i think that's his name; the guy that used to maintain the ILX server(s).

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

Does the search function mean anything to you?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

Sven Basted (blueski), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

it's hard to spend time on ilx when...

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

I hope he's immersed in his studies, and hanging out with a bunch of pleasant Buffy-loving friends. That would be cool.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

"and to this day, my dears, no man dare place the 'blog view' function in new answers page-top, no indeed... "

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

i sometimes wonder if graham still lurks here. i'm guessing not.

does anyone still have off-board contact w/graham? again, i'm guessing not.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

is he the one that went mad and threated to delete ILX forever? HE"S THE BEST!

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:25 (twenty years ago)

he did briefly poke his head over the wossname on a mod thread explaining how easy it would be to fix the statscock. coincidentally it has just been drawn to my attention that he got bored with programming the EST/DST changeovers back in the day so it all went to cock 2 days ago. i have put in a fix to this time next year.

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

he posted in feb!! (some tech thing) (unless it wz someone using his name as a joke)

i used to email and AIM a lot with him but he stopped when he got locked out of board admin - i guess he felt i betrayed him, which i'm sad about

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

my favourite graham moment was the one where everyone was giving him advice about how to approach some girl he had a crush on, and everyone said stuff like "play it cool, graham!" then he went up to approach her, and reported back that he went up to her and said "this is a bit weird!" and everyone was like "oh dear".

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

sorry i should have said that this was indeed a few weeks back, poss mid feb

xpost mark

yeah, it was. um. unfortunate. the way it played out.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

yes that was the post i wz thinkin of, alan

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:34 (twenty years ago)

i hope things are working out for him: his tech skills are high, so that side of his life will be fine; sadly ilx maybe wasn't the ideal place to develop the other side so much, at least for him - which wz a pity, when he put so much into it on the programming side

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

I think probably everybody hopes it worked out for him, despite the fact that maybe people laughed on ILX alot, and sometimes it was just weird.

They were very dramatic days though.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

his shrook app does ok for itself - it pops up on macintouch when it's updated, that sort of thing

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

Did I miss something? What happened?

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

While we're on the subject...where have all the cowboys gone? What happened to the likely lads? Where on EARTH is Carmen Sandiego? They shoot horses, don't they?

Airtube (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

will someone fix the tracklink thingie that he put in?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

hahaha omg xpost with alan!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

I figured that the man making an RSS reader would have trackbacks enabled.....

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

actually i wz thinkin sadly and fondly of other grebt lost ilxors yesterday - eg what is KODANSHI up to these days?

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

There's no trackback is there? He can get REFERER though... I doubt he would be upset about us missing him.

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

there SHOULD be trackbacks - i didn't know they'd been disabled too?! let me test them internally. there's no autodiscovery code in his blog's HTML, so maybe the site doesn't support trackback pings

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:56 (twenty years ago)

This thread went from not making sense to being confusing, in the space of about 30 posts.

does that make you want to touch yourself? (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

Alan, I've been noticing stuff times out sending trackbacks, even to ilx.

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

ilx only supports one at a time, i.e. if you post links to three threads the first one affixes a trackback and the second two don't make it

i tried searching for the immortal library-girl thread where graham actually drew an ASCII diagram of where she was sitting in relation to him at that moment, but doing a search for "library" "weird" and "graham" apparently brings the server to its knees.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

got it! this really is one of the best of all time in some ways.

How do you know if someone fancies you?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

(tracer i need yr help on the Yes No thread)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

i want to know what happened b/w graham and shelley!

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

it is up to you all to write the fanfic since apparently the Graham Show has been cancelled by ILX!

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

Where's Andrew? Or is he around under a different name?

Curious George (1/6 Scale Model) (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

I like graham!

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 8 April 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

he's on my aim list and i see him on it quite a few times. but i never chat with him anymore. :-( i remember hanging out with him a few years ago. i miss him.

hmm seeing that pic, reminds me that i need to go watch some more buffy.

nathalie doing a soft foot shuffle (stevie nixed), Friday, 8 April 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

graham was sweet quite a lot of the time. i think i liked him too, though i found some of the things he said utterly ridiculous.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 8 April 2005 22:49 (twenty years ago)

he's right behind you

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 8 April 2005 22:56 (twenty years ago)

He got friends.

Vic in Becky Lucas (Vic), Friday, 8 April 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

for anyone keeping track (ahem), trackbacks ARE working, but there is something odd about the DNS resolution of "ilx.wh3rd.net" from the ilx server. so i've patched that.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Saturday, 9 April 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

i saw him in tescos earlier tonight. i was with a friend, so I didn't talk to him though.

five years pass...

I had a chance meeting with Graham on Sunday evening at the Young Marble Giants gig at the Union Chapel on Sunday evening. He seemed much the same as before if a little chunkier (aren't we all). He told me he designed mobile apps. I was not surprised.
