Given that Kate said it was someone else's turn to start one...

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:47 (nineteen years ago)

If the weather's nice, I think I'll go and have my lunch on the beach!

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:49 (nineteen years ago)

The weather is nice. OH NO I'M IN SLOUGH!

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:51 (nineteen years ago)

Oi! I meant a new thread about the BAND!!! Oh well, that one was getting over 1000 posts long, so oh well.

Pash, when you see this, please can you work the same bit of magic that you did on the last one? Thanks!

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

(resists the urge to make "number 9... number 9..." jokes.)

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:55 (nineteen years ago)

Well, I didn't know what you meant. Me thick.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 09:55 (nineteen years ago)

Sigh. It doesn't matter. People only seem to post on the Watercooler thread when I'm not around. "Is she gone? Is she gone?"

::people flood into the cooler and buy up all of Kate's lovely books that she has been accumulating so preciously all over her desk::

Oh hang on, wait, wrong thread.

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:12 (nineteen years ago)

Hi all.

I'm ever more envious of emsk and ed and their jaunt. That bridge looks amazing.

It is sunny outside here in Oxford, but there's nowhere for me to go really. I could wander down to cowley centre I guess, get out of the office, see what's about.

How's preperations for your PARTY going kate - do you still want treacle puddings?

Johnny B Was Quizzical (Johnney B), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:19 (nineteen years ago)

Party, oh god, I forgot I was having a party. Damn, I should ask if Amy if it's OK to make a giant treacle pudding in her space.

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:21 (nineteen years ago)

(I nearly typed "area" by mistake and almost killed myself giggling.)

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:21 (nineteen years ago)

I've never made a GIANT treacle pudding before - is a normal sized treacle pudding gonna be okay? Everyone can have a LITTLE bit . . .

Johnny B Was Quizzical (Johnney B), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

You could have nearly typed "bum" and we all could have.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:25 (nineteen years ago)

Damn, I suppose if it has to be a normal sized treacle pudding... I can eat it out of a GIANT plate. Or maybe a LITTLE TINY plate and then I can still feel like Alice in Wonderland.

Dammit! I quite forgot to put on the invitations that it is supposed to be an ALICE IN WONDERLAND theme.

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:27 (nineteen years ago)

(our Alice will be in Newcastle, probably)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:32 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think they actually built the bridge, it looks quite worn-in in the photos (and there's a marked shortage of half-built bridges as well).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:38 (nineteen years ago)

The weather is nice. OH NO I'M IN SLOUGH!

"OH NO I'M IN SLOUGH" would shurely shuffice?

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:40 (nineteen years ago)

OH NO I'M IN WEST SLOUGH

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:42 (nineteen years ago)

Bah, I get to the beach and it starts raining. At least I have a passport application now.

(but don't get me started on: self-hatred because I daren't go into shops where people I slightly know and kind of like might be working)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:42 (nineteen years ago)

I like beaches when it is raining. The sky, the sea, the overwhelming blue-greyness of it all...

Anyway, here is something to cheer you up, FP: think of the photos of David Tennant in the fashion section of this weekend's Guardian.

Also OH GOD YES, I ALMOST FORGOT!!!! Apologies to everyone in the A section of my phone (Anna, Archel) because it went mental and decided to randomly call or text all of you. It seems to have stopped happening, so I don't think it was a virus. Possibly my ass suddenly developped the urge for a social life of its own.

And, for no apparent reason, here is a photo of Dylan Moran, with the exact colour I am going to be painting mine house:

http://www.dailybruin.ucla.edu/images/2005/4/6/1ae.DylanMor.picA.jpg

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:45 (nineteen years ago)

Ooh. Is that like my old room in Gray's Inn or a bit darker?

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:48 (nineteen years ago)

Darker. It is called Morroccan Velvet (I think? Or did I decide on Garnet Symphony! Or did I just like the name of that better? I am confused.) and it is lovely.

God, his nose is pointed. Errrmm... wow.

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:51 (nineteen years ago)

think of the photos of David Tennant in the fashion section of this weekend's Guardian.

Mmmm! Surely they must have convinced everybody else of his cuteness?

I don't mind rainy beaches if I'm wrapped up warm. Today I'm not, so I retreated back to the office.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:51 (nineteen years ago)

I think they dressed David Tennant in all the right stuff but in all the wrong colours.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:57 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know. Something about those photos bothered me. He's someone I *should* find attractive, but I don't, really. He's got lovely eyes. But there's something just about... disturbing about the lower end of his face. I don't know if he has a weak chin, or a cruel mouth, but he doesn't do it for me. I'm sorry.

They were lovely photos, though. Maybe if they'd been in profile, and I could have assessed the pointiness of his nose?

