late August and it might be cool to meet some ILXors, but I have no interest in this.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

come visit portland, too

Kingfish MuffMiner 2049er (Kingfish), Friday, 18 February 2005 01:24 (twenty years ago)

a friend in Washington writes:

If you come during the summer and you're here on a weekend we'll all
go to this really neat outdoor chamber music place on a farm on the Olympic Peninsula. (They have donkeys there.)

Sounds exciting, doesn't it?

youn, Friday, 18 February 2005 01:37 (twenty years ago)

All of this sounds exciting yeah! Non-expo-specific ilx action is awesome by me.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 18 February 2005 01:42 (twenty years ago)

I might have to pass on the Expo itself (for reasons far too long to go into.. let's just say I've been a game software developer for waaaaay too long), but there are easy bus options from downtown Bellevue to downtown Seattle...(the two cities are only 10 or so miles away from each other) The latter is where I'd most likely prefer to FAP in August.

donut debonair (donut), Friday, 18 February 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

I think I'll probably be going up to Vancouver after this and seattle/portland etc, the Toronto thread has convinced me to give it a try. Summer!

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 18 February 2005 01:49 (twenty years ago)

I'd love to go to this.

gravel, did you ever go to that exhibition of old computer games last year / a couple of years ago? I think it finished up, esconced in some edinburgh museum after a while but I never worked up the chutzpah to go through see it.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 18 February 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

from "stories of the street" by leonard cohen:

O come with me my little one
And we will find that farm
And grow us grass and apples there
To keep all the animals warm
And if by chance I wake at night
And I ask you who I am
O take me to the slaughter house
I will wait there with the lamb.

youn, Friday, 18 February 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

i'd go but only because i love the idea of an EXPO. I should just go to a comic book convention instead. or a sci fi convention. or a vampires inc convention.

six months pass...
This is very soon!

I am going, almost definitely. Is anyone else, at all? How about general being-in-the-area-age?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 22:11 (twenty years ago)

Will kingfish, donut, etc be around?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 02:36 (twenty years ago)

oh, when is that?

I'll be at Shellac this Saturday, and Brian Wilson this Sunday...

but if you're in town during the day on the weekend, or weeknight, then say hail yeah.

donut gon' nut (donut), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 04:01 (twenty years ago)

i know somebody who'll be there, but i can't make it up.

however, if you get the chance to head 3 hours south to hang out in portland, we have crash space for you here.

kingfish fucked up his login (kingfish 2.0), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 05:53 (twenty years ago)

They, er, wouldn't be heading up there from Portland by any chance? I'm actually in your fair city right now (I'll be back after the event) - currently trying to figure out a way to make it to Seattle short of waving paper signs at promising cars.

Gravel Nologin, Thursday, 25 August 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

break tycho's fingers so he can't type, willya?

W i l l (common_person), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

if you go amtrak, get a 500 Cascades train.. don't get the Coastal Starlight.. if you talk to the Amtrak people, they'll say "oh yeah, that train was actually on time 17 days this year!".

donut gon' nut (donut), Thursday, 25 August 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

How was it?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 06:26 (twenty years ago)
