Ah, Eurovision. They're called Lordi and they're Slipknot meets Kiss from the sound of it. Anyway, Tuomas has some explaining to do.

If you liked the old albums you will love this one and if you don't like Lordi i think you shall give this album a shot cause it rocks!
Best songs:The Kids Who Wanna Play with the DeadThey Only Come Out at NightThe Night of the Living Dead
P.S It was good that they didn't include there Hard rock Hallelujah on this album because it would have ruined the album.
Edit (The day after i had write the review). On my promo version it missed 2 songs which are with on the original and unfortunaly one of them were Hard Rock Hallelujah. And the second was Brining back the balls to the Rock, which are a completly normal Lordi song without anything special. Okey if i would have knowed that i would only had put 3,5 stars in rating but i let the rating stand.

More objectively speaking, I thought Spain's song was the best. It was suprisingly low-key (especially for a song by Las Ketchup), the sound was nice and breezy, and the accordion chorus plus the "duty free!" chants were lovely. Okay, they're pretty bad singers, but so is Lordi.

Lithuania's song was a funny, well set-up joke, but in the end I think it was too much of a joke to win. As I said on the ILM thread, the Eurovision song contest is really about honest camp, and if the contestants start taking it too ironically, that's not a good thing. That's why I didn't really like Iceland's performer: she was basically mocking the people who enjoy this kind of show. At least Lithuania's humour wasn't condescending.

...not strictly on topic, but those of you who love Lordi's europop heavy metal may also appreciate Dream Evil, whose song 'The Book of Heavy Metal' has it all, including the line 'Have I no dignity?'. Select video and 'TBOHM' from the drop down:

I also liked the German C&W dudes, especially the drummer who was quite scarily intensely into the whole thing. Las Ketchup's choreography was like a shit Girls Aloud before rehearsals to actually do any co-ordination. Their outfits were awful too.

I think it's pretty much the most perfect pop song of the 00's. Arsenium's solo career hasn't convinced me yet (and how come he's changed countries from Romania to Moldova?).

Hard Rock Hallelujah!Hard Rock Hallelujah!
The saints are crippledOn this sinners' nightLost are the lambs with no guiding light
The walls come down like thunderThe rocks about to rollIt's The ArockalypseNow bare your soul
All we need is lightningWith power and mightStriking down the prophets of falseAs the moon is risingGive us the signNow let us rise up in awe
Rock 'n roll angels bring that Hard Rock HallelujahDemons and angels all in one have arrivedRock 'n roll angels bring that Hard Rock HallelujahIn God's creation supernatural high
The true believersThou shall be savedBrothers and sisters keep strong in the faithOn the day of RockoningIt's who dares, winsYou will see the jokers soon'll be the new kings
Wings on my backI got horns on my headMy fangs are sharpAnd my eyes are redNot quite an angelThe one that fellNow choose to join us or go straight to Hell
Hard Rock Hallelujah!Hard Rock Hallelujah!Hard Rock Hallelujah!Hard Rock Hallelujah!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!

Loved the Latvians - a real surprise.
Also loved the German country-pop.
Wife was keen on the Lithuanians and it worked a lot better than I thought it would.
But Lordi got our 25p.

And the sweet fruits of victory:
The Finnish city of Rovaniemi says it will name a square after monster rock band Lordi, its surprise Eurovision Song Contest winners.
The mayor of Rovaniemi - the band's hometown, located on the Arctic Circle - said the municipality wanted to honour its sons for their success.
The new square bearing Lordi's name will be part of the redevelopment of Rovaniemi's city centre.
The town - the regional capital of Lapland - lies on the Arctic Circle and describes itself as the home of the real Santa Claus.
In a statement issued to Finnish media the official Rovaniemi Santa Claus said: "Lordi's victory shows us that with hard work and belief in your own abilities even the greatest dreams come true."
