what was that State sketch about kids in Russia longing for ice cream trucks with actual ice cream in them?

something about "dreaming of chocodiles"

Oh my beloved ice cream bar...

...how I love to lick your creamy center... and your oh-so-nutty chocolate covering...

rogermexico (rogermexico), Thursday, 21 July 2005 18:49 (twenty years ago)

I think when I was a little kid I missed how completely discomforting and creepy that episode was.

hahaha. their hotlinking graphic is almost the same as mine.

xpost

yeah, Space Madness always was the greatest ep. "DON'T TOUCH THAT BUTTON, YOU FOOL"

for the ultimate melding of John K's Peter Lorre & Kirk Douglas tendencies...

kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 21 July 2005 19:02 (twenty years ago)

I have indeed been pwned.

And yes, "Space Madness" would be my Ren and Stimpy OPO. "Nurse Stimpy" would be right up there, but the fact that over a decade later the phrase "ice cream bar" still immediately conjures forth "I've had this ice cream bar since I was a child" is a pretty insurmountable argument.

rogermexico (rogermexico), Thursday, 21 July 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

My "usual" from the ice cream man was the mickey mouse ice cream bar (though it's not really a bar per se). choc and vanilla ice cream, and the ears were dipped in choc. mmmmm.

CHOCO TACOS = GIFT FROM TEH HEVVENS

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 21 July 2005 20:01 (twenty years ago)

Give us this day our daily Klondike, and lead us not into ice cream sandwiches.

Truckdrivin' Buddha (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 21 July 2005 20:08 (twenty years ago)

the ice cream trucks here in portland(more like enclosed golf carts, really) play "Look for the Union Label".

also, what was that sketch on The State where they talk about the children waiting for chocodiles in very poor parts of post-soviet russia?

kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 21 July 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

nestle toll house ice cream sandwiches are probably the best thing i have ever, ever, ever eaten.

I used to like the Big Kahuna, but I can never find one anymore

rainy (rainy), Thursday, 21 July 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

Is that more exotic one supposed to be some kind of ice cream taco?
I used to love this generic kind when I was a kid:

I haven't had one of those for a couple years. I should go buy one.

Stan Fields (Stan Fields), Thursday, 21 July 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

someone please bring me any of the ice cream treats on this thread. please?

When I was a kid, I preferred the exotics, but these are now the ones I love the most!

rogermexico (rogermexico), Thursday, 21 July 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

I used to love these, too, but they're nigh impossible to find in SoCal...

This type was my favorite for a bit (without nuts) but then it got to the point where they would just end up sitting in the freezer and eventually had to be thrown out after being there for too long.

I'd give anything to return to the time of simple vanilla ice cream sandwiches from the corner store on a hot summer day.....

Stan Fields (Stan Fields), Thursday, 21 July 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

i prefer the choc eclair ones.
the basic dean's ice cream bars are good.

if it's not on a stick, get it offa this thread!

The Good Humor Toasted Almond bar is clearly asuperior ice crem treat. They get really nasty, however, if they melt in the box on the way home from the story and you pull one out of the freezer a few hours later. They get all deformed and the almond to ice cream ratio per bite is drastically altered.

I love me some old-school, generic ice-cream sandwiches too.
But this Choco-Taco, I mean, I'm SO INTRIGUED. I've never seen one here, but then I don't really look in the icecream cooler very often. Must start doing that. (I have black cherry ice cream/yogurt right now, so I am O.K.)

The choco taco - like so many of the beautiful things in this world, so much better to look at than to eat.

rogermexico (rogermexico), Friday, 22 July 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

for a while they sold choco-taco's at taco bell.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Sunday, 24 July 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

five years pass...

A gas station clerk once spent a little too long sincerely explaining to me that the CHoco Taco I bought was not an authentic Mexican snack.
