a question for males on ilx, mainly, i guess.

when you are off ilx, and with a group of male friends, do you become more laddish?

do you enjoy a bit of male bravado and boorishness every now and again, or do you find it depressing?

Is your circle of friends very male? are your topics of converstaion / interests typically male ones?

laddishness!

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you implying that on ILX we're all effete pansies?

Huk-L, Monday, 28 February 2005 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm tough! I beat up big guys all the time!

Remy (He-man) (x Jeremy), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, I just lied flagrantly.

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

You do not activate testicular bravery properly, young Mr. Remy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I like to drink! If there's a war I'll be on the front lines!

Terry! (Gear!), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm caddish.

andy --, Monday, 28 February 2005 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

That depends, does drinking and watching p0rn in hotel rooms count as "laddishness"?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you have to watch p0rn in Motel rooms for it to be laddish.

Huk-L, Monday, 28 February 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

If you're watching queer porn and drinking Zima, no.

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

just a couple of bros watching gay p0rn, havin fun, that's totally laddish

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

This is why there's no such thing as 'Guys' Night Out'

Remy (null) (x Jeremy), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Every night is guy's night out.

mark s (mark s), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a certain circle of friends who can get ultrasupermega-laddish, or at least as laddish as classical musicians can get. (Don't get me started about my conductor friends, wow.)

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

baton-waving

Huk-L, Monday, 28 February 2005 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

It's mainly injokes, randomness, some serious stuff, comics and talk of world domination.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, Huck, you have NO IDEA.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Most of my friends aren't very laddish, but my band definitely is (hence the hotel rooms).

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I sorta like the argumentative conversations about music and movies and politics that groups of guys tend toward, and relish opportunities to involve myself in them.

OTOH, I have always hated talking to other guys about women and/or sex, especially when there's all this wink-nudge bullshit attached to it. Or I guess talking to one particular guy is okay, but when it's a group and full of phony boozy camaraderie, and serves to reinforce this stupid notion that men and women are different species, it makes me depressed.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 28 February 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I am too old to be a lad, really. I don't think I'm much like that, no - I have significantly more male friends than female, as a lot of my main interests, the ways I've mostly made friends, are more male - but I'm talking about things like comic books and obsessive interest in music, rather than cars and fighting and so on.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 28 February 2005 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

firstworldman (firstworldman), Monday, 28 February 2005 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

but modern.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Monday, 28 February 2005 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not laddish, and don't care much for laddishness. For some reason I tend to associate it w/british drinking culture, which I don't think is much use.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 28 February 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

my night of gay voibes

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 28 February 2005 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I compensate for the fact that I look a bit gay by belching and swearing constantly.

Michael Philip Philip Philip Philip Annoyman v1.0 (Ferg), Monday, 28 February 2005 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I am utterly laddish. I like drinking, football, and I find Jeremy Clarkson quite amusing (I might not agree with him, but his laddish conviction is the kind of thing I admire, against what i am led to believe should be my better judgement). I know stuff about sport and cars and am the only female i have ever encountered who doesn't give a shit about shoes.

I should be a boy, shouldn't i?

ailsa, you admire jeremy clarkson?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 02:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I am definately one of the least laddish person in existence.

Zarr, Tuesday, 1 March 2005 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

where are you from?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

How Jeremy Clarkson looks like Stephen Fry? That's irony.
