See, I've already borrowed (large sums of) money from my mom, one of my sisters, and my boyfriend. You know who has money but would never offer to lend me any? My Dad. But I know no one HAS to lend me money. I should be more responsible... or something.

Well, for example, I bought plane tickets home, and then put down a deposit on some bookbinding courses, the other half of which I'll have to pay up come October. These two amounts alone would've covered my entire budget for August.

That's about how much I have in my budget, after paying bills. And I've pulled it off for two months in a row. I'm not sure what happened this month exactly. I probably just went out to eat a couple times too many.

I'm applying for a new job at the same place. A much better job that I think I deserve.
I have not applied for similar postings in the past, because I've sorta figured that since I take everything so damned personally, I wouldn't be able to continue working here after such a rejection.
But I'm using that to my advantage this time. If I don't get it, I'll quit. Because this job is ruining me.

Man, 10 dollars a day isn't that bad... I've lived for less than that for the last few years, except for the summers, when I usually (though not always) have a summer job. Of course, when you're a fifth (soon sixth) year student, you kinda get used to it, and stop dreaming of expensive things. My principle is, if you have enough money to eat properly and go to the pub on regular basis, you're doing okay. Unfortunately, there have been times when I couldn't even afford to buy a pint, and that's when you really feel poor. A pint or few with your friends every now and then should be a basic human right.

Sorry to just pop in on everyone this way, but $10 a day isn't bad unless you realize that's all it will ever be and you're 29 and almost 30 and you want to visit breezy, quiet pastoral places in beautiful faraway countries but you can't even hardly get out of Chicago on $10 a day. If that's not the case, then $10 a day sounds great. Talking about money is always depressing.

This is a complete aside and in no way a criticism of anyone or anything anyone has been saying here, because it's all very cute and all... but I suddenly realised that most of the time IRL I'm not actually that bothered about being single. It just often really strikes me when I get on ILX and everyone is talking so cutely about their other halves and partners and how they got engaged and that kind of thing, that I just suddenly feel a bit ... like I'm missing something.

Which I don't generally feel when I'm tucked up in bed with my laptop and my guitar and a takeaway pizza.
