I have yet to find anything like a quick bite to eat between 12 and 1 downtown. There is no quick at all, only lines, and then more lines. You spend 20 minutes in line most places, and for what? A sandwich. A freakin' sandwich.

I don't really like champagne all that much. Anything that is alcohol + sweetness + bubbles is generally bad news for my stomach, although rum & cokes have never been a problem. I'm thinking more like wine coolers or cider or drinks of that ilk.

Eeewww. I'm pretty sure that tortillas, as purchased, are basically half raw, and meant to be cooked or baked or whatev during food prep. This fact is completely unconcealable with corn tortillas which is probably why wraps etc are made with flour ones...but they're not much better.

YES, BY ALL MEANS, CATCH UP ON THESE ALBUMS (in descending order of awesomeness)The Stooges - Fun House (IMO, the best American rock album ever)Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions... (I prefer Fear of a Black Planet, but mainly due to nostalgia)Fugazi - Red Medicine (my pick for their best)Spoon - Kill the Moonlight (though it's only their fourth-best album)Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I (I'm not sure how well this would stand up to someone who hadn't heard it before, I think nostalgia plays a big part on this one too)Radiohead - Kid AGhostface - Supreme Clientele
DON'T BOTHER, THESE SUCK (in descending order of suckiness)Modest Mouse - Moon & Antarctica (In the Lonesome Crowded West is their only album that I rate, personally)Husker Du - Zen Arcade
I AM NOT FAMILIAR ENOUGH WITH THESE ALBUMS TO COMMENTJimmy Eat World - Clarity *Ornette Coleman - Shape of Jazz to ComeStevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of LifePink Floyd - Dark Side *all Pedro the Lion and Death Cab (but esp. Control and Photo Album, respectively)Leonard Cohen - New SkinJump, Little Children - Vertigo *Jesus & Mary Chain - PsychocandyJeff Buckley - GraceInterpol - Antics *Gram Parsons - GP/Grievous Angel & Byrds' Sweetheart of the RodeoThe Go! Team albumRaekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban LinxFrames - For the BirdsElvis Costello - Armed Forces *Elliott - False Cathedrals Bowie - Scary MonstersConstantines - Shine a LightClem Snide - Soft Spot
* - I haven't heard, but I'm guessing based on unfounded prejudices that they aren't worth the trouble

C4n4st4 and Eric Z. at Schubas tonight! Get there early, cuz Eric's going on at 8 pm. I'm playing clarinet with him on a couple of tunes. Also: C4n4st4 is debuting our cover of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." So dope.

Tonight, for instance. I would love to go to a show, but I have class. Granted, class doesn't last til midnight, but I've been up since 5 -- getting up at 5, going out at night and then waking up at 6 the next morning just doesn't work for me. So I stay in the outskirts, and in the fringes, on the edge and off the avenue. If you want me, you can find me...
Haha -- does anyone remember that song?

Me: "Nah, I don't want to play, I really suck."
Whoever: "C'mon, it's cool, I suck too."
...
Whoever: "Wow, you really do suck."
My partial left-handedness really factors in, I can never even remember which hand I shoot with.

I don't know what this means. Did you read my post the other day about how I'm striving to get six hours of sleep a night? (Or 30 hours a week, however it balances out.) This has been a challenge for me, since I have a slew of bad habits that have prevented me from getting to bed on time. But I am trying now, because I really do feel happier and more productive when I'm rested. I just need to keep reminding myself of that in the wee hours of the night.

john, "i'm happy when i get six" and way too easy... me and my boss have this running joke where we can take seemingly innocuous statements and tag on the line "sounds like my prom night" or a variation of that. it was the first thing i thought of when i read your post. yes, mentally i never got past age 14.

PS -- Kelsey, that's actually a magical photo of me in the future, when Carl has a new friend. Somehow the future has me wearing socks and sandals, and I just don't see that happening, unless I'm outside drinking my morning coffee or something.
― The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:11 (nineteen years ago)
Amanda, the socks and sandals happened because you live cut off from humanity and you forgot that it's not okay to do that.

I ran my first race yesterday! A 5K!
If you did this in Mpls, then I'm pretty sure my sis was also in that race.
Thanks for all the turntable info, DUDES, I'll see what I can put together. Nothing fancy, obviously. It is pretty hilarious, though, when you start perusing the audiophile pages. Dudes talk about 3k turntables and 10k electrostatic speakers like nothing, and how you'd have to be a drooling moran to listen to mp3s.
