N_RQ, Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

Is it still there, fluttering around?

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

apparently the office manager has set it free

he is kind of a skinhead male lara croft --- among his office equipment there is doubtless a vast soft butterfly net, for just such eventualities

the office handyman says there is a ghost on the first floor

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:28 (twenty years ago)

Was your office built on a hellmouth?

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

Please say yes.

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:31 (twenty years ago)

hmmm, not sure

*emails head of demonic resources*

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)

No offence, but all your bogs bite it.

Or at least, this one might.

US Male, Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:34 (twenty years ago)

the title of this thread made me think it was about sneaking a quick bat(that's what i/friends call a spliff) in the loo. but i was wrong.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

i was misinformed about the office manager's heroic struggle

he just came in to say he had NO JOY finding the bat, but while they were looking they found a LIZARD!!! he showed it me in a tupperware box - he has called london zoo and everything but they declined to help, except to say that - given its colouring etc - iot is v.unwell and needs to be put somewhere appropriate QUICKLY or it will die :(

anyway apparently the ghost-sensitive office handyman's son keeps reptiles so he is going to look after it

!!!END TIMES AHOY!!! ------:0

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:39 (twenty years ago)

i wonder which came first, bat or lizard.

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

They were having sex?!

Raston Worrier Robot (alix), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

a-lizard or b-lizard?

o, Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

Or did the bat turn into a lizard?

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

(haha alix!)

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

Is it possible that the bat took some sort of evolutionary u-turn?

NickB (NickB), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:43 (twenty years ago)

U-bend more like

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:49 (twenty years ago)

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:53 (twenty years ago)

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:55 (twenty years ago)

How tall was this lizard?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 13:01 (twenty years ago)

'In addition to my outstanding and versatile Slaying abilities, I have a broad base of administrative skills and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. I am especially skilled at MS Word and the containment of the Undead.'

alright I've been applying for jobs way too long.

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 13:02 (twenty years ago)

so what was the colour that indicated that it was unwell?

and is it still that colour? have you put the lizard somewhere appropriate in the mean time? maybe it's preggers after the rendezvous with the bat.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 13:03 (twenty years ago)

I thought the title of this thread was "Beat On The Blogs" and it was gonna be by a Ramones lover/blog hater.

k/l (Ken L), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 13:04 (twenty years ago)

I would love a bat-lizard baby! It would be so cute.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 13:05 (twenty years ago)

The lizard has herpes

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 13:05 (twenty years ago)

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

Are you sure that bat and lizard were not just a certain Transylvanian count and his fly-eating sidekick in non-human form?

k/l (Ken L), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

There are no bats or lizards in our bathrooms, I've just checked. I admit that I'm slightly disappointed.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

there is a person who works in my office who is a real hoarder and never throws anything out. One day her manager said to her that she had to throw out at least some of her older, yellower manuscripts as they were piling up, blocking the corridor and were a potential fire risk. Very reluctantly, she started picking them up and throwing them in the recycling, only to find a dead bat, squashed completely flat, sandwiched between two of them.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

haha that HORRIBLE PIG wz not visible on my work computer --- i saw THIS:
http://web1.caryacademy.org/chinese2/chinese-dragon.gif
(wonders: what shapeshifting malarkey will occur this time?)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

this thread title reminds me of a scene from The Warriors.

was thinking last night that i'd not seen a bat for ages and the last one (hundred) i saw was in london zoo. then, on the way to work this morning the young girl walking in front of me in the park was holding a rubber bat.

bats are a protected species in england so don't kill them.

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 07:33 (twenty years ago)

ok

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 07:49 (twenty years ago)

they also can have RABIES. beware

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 07:52 (twenty years ago)

very rare in the uk though. this place says there have been exactly 5 deaths since 1977.

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 08:00 (twenty years ago)

I took care of a bat for a day once, it had been attacked by a bird just outside my office. I put it in a dark cosy box on my desk, although it looked pretty far gone. Later someone from the university environment dept turned up and said he'd 'take care of it' - I reminded him they were a protected species, just in case. They phoned me back later and told me it had recovered and flown off. Yay.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 08:12 (twenty years ago)

yay! well done archelina! you're a regular dr doolittle!
1977... that was good year...

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

the local rubbish newspaper linked to some blog where some guy was going on about encountering a bat in his workplace... maybe they are invading.

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 31 July 2005 11:08 (twenty years ago)

seven months pass...
in planet earth on sonday they were in a cave climbing a 100m high mound of soft bat guano which was alive and glittery w.cockroaches

so maybe my job is not so bad after all

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 21:49 (nineteen years ago)

eight years pass...

Wish my bog wildlife were anywhere near this interesting. Once saw a small centipede.