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 10:59 (nineteen years ago)

I think you'll generally be pleased by its pointiness, even if he's no Dylan Moran.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:11 (nineteen years ago)

xpost - The word you're looking for is rat-faced, I think.

Dylan's expression suggest he's searching for the half-naggin he hid in his hair for emergency situations.

I meant to ask about that perfect blank text.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:14 (nineteen years ago)

Hi Kate. I don't think my phone is advanced enough to catch viruses anyway, it runs off clockwork or something.

I blow hot and cold on David Tennant OO-ER no srsly sometimes I think he is very very hott esp in nice wide tweedy trousers but I agree there is something slightly wrong in his lower face. Is it just... too small?

I seem to be mainly arsing around on OkCupid today, for no real reason.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:14 (nineteen years ago)

Dammit, I cannot find a profile shot. Though I did find this, phwoar, etc.

http://www.pottermania.jp/Photos/CastsCrews/DT/DavidTennant3.jpg

I don't think many people on earth have noses as pointy as Dylan Moran. Except maybe Jared Harris. Is there a secret corner of Ireland where the boys sit and sharpen their noses?

x-posts bah

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:15 (nineteen years ago)

The sharpen their noses on the Blarney Stone

Alice in Wonderland party?

I need to dress up . . . AS A DOORMOUSE? Where am I gonna get a doormouse costume?

Mind you, the last Jungle themed party was about as un jungle-themed as it's possible to be. Except for the vines, which were very good.

I don't think they actually built the bridge

I never said they did - I just said it looks brilliant!

That colour is a GOOD colour for your room. I'd be scared of all the angry colours personally, but it will look impressive and homely at the same time!

Johnny B Was Quizzical (Johnney B), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:24 (nineteen years ago)

Previous incarnations of us built that bridge and it may have to be rebuilt in the near future.

Arrgh, I am being sucked into a balkanised thread, I must resist and become the Marshal Tito of ILX forge a new Yugoslav republic from these warring parts, with blood sweat and partisan activity.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:29 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha ha, no you won't, you will be a tinpot dictator of your private lump of ILX soil like me the rest of us!

It will be a very loose interpretation party, JB. It does not necessarily have to be a costume party, but one should be Alice in Wonderland themed in some way.

I wonder if there will be a mad Irishman to help me chop wood. Can I have Dylan Moran, please? Though I don't imagine he would be very good at it; too weedy.

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:34 (nineteen years ago)

How about a Tommy Tiernan instead?

http://www.waterfront.co.uk/images/TommyTiernanBarkweb.JPG

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:36 (nineteen years ago)

He's sharpening his nose!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:37 (nineteen years ago)

Who on earth is he? He has brought his own firewood, though!

God, stop tormenting me with these pointy noses!

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:38 (nineteen years ago)

He's a mad Irish comedian, as requested, with bonus pointy nose.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:41 (nineteen years ago)

If there's one thing I hate more than "mad" Australian comedians it's "mad" Irish comedians

Danaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:43 (nineteen years ago)

He's not "mad" as such, but he is funny (though the last time I watched him was during a bout of hotel room stop-looking-at-the-mini-bar boredom on a work trip - when anything would have cheered me up).

He beat Peter Kaye to the Perrier Award a few years back then went on to not make millions.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:46 (nineteen years ago)

I hate comedians, fullstop. I'm just a sucker for the pointed noses.

However! My request wasn't for a mad Irish *comedian* - it was just for a random pointy-nosed Irish boy to help me chop wood. Never mind.

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

(Though unfortunately, we probably won't be able to have a fire. Unless we can have an afterparty at Emsk's?)

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:48 (nineteen years ago)

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:49 (nineteen years ago)

Wikipedia says he (Tommy Tiernan) went to the same school as Dylan Moran. Those Catholic Seminaries are a production line for Perrier Winners.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:50 (nineteen years ago)

Now you are just torturing me. Argh, the pointiness.

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:50 (nineteen years ago)

(Did Spike Milligan really look like that? I might have paid more attention to my dad's endless repetitions of Goon Show scripts had I known!)

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:53 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, Spike was a fine figure of a man, in his prime

Danaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:54 (nineteen years ago)

Errrr... maybe the Shimuras should try Ireland instead of Glasgow!

(Except we would have to tie Anna to the tourbus to keep Irish boys from running off with her.)

STOP! Time Thief! (kate), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 11:59 (nineteen years ago)

Yus, Tommy Tiernan's from my home town as well, as very nearly is Ed Byrne (his parents moved out when he was on the way, I think):

emsk ( emsk), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:03 (nineteen years ago)

Oh. That sounds rubbish.

