Night Sweats

I've been having really icky night sweats on and off for the past two years and I'm finally sick to death. I wake up halfway through the night shivering and wet with the sheets stuck to me. Even on the coldest of nights it happens.

I can't fall asleep without a cover over me, and I never kick the covers off if I get too hot in my sleep. I just wake up wringing.

Are there any herbal remedies for this kind of disgusting problem?

Yeah, I wake to find my disgruntled boyfriend sleeping on the couch.

It's gotten worse recently - I seem to be producing the 'sweat of fear' which smells a bit.

i sweat a lot when i sleep at the slightest hint of heat. It sucks because 1, its dirty and icky as fuck, and 2, it makes big huge feathery blankets and pillows basically a waste.

i also cant fall asleep without a cover on me. or, it's hard and uncomfortable and i dont feel safe/secure that my innards are protected.

Sleep under the bed. Good coverage and you can sweat all you want.

Sweaty people of the world unite!

I've only ever sweated in this way at night, during exercise, in hot countries etc I never really seem to break a sweat even though those around me are melting.

Aaron, it's a comfort thing with me too - I need to be all tucked in to feel safe, with my covers clutched up round my chin.

Notice how you say "one in thirty" nights. It's hormones. I sweat "every month", if you see what I'm saying, at the end of my cycle.

You might ask your doctor or go to an acupuncturist if you're into that sort of thing. It's better to balance the hormones than put up with the sweating, if you have the time and inclination and $$.

it's related to my period?

wait...

However - if you're pregnant/a man/post-menopausal...I guess my advice is not that useful.

I keep a large beach towel by the bed for these kind of things. If I wake up inna cold sweat, I just wrap myself up the towel, flip the pillow over and go back to sleep. Stress and drinking they say?

its totally not stress or drinking, i just fucking sweat :)

I had this so bad the other night I wasn't actually sure if I hadn't just pissed myself when I woke up. But the bed was SO wet it was probably too much to be that! Well, that and the fact that I get night sweats quite often and it didn't smell of wee.

Still, not too pleasant. I think my body must have a problem regulating temperature when I'm asleep. I get hot really easily even in winter if I sleep under a duvet. But if I don't I wake up freezing cold instead. I'd rather be warm and sweaty than wake up shivering.

there were times when this happened somewhat regularly. not sure why. depression? sickness? but it hasn't in a while and i'm glad. it's so uncomfortable. and it's especially awful and embarrasing if you're in bed with someone.

Malaria, babesiosis, menopause, post-childbirth hormone adjustment...
There are probably more causes, but those are the ones that pop into my head. If you feel lousy and feverish and have spent any time outdoors in the States you should get screened for babesiosis. It's a parasite like malaria, spread by ticks. You have to take quinine.
