AGRO BOYS

This friend of mine got up yesterday morning, only to find that his car had been vandalised by shitheads. They'd slashed 2 of his tyres, and scratched up the paintwork. As far as I know it was just random shitheadery. One of thje things they'd scratched on his car was 4 letters, then first 2 being the initials of the location where he lives, the second 2 being "AB", standing for "AGRO BOYS".

What kind of freaked me out, apart from the obnoxiousness of the whole thing was thi term "AGRO BOYS". I haven't seen or heard it used since something like 1982! Who the fuck uses it in this day and age (well, apart from some shitheads from part of south shields) next thing, it'll be "vambo rools" sprayed on a wall somewhere, I don't know.

How do you know if the initials were where he lives? "SS" stands for a few other things, right?

how do you know it stood for AGRO BOYS?

this would make me really angry and ready to 'throw down the vigilantism' or something, i fancy.

maybe they thought his car was a SAAB but they were also dyslexic (oh wait, there's no such thing).

There are walls in outlying areas of Glasgow and Lanarkshire which to this day remain emboldened with the words VAMBO MAD MENTAL ROOLZ OK and HOME RULE and similar.

it wasn't "SS" it was the initials of that particualr part of shields.
They're a known local gang, or something.

there is a faint remnant of a "groundhogs"/"vambo rools" graf somewhere near where I live, but it's barely visible now.

perhaps retro hooliganism is the new happyslapping, though? You get beaten up by a gang of "youths" in feather cuts & bay city rollers style tartan?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 13 September 2005 08:31 (twenty years ago)

In my day they all had the hairdo that Ray Winstone had in Scum, so you're right about the feather cuts.

I have the sneaking suspicion that "my day" is the same day as "your day", M.

I can't actually remember what the second letter was, the first was "W" for whiteleas, which is a district of south shields. It'll have been something like "whiltelas road agro boys" or "whiteleas park agro boys" or sucklike. the "agro boys" was the important bit, not the location.