My idea of heavy going right now is trying to tell my boss "Go away, I'm trying to read a Dylan Moran interview in French" when she's come to tell me that I can NOT use the deliberate typo "Conslutants" on system wide reports. Sigh.

Bah, Emsk wants her computer back. Alls I wanted was a birthday thead.

(And yeah, and Dylan Moran in a bathtub, btu I'm not allowed to mention him ever again.)

kate actually ( emsk), Monday, 10 April 2006 07:54 (nineteen years ago)

this is weird. i had a dream last night that i went to a SC gig to meet Kaet. but then my phone wiped all its numbers from its memory, so i couldn't call her to let her know i was there. so i come onto ilx today and find out that wtf, kaet actually played a gig last night? srsly. the funny part was that i went with my PARENTS(!), and they really hated the gig. but i liked it, and so did my brother.

the next part of that dream was really great too, my brother tried to skate but kept falling off, and all these london kids laughed at him.

pretty weird. obv, kaet is the gurl of my dreams.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Monday, 10 April 2006 08:04 (nineteen years ago)

Today, I will be probably going "where am I"?

SOme of the good folks around here may remember when I was at a FAP last year, I was passing through Lon, on my way to the nightcoach to Newcastle (leaves 23:30, arrives 06:00). Well, yesterday I did the "New->Lon" part. (Same timing, diff direction). Return journey Wednesday night. Anyway, have not slept properly overnight, so umm.. whatever.

You'd probably picked up SUBCONSCIOUSLY on the fact that the SCs had a gig.

i figured that much out on my own. forget it...

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 April 2006 10:44 (nineteen years ago)

Urrrgh. By way of practising my new assertiveness techniques, I sent my soup back at lunch because it was inedibly peppery. Sadly, the only thing I could really have instead was chips. And since I'd already bought a Mars Bar to have after my soup and apple I had a horrifically lardy lunch and I now feel SHITE.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 10 April 2006 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

I’m really pushing my luck at work; I’ve just been to the pub for 2 hours. I then, come back and start making crisp sandwiches at my desk.

I’m expecting to get a "can I have a word" soon.

But he's not...Speaking as someone equally drunk who also spent the past few hours sat opposite him in the pub (along with my own team leader - who has just staggered off home), I can point out that his team leader isn't in today (and, as he's just told me, for the next two weeks)...So he should give a shit!

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Monday, 10 April 2006 13:42 (nineteen years ago)

Sigh. I'm not being arrogant or anything, but this thread is kinda boring when I'm not here.

I'm taking a break from painting and drinking and trying to decide if I've picked the wrong pink. Oh no! It looks better during the daytime than during the night. Or is it the other way around? I don't know.

Dammit, Mr. Knight said he was going to email me instructions on how to become a Lady Freemason but he clearly hasn't been in his office yet. :-(

Anyway, what this thread needs is some more Dylan Moran, clearly:

tis a shame.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 13:42 (nineteen years ago)

for real?

Of course!

One afternoon in a pub has left me feeling cheerful, optimistic, and thinking: why don't I just go out and do all the things I want to, instead of sitting at home whining about being too shy to do anything.

Not sure how long it will last, but it's good whilst it does.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

Well done FP. I say do what you want to do, don't do things you don't. And it's a well known fact that shyness can stop you from doing all the things in life you'd like to.

Johnny B Was Quizzical (Johnney B), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 14:39 (nineteen years ago)

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 15:04 (nineteen years ago)

Drink! Drink! Drink makes everything good! Hurrah for good news!

I have finished painting my living room/kitchen (though I haven't done the paisleys yet, they may have to wait. It's still pretty eyebending. And I can spill Merlot on the purple bits and Rose d'Anjou on the pink bits and have it not stain!) and am going to try to get a start on the bedroom before I have to go to some reading tonight. Oh, and I have to pick up bits of furniture this afternoon. I'm running out of money, argh! Why is paint so expensive?

Did I not comment on your dream, g-kit? Sorry, I thought I did. Whoa! I was in your dream. ACtually, that's kind of cool, I like the idea of being in other people's dreams so long as I'm more glamourous and exciting than in real life.

No Masonic email from Mr. Knight. He has forgotten me, bah. :-(

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 13 April 2006 10:41 (nineteen years ago)

Hello! It's been a while. Work's been so busy I've hardly had time to sneeze. Highlights: working two weekends in a row, 12-13 hour days, computer dying and having to bring in my powerbook every day, doing two people's jobs, being super-competent, nearly having a nervous breakdown. Now I'm on holiday until 24 April.

So what's news? And hands up who has had a birthday?

beanz (beanz), Thursday, 13 April 2006 14:28 (nineteen years ago)
