You're gonna be a contestant this year, of course.

January. I love American Idol opening season. There's nothing like the smell of a gush of wackos bursting through the gaping maw of potential fame.

I am enormously, shiveringly excited about this season, largely because AI4 contained some of the best TV I have ever seen, and I feel it can go nowhere but up.

A new season of Seacrest's jaw-droppingly retarded hairstyles and "deconstructed" jeans/t-shirts/blazer-and-something-that-doesn't-go-with-a-blazer combos. A new season of the guy who can't sing that everyone loves. A new season of a couple actually kinda stellar performers. A new season of Paula's ridiculously obvious Vike/Malibu Rum up-and-downs and Simon's laughing at her, but not really laughing because he can't even be bothered to laugh, he just kind of does the thing where he smirks from inside the palm of his hand, where his face has gone to rest after a particularly painful rendition of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough".

Also, I would like some of these Pop Tarts.

Ned, I know someone who made first call-back last year! Simon told her she was dressed like she had just come from the mall.
