Trailer here.

Orlando Bloomps as a muslim killer!

Ridley Scott reminding us that he made Gladiator!

Jeremy Irons!

Qui-Gonn Jin!

A French Girl!

More flame throwing catapults!

A digital cast of thousands!

And so on!

Jimmy Mod Knows You Eat Your Own Farts (ModJ), Saturday, 9 April 2005 02:55 (twenty years ago)

Admit it -- it looks awesome. This could be Scott's Goodfellas, which means he will get snubbed come Oscar time by Kevin Costner.

Jimmy Mod Knows You Eat Your Own Farts (ModJ), Saturday, 9 April 2005 02:56 (twenty years ago)

Is it a creepy Christian film ala "The Passion of the Christ"?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 9 April 2005 03:03 (twenty years ago)

Probably not. Or maybe very much so.

WITH BOWS AND ARROWS!

Jimmy Mod Knows You Eat Your Own Farts (ModJ), Saturday, 9 April 2005 03:05 (twenty years ago)

This actually looks good in a big dumb blockbuster way.

The new Tony Scott movie looks better though - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421054/
I guess Ridley got Orlando, Tony got Keira - will Johnny Depp make a cameo in each?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Saturday, 9 April 2005 04:29 (twenty years ago)

have you seen the trailer to domino yet?

j blount (papa la bas), Saturday, 9 April 2005 05:03 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it looks like his usual sub-Oliver Stone schizophrenia. Which can be pretty cool when appropriately cracked out. I dug Man On Fire, what can I say?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Saturday, 9 April 2005 05:41 (twenty years ago)

wow I thought you meant the actual Kingdom of Heaven, had no idea it was a movie

Maria (Maria), Saturday, 9 April 2005 11:41 (twenty years ago)

Come Anticipate Kingdom Of Heaven With Me :p

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Saturday, 9 April 2005 11:44 (twenty years ago)

seems they did their homework on this one - knighting wasnt poncey tapping of swords on shoulders, but giving an oath, then getting punched in the face

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Saturday, 9 April 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

The search function takes way too long.

Jimmy Mod Knows You Eat Your Own Farts (ModJ), Saturday, 9 April 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

I hate the way Orlando Bloom talks, he always does that stupid fey whispery voice in every movie. Jerk.

Leon WK (Ex Leon), Saturday, 9 April 2005 13:48 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
I think this is the worst article I have ever read:

http://enjoyment.independent.co.uk/film/features/story.jsp?story=632975

"It may be a sign of the degradation of our culture, or it could just be my brain, but amongst other terrifying things about our future, Ridley Scott's first blockbuster Alien (1979) seems to predict reality TV...."

N_RQ, Friday, 29 April 2005 08:51 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
has anyone up in this bitch viewed the FOUR DISC 'kingdom of heaven' director's cut?

Roughage Crew (Enrique), Monday, 3 July 2006 10:09 (nineteen years ago)

probably my least favourite movie of last year.

The Boy Who Cried YSI? (Freud Junior), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

The director's cut is pretty great and definitely worth checking out. I have to admit to be biased towards anything with medieval knights clanking around in it, but highly enjoyable.

The Ultimate Conclusion (lokar), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 02:46 (nineteen years ago)

i will have to wait for the g/f to disappear for the weekend or something.

but in detail how does the dircut differ? is there more extra specialness, would you say?

Roughage Crew (Enrique), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 07:26 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

how did I miss theis thread? or the other one?
the four-disc set is 2 discs of movie and 2 discs of making-of with lots of extra trivia all over the place, even in the subtitles.
the 2-disc director's cut is done in a roadshow style and probably the best epic anybody's made in a good long time. William Monahan before he got famous!

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 08:52 (eighteen years ago)

this movie is tight

omar little, Monday, 21 January 2008 09:04 (eighteen years ago)

i saw the 4-disc set for £3 ($6,000) and still didn't get... regretting a bit now.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Monday, 21 January 2008 10:07 (eighteen years ago)

I find it kind of awesome that this brought home truckloads of money from Egypt after bombing in the states

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

& yeah enrique that was a missed opportunity. the wiki page has a decent rundown of what's in the dircut vs the theatrical release, in handy bullet-list format

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 19:33 (eighteen years ago)

i asked for it for christmas and did not receive. i even told my parents, 'it's totally underrated'

omar little, Monday, 21 January 2008 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

That first scene where he sets the blacksmith on fire! WIN. (I do not remember anything else specific bcz I was really high when I saw it, but it was a pretty damn rad movie! I remember that much.)

Abbott, Monday, 21 January 2008 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

Or maybe a blacksmith set a religious official on fire. There was slo-mo burning either way.

Abbott, Monday, 21 January 2008 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

i recommend watching the director's cut, but get a little drunk instead of high

omar little, Monday, 21 January 2008 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

it's tricky to pace yourself though

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

I mean it is like 190 minutes plus the overture, intermission and entr'acte

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

i remember thinking the theatrical version was 'ok' but how different from is the director's cut?

latebloomer, Monday, 21 January 2008 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

challenge accepted, tb.

lb: about fifty minutes longer, less choppy, totally epic

omar little, Monday, 21 January 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

i guess i should see this?

the director's cut?

i dont know if i can deal with that much bloompsage

s1ocki, Monday, 21 January 2008 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

eva green is hotttt in this

max, Monday, 21 January 2008 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

bloom is kind of bland as usual but the rest of the cast is 110%, esp. crepey mask ed norton

max, Monday, 21 January 2008 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

bloomps is bloomps. no matter how much they make him up to look grizzled and thirty he can't help seeming wet behind the ears. a little of that works for the character though, because he's supposed to be a bit naive

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

I think

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

david thewlis rules in this too

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

and brendan gleeson with blood all over his face

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:20 (eighteen years ago)

eva green is hotttt in this

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:23 (eighteen years ago)

jeremy irons

El Tomboto, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:32 (eighteen years ago)

the priest set on fire is not only bloomps' brother, he is played by MICHAEL SHEEN.

Gukbe, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 00:32 (eighteen years ago)

he gets stabbed through the guts AND set on fire

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 00:33 (eighteen years ago)

omar little, Monday, 17 March 2008 19:03 (eighteen years ago)

ten months pass...

the director's cut box of this is so boss

TOMBOT, Sunday, 18 January 2009 07:18 (seventeen years ago)

just to reiterate

TOMBOT, Sunday, 18 January 2009 07:19 (seventeen years ago)

I would consider amazong gifting it for folks who still haven't got it I mean it's like $20 which if I think about things the right way I would gladly give up a couple cab rides or a few beers so that a deserving individual might have the opportunity to fully appreciate this wonderful achievement of moviemaking

TOMBOT, Sunday, 18 January 2009 07:22 (seventeen years ago)

two years pass...

Watched Alexander the Final Cut. Remembered I owned this and dug it out. Making a fuckin' night of it.

Gukbe, Sunday, 7 August 2011 03:16 (fourteen years ago)

two years pass...

finally watched the Director's Cut

so awesome

like, I fell asleep 10 min into the theatrical version & could not have given two shits about anyone in it...amazing what putting back in a bunch of key character details does for a sweeping epic
