The age of austerity strikes home:
Ex-Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt is looking to relaunch his pop career with a gig at a pub in Burnley. Rickitt, who played Nick Tilsley in the ITV soap until 2004, has recently been starring in Kiwi TV medical serial Shortland Street. But this week he began an 11-date UK tour, headlining Doncaster's Pride festival, which will bring him to Burnley's Walkabout bar, in Hargreaves Street, on September 18. He will be debuting material from his latest album sessions, with renowned dance DJ David Guetta, as well as his smash hit single Breathe Again. The appearance will not be Rickitt's first brush with East Lancashire. Several years ago the actor was on a Tory shortlist of prospective Parliamentary candidates, and Conservatives in Blackburn were touting him as one of their would-be challengers to former Justice Secretary Jack Straw.
