I've worked here before and been plenty busy in the past. They've called me in to fill in for someone while she's away and I have literally nothing to do. I am practically begging, at this point, the traffic coordinators for something to do. To no avail. I've already downloaded messenger to her machine, read all the available magazines and posted to ilx more than anyone should be aloud. Do I feel guilty?

I'm also worried about having to explain myself, considering what I bill, when I turn in the time sheets. Showing me having done 2.25 hours of work thus far for three days!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

And two more to go after this!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

Are you getting paid by the hour or by the work produced?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

Oh, by the hour my friend! I'd just go home if I was billing by actual time spent on projects!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Then it's their problem, right? It sounds like you've made every effort to make yourself useful.
Of course, the boredom is your problem. Might I suggest daydreaming?

I'm not sure if doing the Super Furry Animals would be an improvement or not.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 15:56 (twenty years ago)

IT WOULD BE, DAMMIT

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

I have the same worries. I'm rarely fully occupied for an entire day, but the fact is, they need me around *just in case*. I think that's just the nature of some peoples work.

Mestema (davidcorp), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

True. In that case I'm going to request a transfer to the department of Sit and Look Pretty since that's clearly where I belong!

They gave me a job about 15 minutes ago, but I noticed an error and now they've taken it away to discuss the inconsistency for another 2 days! WHY DID I SAY ANYTHING?

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

BOAST POST

bato (bato), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

welcome to my world.

actually isn't this the world of most ilx0rs?

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

would there be an ILX otherwise?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 16:41 (twenty years ago)

the department of Sit and Look Pretty

WHERE DO I SIGN?

seriously, you crowing bastards with your do-nowt-get-paid-loads gigs can kiss my...CV.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 16:44 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 20:42 (twenty years ago)

They gave me a job about 15 minutes ago, but I noticed an error and now they've taken it away to discuss the inconsistency for another 2 days! WHY DID I SAY ANYTHING?

Sounds like you just saved them some trouble!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 20:48 (twenty years ago)

You do realize our time zones are slightly off from one another?

xpost :: I did. i have a habit of doing that for them which is why they keep calling me back in. But that fact does not help how absolutely BORED I AM

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 20:52 (twenty years ago)

Maybe you could use the downtime to learn a new skill, perhaps an online course in basketweaving?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 20:54 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I know the time diff but hey! It was an idea.

Shit I really should get to work on that point.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 20:54 (twenty years ago)

Yes. You're not online!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 20:56 (twenty years ago)

I'd carve a marionette if I had the time, then I could re-enact that Nutri-Grain bar commercial.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

Bryan, i love you.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

What commercial are you on about, btw?

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

The one where the marionette is teaching the office worker guy not to go to the vending machine to get his 2 o'clock snack. He's to take a Nutri-Grain bar with him instead but he keeps getting it wrong so the puppet yells at him. Best part: the guy tells the puppet he's weird and the puppet replies "like your face." Best commercial ever. I love you too, Thermo.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

Hey now I'm online and you're not Thermo! Blah ;P

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

this thread title was a real headscratcher before i opened the thread. i had strange pictures of drug use and medieval instruments

jim p. irrelevant (electricsound), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

I'm seeing Super Furry Animals tomorrow night in Vancouver...

Phew, I get to see them before they're fucked by Thermo, at least.

do knut (donut), Thursday, 24 November 2005 00:33 (twenty years ago)

Explore the wonderful world of I Love Comics!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 24 November 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

The only comic I've ever read was Johnny The Homicidal Maniac. I don't even own any!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 24 November 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 24 November 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

Point me in the direction of a Johen Vasquez thread and we can do business.
