It feels weird! No back!

a real bear behind the microphone (nordicskilla), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

Are you from the future?

Huk-L, Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

My Grade Nine English teacher had one of those...back when I was in Grade Nine!

Huk-L, Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

Which was when there was still such a thing as the Soviet Union!

Huk-L, Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:26 (twenty years ago)

Are you a KGB Agent from the Future?

Huk-L, Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:26 (twenty years ago)

The arm rest on my office chair is held together with packing tape, and it's missing a wheel, so sometimes I get hurt.

Huk-L, Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

Like when I try to spin.

Huk-L, Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

It doesn't look very adjustable. If I can't low-ride the thing like my chair I have here then I'm not interested. Also, are you sure you don't look, you know, totally gay?

TOMBOT, Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:29 (twenty years ago)

I'm not altogether sure of that, no.

a real bear behind the microphone (nordicskilla), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

Tombot brings up a good point.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

Those things are so cool. The guy who produced my band's record used one of those things, and he didn't look gay at all. As a matter of fact, everytime he went to the bathroom, we'd all take turns sitting in it.

Or kneeling in it. Whatever you do in one of those things.

It was perfect for him to work on the soundboard, and he could still spin around by twisting his left leg slightly.

As far as looking gay is concerned, which is worse? Having sore knees or having a sore ass?

I'm not sure I'd know which way is forward.

Rufus 3000 (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

It makes me feel tall, but it hurts my shins. I have kept my old chair so I can switch between them! I have three chairs now!

a real bear behind the microphone (nordicskilla), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

okay i am in pain

a real bear behind the microphone (nordicskilla), Thursday, 23 June 2005 20:00 (twenty years ago)

the knees of your trouser will suffer, possibly.

Alex in Doncaster (Alex in Doncaster), Thursday, 23 June 2005 20:54 (twenty years ago)

i used to work with a woman who had one of these chairs. we mocked her mercilessly. mind, we did that long before she got the chair ... and long after she had the nervous breakdown and quit.

(nb: i'm joking. she didn't quit. she was sacked.)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 23 June 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

My aunt has one of these. It's okay, I guess, I just feel like I'm sitting *too straight* when I sit on it.

nathalie's post modern sleaze fest (stevie nixed), Thursday, 23 June 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

Every time I try those things they give me back pain. Aren't they supposed to be good for your back?

I know some come from the reality (wetmink), Thursday, 23 June 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

I dxon't understand this so called chair.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 23 June 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

Guys, I'm not kidding, this chair is a miracle.

lucky. my ass is sore

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

I was just messing with my chair as I saw this thread. My back has been KILLING me that last two days (I think it's from sleeping or working out, but the chairs certainly aren't helping).

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

I'm getting one of these for my desk at home this weekend:

That chair has a back, how totally passe'!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

One of my co-workers has the backless chair. I'm going to ask him if I can take it for a test-sit today.

My dad has the backless chair, at his ham radio desk.

Jordan - stick with it, it might feel weird at first. ry it for two weeks and alternate it with a "normal" chair because they are not made for sitting on all day. I built up from 3 hours a day to 6 or 7.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 19:42 (twenty years ago)

With certain basic items that have been around since the dawn of history (like the chair), I'm of the opinion that the basic design is pretty much set by now, and if there was a breakthrough in form and functionality, it would be more widespread by this point. So, I'll take the 'backed' chair. So I can sit back.

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 19:51 (twenty years ago)

i was just kidding!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 19:59 (twenty years ago)

Although, I must say, in the backless chair one does not ever really feel the NEED to sit back, it's simply not an issue!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:00 (twenty years ago)

It encourages you to lean forward, exposing your supple buttocks.

The Ghost of Dean Gulberry (dr g), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

What do us people with non-supple buttocks do, then?

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

There is a salve for that.

Still THE LICK

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

As much as I endorse this chair, I still have no idea what to formally call it.

don't you ever want to (cue song starts playing) LEAN BACK?

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 25 January 2007 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

No, you get used to sitting on them. Except I've had two and they both broke (flimsy cheap ass wood they use for the knee boards + overweight sitting-at-his-PC-all-the-time nerd), so I'm going back to real chairs. I'll miss them though, it does feel very good to sit like that after a while. :-(

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 28 January 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

I heard these were bad for ones knees/shins?

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 28 January 2007 23:03 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think I have any lasting knee/shin problems from sitting on them, but yeah, you do have to go through a couple of weeks when they hurt before you get used to the posture. The sitting straight does wonders for your back though, that alone is worth it, IMO.
