My left eyelid keeps twitching uncontrollably. This has been happening for three weeks now. SO annoying.

step AWAY from the computer, son.

This happened to me for a while. Doctor said stress maybe although at the time I was convinced I had early onset motor-neurone disease. It wasn't and it went away, so never fear :)

Product of Australia / Kate (papa november), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it could be computer. I wear lenses and it is very annoying. I get lots of sleep, though! I don't feel all that stressed, but my natural state is one of worrying about things beyond my control.

Nevada Lime (nordicskilla), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

It'll happen. And then it'll go away as quick as it started. And then it'll come back in a couple of years and you'll say "where ya been ol' buddy?" TWITCH TWITCH TWITCH

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

I've had one that comes and goes for about three years now. I have no idea what triggers it.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

It will go away and you won't even remember it a couple days after it's gone.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

I get that only when I have had almost no sleep.... maybe you are the same?

scout (scout), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

i've been getting the twitch in my right eyelid for the last couple days. figure it's lack of sleep :(

read an article in glamour magazine a few years ago that was something like '10 symptoms you don't need to worry about' and this was one of them.

caffeine poisoning. I once did extensive research on this

carbon (carbon), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

hahahah otm. i think it's just eyestrain, but i wouldn't rule out stress as a factor.

Ô¿Ô (eman), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

"poisoning" I mean

carbon (carbon), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Actually, I just realized...this has totally coincided with my giving up coffee...

Nevada Lime (nordicskilla), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

I had trouble with this affliction and it was distressing enough for me to convince myself I'd need to quit a job to make it go away.

I quit the job, and it did.

scrimshaw (scrimshaw1837), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:38 (twenty years ago)

This happens to me when I'm really, pitifully stressed and tired. Luxurious amounts of sleep always cures it for me.

pullapartgirl (pullapartgirl), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

Yep, I get it when I quit coffee. I visualize it as the poisons somehow seeping out of my sodden liver through my nerve endings causing spasms...

carbon (carbon), Monday, 11 July 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

Did you research involve an animation of the poison seepage? Powerpoint, maybe?

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Monday, 11 July 2005 22:04 (twenty years ago)

I wish I knew why mine is doing it.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 03:47 (twenty years ago)

could this have anything to do with blood pressure?

i used to get sporatic twitching that never had any identifiable cause, but it hasn't happened in a few years.

tehresa (tehresa), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 03:50 (twenty years ago)

Eyestrain is a definite possibility. I had this for a while, got a new prescription for my glasses and it's been gone ever since.

Sasha (sgh), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 04:09 (twenty years ago)

I've had a couple of bouts of this, lasting weeks to months. For me, it's usually been at pretty stressful times. I've learned to see it as a sign of anxiety. And/or lack of sleep.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 04:25 (twenty years ago)

this often happens to me around exams/work deadlines. so it could be down to stress and/or fatigue for me.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 04:52 (twenty years ago)

I get this every so often and it's fucking annoying. Normally totally to do with computer use, tiredness and stress. Get yourself outside in the sun for a lazy nap.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 07:22 (twenty years ago)

yeah that's good advice i think. and i didn't say that in my post - but i agree, it is really fucking annoying.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 07:26 (twenty years ago)

When will it stop???

Almost a month of this now!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

I can't remember when mine stopped but I haven't had it for at least a year and I've been drinking coffee like a motherfucker. You could try that. And PS if stress were a factor I'm sure my eyes would be twitching all over the place right now.

carbon (carbon), Monday, 18 July 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

you should drink alot more water adam (if you don't already) it worked f0r me.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 23 July 2005 19:29 (twenty years ago)

I will try that.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Saturday, 23 July 2005 20:06 (twenty years ago)

two months pass...
I have had this for a WEEK now. It coincides with me attempting to eat less wheat. Could the two be connected?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

Oh no! Wheat withdrawal!

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

I think the bible had something to say about that.

400% Nice (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

Adam, did your twitch go away? How did you make it vanish?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

I don't know. Just one day it wasn't there.

400% Nice (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Wait till you quit with gluten, your PENIS will start twitching like MAD.

nathalie, a bum like you (stevie nixed), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

Mental note to self: Quit Gluten

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

I quit gluten and that never happened.

400% Nice (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

msp (mspa), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

I've had this on and off for years, at times it REALLY got to me.
Possible causes include stress, too much caffeine and too little sleep.

For me it seems that when it's happening eating very sugary things makes i much worse.

mei (mei), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

I get the eyelid twitch when I'm super stressed out. It plagued me in my final year of university. It flared up last year during Thee Infamous Breakup (tm), too.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

My big toe has a helluva twitch.
