I can -- on Amazon if you look at Lizzy Mercier Descloux's Mambo Nassau (kaleidoscopic/tropical/disco-mambo-dub-funk-pop from 1980) they suggest buying it with some album by The United States of America. Well, it's only funny to me.

In Finnish the most common phrase is "ottaa suihin", which translates roughly to "take into mouth".
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)
Well that's exciting.
― Ms Misery, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)
Of course both the Finnish and the English terms are male-defined, since you neither take the pussy into your mouth nor blow it like a trumpet.

Next you'll tell me a tampon is descriminating males. I mean, ffs, Tuomas, you can take your feminism a bit too far.
― nathalie, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)
FWIW I don't commonly hear cunnilingus referred to as a "blowjob"
― Ms Misery, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)
I think you want the vagina wet, not dry. ;-)
― nathalie, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:04 (eighteen years ago)
Hmm, is there a proper slang word for "female blowjob" then? Cunnilingus sounds awfully technical.
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:07 (eighteen years ago)

oh is that what it is?
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:08 (eighteen years ago)
isn't this a thread somewhere? Also wouldn't "take into mouth" also not be unisex?
Unisex: going down giving head

this was covered, you don't give chicks "blowjobs"
― That one guy that hit it and quit it, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)
Semantically, "ottaa suihin" seems to refer to male blowjobs, because literally it means "taking something inside your mouth". But the phrase has become unisex, so people don't much think about the literal meaning.
(x-post)
Nath, my point wasn't to take the fun out of the discussion, why else would I have said that you can't blow the pussy like a trumpet?
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)
we're having fun, right kids? yeah!
― and what, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:16 (eighteen years ago)
i know a guy who doesn't enjoy blowjobs because he feels like it's 'degrading' to the woman giving it. seriously.
― Rubyredd, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)
His name isn't Tuomas is it?
― Tom D., Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:18 (eighteen years ago)
Haha, even I don't take my feminism that far!
Back in the seventies there was a feminist writer who said that penetration as such was degrading to women (which of course meant that all proper feminists should become lesbians). I don't think she was very popular though.
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:21 (eighteen years ago)
Not with men anyway
― Tom D., Tuesday, 11 September 2007 13:24 (eighteen years ago)
the only time i've ever felt degraded by it was many years ago, when i was dating a weird canadian guy. i'd just done the deed, and he said to me: 'wow, that was fantastic...' (tootin' my own horn) '...to be that good you must have had a lot of practise... which means you've probably swallowed a hell of a lot of cum'.
needless to say, that was the last blowjob he got from me.
― Rubyredd, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 17:09 (eighteen years ago)
I hope you punched him in the balls.

from the birthday thread - how 'degrading' (or insert-preferred-word - positive or negative) is c on f?
― milo z, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 00:47 (eighteen years ago)
and would it have been more or less acceptable before Internet porn?
Surely as a porn practice it predates the Internet?
I don't know anyone in real life who'd have men do that to her, but I assume in real life it must be pretty degrading, because I see no other purpose for it than to emphasize the woman's submissiveness. (Though maybe some folks just like to imitate porn practices without thinking about the implicit power relations?) In porn, the practice is said to exist to provide a visual proof that the male actor actually comes, though it undoubtedly also has a lot to do with how genders and their power relations are portrayed there. I mean, if mainstream porn is meant mostly for straight guys, why should they care whether another guy comes or not?
Anyway, in real life no one needs such "proof", so I can't see no other point in it than proving the woman's submissiveness. Though of course if it's done as part of an S/M role play, things can get kinda muddled.

For punching someone in the balls?
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 10:56 (eighteen years ago)
It's all true: and when a man goes down on a woman, that merely emphasises a man's submissiveness, which is obviously bad, as only being dominant is good. Therefore, we should all practice sex standing up, to emphasise equal power relations.
― moley, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 11:14 (eighteen years ago)
Preferably in public, with me taking photos.
― moley, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 11:17 (eighteen years ago)
Er, we were talking about coming on someone's face, not blowjobs. And like I said, I don't think there's anything wrong in willful submission (though submission often is a different thing for men and women because of different gender expectations), but somehow I don't think coming on her face is usually something that both participants are equally interested in.
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)
