I might have expected Hutchings to be a slimy little chav carpetbagger.

You can read all about Hutchings here...

Ex Coronation Street Actor/Pop Star Tries To Become Tory MP

I'm assuming that "Fiona Bruce" isn't the newsreader, not that I would expect her to vote differently.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 11 May 2006 10:14 (nineteen years ago)

No, she is one of those rising stars we heard so much about during the election.

Reading this is quite prophetic I think...re: Goldsmith

Incidentally The Guardian has cocked up with Fiona Bruce's background - she stood in Warrington South (thre is no Washington South) where despite her rising star status she didn't manage to increase the tory vote.

four years pass...

The age of austerity strikes home:

Ex-Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt is looking to relaunch his pop career with a gig at a pub in Burnley.

Rickitt, who played Nick Tilsley in the ITV soap until 2004, has recently been starring in Kiwi TV medical serial Shortland Street. But this week he began an 11-date UK tour, headlining Doncaster's Pride festival, which will bring him to Burnley's Walkabout bar, in Hargreaves Street, on September 18.

He will be debuting material from his latest album sessions, with renowned dance DJ David Guetta, as well as his smash hit single Breathe Again.

The appearance will not be Rickitt's first brush with East Lancashire. Several years ago the actor was on a Tory shortlist of prospective Parliamentary candidates, and Conservatives in Blackburn were touting him as one of their would-be challengers to former Justice Secretary Jack Straw.

i see the vile zac goldsmith was also on the tory elite list, according to ned's link upthread.

so wait, Goldsmith has decided to destroy neoliberal globalization by being a Tory, and a particularly hideous one at that?
